This footage is from my rookie season in 2013. I had maybe 400 hours total time at this point and I was flying a 1985 Air Tractor 301 with a Pratt and Whitney 1340 radial engine. It is hard for me to watch this footage now because the work I am doing is very sloppy and the way that I am flying the plane is not what you would call optimal. I have learned a lot since then and I am glad that I survived my first several years in this career.

I think maybe I saw this video when you first posted it. Glad you survived and continue to fly. As with an profession you get better the more you do it. Stay safe and fly on my friend...

It doesn’t look too sloppy to me. Looking forward to some new videos for this season. Thanks for posting

I'm not really sure. I haven't been around a 1340 in a long time. Covington in Tulsa might still overhaul them.

I’m a 230 hour SEL, complex high, performance, and tail (only about 15 hours tail though) rated pilot finishing my CSEL rating and doing CFI over the summer to teach on my college. Crop dusting has always been a dream of mine, but nobody has ever been able to help me or guide in in the right directions. What would be my best steps moving forward to get into this profession?

Get a summer job at a crop dusting service working on the ground. After your first full season on the ground you will really know if this is for you or not. Get a few seasons on the ground and a few hundred more tailwheel hours and you will be ready to start looking for your first flying job.
