This is NOT a promotional video. I pay for all of my flights and hotels (and I always tell you how much!) so I can be as honest and impartial as possible. I do not receive any special treatment that wouldn’t otherwise be publicly accessible, in fact, the hotels and airlines have no idea about my visit and that's the way I like it!

As an Aussie who travels through LAX, SFO, ORD and EWR it's the smaller airlines we never hear about in the southern hemisphere that catch my eye (Allegiant, FrenchBee, La Compagnie, Norse, Sun Country) or the more well-known international airlines I've never seen in our half of the globe (Aeroflot, Condor, Ethiopian). Great trip report by the way, Kevin. Really enjoying your channel!

I think Jetstar domestic have improved significantly in the last few months. I used to fly them years ago and was sometimes disappointed, gave up on them for awhile, then gave them a go again recently and was impressed. They are clearly making a concerted effort now and their CEO has recently said something to that effect too.

I hope you're right- and I also hope the likes of Jetstar, QF and VA start to feel a bit of pressure from the likes of Bonza and Rex... that (albeit small) pressure is the only thing that'll keep the big three on a level headed path in Australia. Always boggles my mind how uncompetitive the market it. Thanks for watching 🩴

My hometown! I'm pleased you enjoyed Brisbane Airport and your Jetstar flight to Bali. We did the same flight in 2018 in economy, in the mini cabin just behind Business. While Jetstar is probably my last choice of airline, I've never experienced any problems on their flights. Jetstar's 787 is a no brainer on this route as Virgin and various Indonesian airlines operate 737's. Looking forward to your Australian airlines series next year.

Not an Aussie or a frequent traveler to USA, but I love the subject of exotic airlines, especially when it's about international foreign carriers. I think that there are still surprises if you check your local airport's airline roster that give off that same effect you're talking about. I had that double take moment when I saw an Ethiopian Airlines jet on approach to Jakarta, that came from Bangkok. When looking up about it by searching what airlines currently serve CGK, I discovered something even more insane for me, that there currently exists a non-stop service from Tashkent to Jakarta with Uzbekistan Airways. And that Josh Cahill covered this route in an pre-pandemic video. It's entertaining to watch.

There is currently a huge amount of animosity in Australia about Qantas and Jetstar and how their services have been ruined by the CEO and backed by the board. I never fly Jetstar or Qantas because of continued delayed and cancelled flights. No disrespect to any of their staff, who have had to endure a lit.

We just did Jetstar, Hawaii>Melbourne and had a pretty mixed experience. Flight itself was excellent and on time. Cabin manager could barely mutter hello to us and would abruptly put our meals down. Had to ask for any refreshments, never offered. Sadly we also had a toddler that was let loose to run up and down the business class aisle and totally killed any peace and quiet we had hoped for. The female cabin crew were very gracious and kind. The food was ok but nothing to remember. All in all, I’d book it again purely for the space and comfort on a longer flight, but only if it was a really good price.

Always loved Jetstar, they're a VERY good source of QF points and status credits ... I've been lucky enough to have avoided their shenanigans but the horror stories make for some amazing news. Jetstar was mainly short haul until their long haul fleet was actually established with a small fleet of A330s. The 787s came waaaay later. PTV in YCL is paid for, otherwise you'll just get the flight map feature. I've also noticed the crew on JQ long haul is different from the short haul domestic. They're a mix from different bases around Australia, Indonesia, Singapore and Thailand. Especially the international bases, service levels tend to be a tad above the Aussie based crew. QF has always been under fire for milking their staff and using overseas crew where they can help it. There was a story of Bangkok based JQ crew doing Bangkok - Sydney - Honolulu vv flights and they were paid so little they could not afford to eat in layovers. The latest QF AKL JFK flights are crewed by NZ based crew, once again, are contracted by Jet Connect and paid a lot less than the standard QF long haul crew. Aussies absolutely love to bag JQ and curse about them, but hey... No one's saying no to the next $99 fare towards their next holiday. JQ is cheaper and gives us more points compared to QF. That's why I'll never ever pay to fly QF. Cheers...
@tfft

Tbh I’m surprised you don’t hate Jetstar just by default since it’s owned by QF lol.
@ryansofly

@@tfft yeah my relationship with the QF family is purely transactional. Although I'm Aussie, I wasn't born here so have no emotional connections to QF. I get my points, redeem to fly.... And the cycle repeats. QF JQ is a very divisive topic for Aussies having 2 very distinct camps. 🤣
@Yeviscount
@Yeviscount 10 ай бұрын
How do you get points on JQ. Do you have to fly business?
@ryansofly
@ryansofly 10 ай бұрын
@@Yeviscount as long as you're on the PLUS or MAX BUNDLE fare bracket. These 2 brackets give you QF points in both economy and business fares on JQ. You pay for the base fare in either class, then just add the bundles afterwards.

Honestly I have had better performance and customer service on Jetstar recently than Qantas every time I decide to give Qantas another go I end up paying heaps more just for my flight to be cancelled or delayed and for customer service to refuse to put me on another flight telling me to call up instead and wait on hold for hours whereas with Jetstar the gate agents always offer to help if they can and if I have to call I get straight through is it just me or is Jetstar becoming better than Qantas

Hi, Kevin. Another great review. I would only fly Jetstar if they were the only airline flying to where I wanted to go. Back in 2020 when the pandemic struck and New Zealand closed its borders less than a week before I was due to fly from Melbourne to Queenstown, the only compensation they offered me was a voucher valid for six months. I asked if I could transfer this to my brother who lives in Brisbane. All I got was a vert curt No. Nothing else leaving me out of pocket. Air New Zealand and Virgin Australia gave me full refunds. So , no I don't rate Jetstar at all. Keep 7p the good work. Love your reviews❤.

Generally speaking I work on 8-12 videos at the same time to take advantage of efficiencies in doing so. Using that system it’s around 12-15 hours per video- this can be much higher for certain hotels. If I did one at a time it would add around 3-4 hours to the process for each video.

OMG Kevin what's happening to FFT ratings bro... I call JQ BC, business crass. The 787 product is U/S. It used to be good in the A330 (most JQ staff will testify to that) I gave up on JQ BC from Cairns to Narita. I have done approximately 30 BC flights to Narita, Please JQ more space in the BC section, Sit in 57 F more room, service and, toilet access. I'm trying the Virgin BC on the 1st of Oct to Haneda hopefully that will be good. Cheers.

So what you’re saying is… if a product has a reputation for not being great… then the score should automatically be bad as well? 🤔
@markprovan4332
@markprovan4332 11 ай бұрын
No, my friend JQ has a well-deserved poor reputation of cancelling flights, delays and poor service. I judge JQ's product on multiple poor experiences and lack of customer pre and post support. I won't go on. You seem to have had a good experience and that's great, it is after all a review of your experience with JQ. However, they are improving. My recent cancellation receipts were resolved quickly and attentively the way it should be. Cheers.

Never had a problem with Jetstar. However, we don’t get the 787’s from Perth 😢 Brisbane International looks so much nicer than Perth.

The big part that is missing is that those who fly Jetstar Business Class have access to the Qantas Lounge
@tfft
@tfft 6 ай бұрын
That is not correct. You need to specifically book the Business Max bundle which is usually $200-$300 more for this route in order to access the lounge.

I don't fly across the country anymore. None of our airlines are reliable. Late, cancelled flights. Lost luggage. Pass. We go to Asia or Europe these days. We paid a nights accomodation in Singapore rather than catch the only later flight on Jetstar. Hubby was no way in hell. We would rather do that and jump on Singapore Airlines.

Jetstar is not looking that bad these days. Either they have improved, or qantas has gone downhill, making jetstar look half decent in comparison.

Qantas I've only flown once, Jetstar multiple times. Jetstar has felt consistent to me from pre-covid until now... so I reckon that Qantas is the one sliding down the scale.

I’m comparing the service to the other carriers that fly the same route for a similar price. There are no upmarket Asian carriers flying between Brisbane and Bali for under $600 in premium economy.

Umm. What? My scores and opinions and videos are all relative to the price I paid. It’s said and written in every single video. That is precisely the only way that a $900 per night hotel and a low cost carrier could possibly be reviewed fairly, in the same forum.

Why on earth would price not be a factor in determining the rating? Would your expectations be the same for a $100 p/n hotel and a $1,000 p/n hotel. What a crazy comment.

i want to start by saying that i watch all flip flop travellers videos, i always like and i’m subscribed. but it feels like he is such a tightass that when the price range hits a certain amount he turns on his maximum amount of snobbery for the product and service. I went to Jumeriah Bali in september of 2022 and at that time only 52 villas were open. we got upgraded to to sunset suite. there was: no security anywhere beach was perfectly clean and beautiful no privacy issues at the outdoor shower service was top notch the breakfast was alacarte with a great selection of their own fusion mixed dishes of tradiontional indonesian and western dishes. obviously they’ve fallen to pieces since then and i wouldn’t go back based on your video but it feels like if any hotel or flight is above the price of your clearly strict budget limitations, you go into it with a super negative “this better be super fucking amazing for the amount i’ve donked off on this” attitude

Chicken sausage is horrible and has no place in an aircraft premium cabin, even if it's on a Budget/LCC. The rest of the experience looks to be worth a look next time we're in Australia. The A320 - not so much.
