Nice trip report! One nicer feature about the B787-8 is that these planes have toilets at the rear of the plane while the B787-9 doesn't. There seems to be fewer toilets for the 787-9 economy cabin.

I have flown Jetstar to Phuket in the past, but only if I can get an exit row as the ordinary seats in economy are too cramped. The service and everything else is pretty ordinary. Last trip I flew Singapore airlines and they were very good, I have booked my next trip on Singapore airlines.
@SirCooper2 ай бұрын
Singapore Airlines was at one point going to be our option, though one-way fares were like 2-3 times more expensive than flying Jetstar, and we were looking for the cheapest fares we could find.

I’m a regular in BKK but had an event in HKT in May this year, never again. Cramped, uncomfortable seats and terrible behaviour onboard eg people caught vaping. I hope in the future there becomes something better to Phuket because of the shit times you land.

Your flight to Phuket almost to nearly a full flight, do you remember how much you pay to fly Jetstar to Phuket and does it include 1 check in luggage?
@SirCooperАй бұрын
I flew with family, thus 3 extra passengers, and I also flew from the Gold Coast - Sydney before this flight .. but per passenger including the domestic flight before this one we paid 550AUD, so about 450AUD for JQ27 per passenger. The fare included 2 checked bags.
@kevin19358Ай бұрын
I see, that's a good deal on a 9 hour flight to Phuket. Thanks.

Don’t fly Jetstar on long international flights. I am going to Phuket myself in November and chose Singapore airlines to get there
@SirCooper2 ай бұрын
We were on a budget so they were the best option. Though, we didn't fly back with JQ, we instead opted for AirAsia / AirAsia X. Singapore Airlines was at one point an option but the fares were well over double what we'd pay going with Jetstar.
@anguscovoflyer952 ай бұрын
@@SirCooper fare enough though at the time we made the booking the Jq and SIA fares were on par with each other roughly

I will never fly with this airline again. Late last year I flew Melbourne to Bangkok Business Class. I spend most of the year in Thailand and return to Aussie for about five weeks each year. I look at airfares rather than brand loyalty. So I’ve flown between both Aussie and Thailand using many different airlines over the last eight years. Malaysia, Singapore, Philippine and Thai airlines etc. I have flown Jetstar Business Class from Melbourne to Bangkok and Phuket a few times in previous years and it was ok. However, my last flight was shocking. The seat pitch in Business Class has been reduced and the food was of a lower standard than most economy class meals I’ve experienced when I could only get an economy class seat. The subject flight was delayed three hours out of Melbourne apparently due to a technical issue, however, I suspect it was due the late arrival of a connecting flight which was evident on the Flight Radar app. Jetstar needs to reinvent itself or lose many, many more customers. They’ve lost my custom.
@Dingo9872 ай бұрын
I agree with you on the last flight business class. Food was horrible, still felt cramped but got through the night. Was in a rush to get back to Aus and there was no way I was going Jetstar economy.

16:06, Really? Last week Saturday, I flew Jetstar, Boeing 787-8 (VH-VKF) from Sydney to Honolulu, I was seat 30A, the in flight entertainment work for the whole 9 hour flight to Hawaii, but the USB port didn't work to charge my tablet, so it's a little annoying. I flew Jetstar 4 times, 3 on international flight, all widebody jet and 1 is domestic flight on a narrowbody jet. In May of 2023, I flew Jetstar, Boeing 787-8 (VH-VKH) from Honolulu to Sydney for the 1st time, flight is good and okay 10 hours. A few days later, I flew Jetstar, Airbus A320 from Sydney to Melbourne, flight is good, less than 1 and a half hour. In August of 2023 and last week Saturday, I flew Jetstar, Boeing 787-8 (VH-VKK and VH-VKF) from Sydney to Honolulu, both flights are good and okay, 9 hours. 1 way, I pay less than $300 to $400 from Honolulu to Sydney and Sydney to Honolulu, it's very cheap. When are you gonna visit Honolulu?
@SirCooperАй бұрын
Honolulu is on the cards for me, although I don't imagine we'll be going within the next year, we have a trip to New Zealand in December and possibly Japan in April or September next year. Keep an eye out mate 😉

I see, nice. I was in Tokyo last May, it's my 1st time visiting Japan, it's good and awesome, but the train is super crowded on the busiest hours and days, weather is unpredictable and almost most restaurants don't accept card, which is quite annoying, so you have to bring a lot of cash with you when you visit Japan. Thanks.
@SirCooperАй бұрын
@@kevin19358 We brought plenty of cash to Thailand and used as much of it as we could where possible 👍

Oh nice, okay. Same when your going to Tokyo soon. Also, don't forget to visit Disneyland and the newest Fantansy spring that is open last June in Tokyo/Chiba, it's awesome, but you need to book that 1 to 2 week or 1 month in advance.

Bro been doing that flight 2-3 times a year for over 14 years im about to do it in the mext couple of weeks as im moving to Thailand for good.the good thing as they go direct as other airlines don't,why would you take a none direct flight when its only 9 hours

The accessibility Jetstar gives Australians when getting to Phuket is great, especially with their PER - HKT starting soon, but as mentioned in the Trip Report, Sydney was my layover airport so plenty Australians may still find it difficult to get to Phuket

When I fly international flights buddy I do not fly budget airlines at all specially Jetstar and I prefer to pay for your ticket so I can least get a decent meal a nice pillow and also a blanket and if I was flying to Thailand it would be Thai Airways and when I did travel a lot to Thailand I did fly emirates but now they’re in partnership with Qantas so I have flu with Vietnam Airways and it’s not about airline to fly on

“Painfully average”. This opinion based on unrealistic expectations of a LOW COST airline is why Jetstar get more shit than they probably should. People expect premium full-cost features on a low cost airline.
@SirCooper2 ай бұрын
My "painfully average" experience and review of the flight was not based on expecting good service, it was more an honest reflection on my experience of the flight as a whole. My flight was neither good nor bad, with a number of good things, and a number of bad things happening during the flight, making it firmly middle of the road.
