Hey thanks for the shout out! We only get on your back when you do dumb stuff in our backyards. Other than trespassing and surely breaking local ordinance from the launch site that was a pretty cool flight. I'm sure you're aware of the airspace in that area but that's just your style. The area he was flying was Class B above 3,000ft, as far as I can tell he didn’t look to go above 3,000. Not sure of the ordinance for flying out of specific parks, I’ve been guilty of flying out of a park just to get a talking to by the manager. So far it’s been informative and nobody is ticketed. I haven’t gone in the water but I know a few guys who have, and even with floatation and a hook knife it almost killed them. The anchor on your back and the lines and wing that land on top of you is a scary combo!

Chucky.you define the word FREEDOM! I was just like you at your age,and I flew the 1st powered parachute ever built by Steve Snyder called the "Paraplane"...it was powered by 2 little "SOLO" engines putting out 15 H.P. each with counter-rotating props to cancel out any torque(P-factor) on take-off I always wished I lived in Fla. like you, although I have visited it many times over the years....I been Scuba diving since 1970...was a semi-pro bodybuilder and have had over 150 motorcycles over the years,and had my modified 1999 "Hayabusa" up to 206 m.p.h. once! but at 67 those days are long gone although I still have some bikes in my garage...I'm heading back to Fla. in early April to attend the "Sun n Fun" aviation event in my buddys P51 "Mustang" fighter plane...maybe we could meet up and swap flying stories!

With as much flying you're doing over water, you're going in the drink at some point. If you mount your floats on your cage, there is the potential that they will float you face down in the water. A better place to mount them is on your shoulder straps. When you get that motor out over the water, unbuckle your straps in the air if you can (leg straps last). Don't jump out of your motor into the water. Once you're in the water, don't try to swim and get your head above water. Stay calm, hold your breath, and free yourself from your motor first. Then, post the video! ;-)

No - it’s essentially just a flexible wing. Airspeed produces lift, and the engine (in a simple sense) gives you airspeed. If the engine stops, you can just “lower the nose” (tilt down) and gravity gives you your airspeed, giving you lift to land without the engine.
