Just made that same flight a couple weeks ago! It's as if you filmed my flight. First time in SD. Loved my trip. Thanks!!

The first time I ever flew into Rapid City (from Minneapolis, reporting to Ellsworth) we couldn't land. They kept saying because of some "weather", but we could clearly see the ground, was even partly sunny. They circled around several times, flew over the Hills, pointed out Mt. Rushmore, etc. then finally said there was no choice but to fly up to Aberdeen and bus us back to Rapid. I wanted to scream because I could clearly see the ground and couldn't understand why they couldn't land. This was on a Sunday and I had counted on getting in early so I could acquaint to the area before in-processing on base. We were supposed to land about 11:30am, but it turned out to be near midnight. Supposedly there were some patches of fog that stopped us from landing, but it sure didn't look like it, I'll never understand that one!

Sounds weird situation Jeff ~ Who knows but if ultimately safety was the factor, then I would go with that no matter how frustrating. But, yep, I would be peeved too ~ It's right there, land already ~ lol.

Yep, only time that ever happened anywhere, sun was out, could see the ground. Then in a snowstorm when you'd swear no one is going anywhere then they do take off! I appreciate the videos you took of flying in and taking off, ran into it by accident, but it sure brings back good memories as I really enjoyed that area.

Yes, those really were awesome! Thanx for sharing. Liked your Salt Lake one too; looks like Rapid City was just a connecting flight to Salt Lake, loved the mountains! Looks like you do a lot of traveling which must be great. Chicago lights at night are also really mind blowing, looks like a fire at one point. Also El Paso has beautiful mountains to see. I subscribed, thanx for sharing!

Pretty unusual they fly over the city like that, but that was pretty cool. Could see my house near the start of the video. :)

Did you guys hear about the Delta flight that accidently landed at Ellsworth AFB?
@Bydand8 жыл бұрын
That would be a little embarrassing. Did they get escorted in?
