I'm thinking the Flying Scotsman is a part of British Rail History. It's the greatest honour live in country which that steam train has been built! I can't wait to see it! Very beautiful and professional movie! 5**** Kind Regards

It was good to see so many people out watching this great event.Sadly I couldn't, but I saw it at Carlisle earlier this month. Well done to all responsible for the restoration, and the trip yesterday.

Flying Scotsman is certainly one of the best Steam Locomotives in the world, I will be seeing the engine on Sunday and from what I've heard. In this years Thomas and Friends special The Great Race, I've heard that Flying Scotsman is going to be in it!

Looking forward to visiting you this weekend on Saturday (9th April 2016) to see the Scotsman up close and personal! I was at Huntingdon to get a video of it's inaugural ECML run and it looked absolutely amazing. I am very excited to be back at NRM, I think I was about 11 years old last time I visited! can;t wait to feel like that again!

What a magical, moving occasion, on a day blessed with glorious blue sky. Thank you to all those who worked so hard to make this day possible. How I wish we could have the QE2 back in this country, or the old Queen Mary!

I was at Kings Cross that day and Network rail didn't let me near it to take a photograph of the locomotive at the platform instead I was sent by one of Network rail's female attendance to the viewing area where I could not get a better photo because of the crowds on platform 2 but I filmed it instead. my story was back in 2004 I saw Flying Scotsman hauling the Orient Express (British Pullman Train) passing my house at Clapham Junction. I always wanted to go on the footplate to take a picture of myself in the driver seat. I work with the Merchant Navy Locomotive Preservation Society with Clan Line and now the A1 Steam Locomotive Trust on 60163 Tornado I never ever been to the museum at York because the train fairs are too high and I have autistic spectrum disorder which is a learning disability plus I am a 24 year old student at Kensington and Chelsea College

Will the suspension of West Coast Rail have any effect on the running of the Flying Scotsman? It was really great to it on the run down to London on Weds, and of course I couldnt miss seeing the inaugural run yesterday, it looked magnificent, well done to all concerned..

National Railway Museum My number 1 favorite number for the LNER Class A3 Flying Scotsman (1923) today in the 21st century (2000-) part of the 3rd millennium (2000-) is 4472.

Enjoyed, but a shame the late Tony Marchington wasn't also there to see it.

I read that in the summer Flying Scotsman will be painted back to LNER apple green, is this true? Also, will the chime whistle be put back on the locomotive?

Since there is virtually nothing left of the original, it might have been better, and cheaper, to build a replica. And who thought that intrusive background music was a good idea?
@NWR19918 жыл бұрын
+Malcolm Richards But would the replica be authentic enough? None of the parts of this 'replica' would be from 1923 and the NRM had stated this last December: blog.nrm.org.uk/how-much-flying-scotsman-original/ There are still parts from Flying Scotsman that are from the year it was first built but it's going to need new parts through overhauls during its working life and preservation life. It may not have all original parts but it's still the same that its once was from the day it was made. It still holds the name and history. The most important thing though is that the engine is here and its still is and will be enjoyed by many people in future generations.
@malcolmrichards89228 жыл бұрын
+NWR1991 I agree in general, and we have ended up with a nice engine, even though it's effectively a replica with a few original parts. I still feel, though, that a lot of this money could have been saved and gone to restore other more original, and perhaps more deserving locos.
@NWR19918 жыл бұрын
+Malcolm Richards is there any in authentic condition? The reason, so I've heard years ago, for Mallard is because of her authentic parts could be removed. I don't know what the true reason is, but I doubt the NRM will restore it because we already have enough A4s running around representing the class.
@NWR19918 жыл бұрын
+Malcolm Richards Flying Scotsman is a more deserving locomotive. It had such incredible history than any engine. Plus the money was made through donations for 4472 only.
