It's very interesting seeing your 'local' evaluation of weather systems either directly in the way or dotted about very closely to points of departure or arrival. Like a limited 'cross section' interfering with your journey!

I’ve been watching your channel for about a year now, I’m a big fan! Appreciate you taking the time to bring us along in your videos, and they keep improving with B role, music, ATC, etc. I currently work for a large 135 operation flying a Bell 407 in the Gulf of Mexico for oil and gas. I change out crews on multiple oil platforms, and take specialists to the larger ones 150 miles offshore so they can take measurements. I stared watching your channel when I began considering switching to fixed wing. I was curious what a day in fixed wing pilot is like, and you have made me well informed. I enjoy the views from the higher altitudes you fly at, the clouds are always unique on every flight. I’ve also learned a bit about IFR, and ATC from you as well. I’m strongly considering taking an offer from a regional carrier. They will pay for all my training, and give me a healthy bonus to make the switch. I’m excited to begin learning a entirely different environment. What do you think about this opportunity? Thanks again for your invaluable experiences you share.
@captmoonbeam6 жыл бұрын
Hi Chris. I appreciate your watching. It's a great way to get a lot of fixed wing multi hours quickly. It's also so a good stepping stone to larger aircraft and the major airlines.

Great fun facts as always, thanks for sharing. Had to watch it a few times to catch it all. @1:30 the APU emergency shutoff button seems kind of small. Guess the scifi fan in me expects all emergency shutoffs to be epic sized handles of some sort. But I guess it just shuts off the APU, does not deploy some kind of extinguishing agent, that's probably automatic as needed I guess, because there was complete absence of epic sized handles in there. @8:10 Man that was a nice hotel room. Usable desk, comfy couch with foot rest, awesome sized TV, the only thing I would add is a recliner but I've never seen a hotel room with a recliner. @9:40 I never stayed at a CourtYard Marriot but I will next time ! @8:20 Liking your B-Roll and more importantly the... I guess you call it flow where, from the viewers perspective, the video flows so smoothly it feels like it was just a few minutes long then he or she realizes it was 18 and change. Nice !

Another great video. I had to laugh about getting impaled by a static wick. No, I didn’t, but the radome of the Bac 1-11 I was flying did. Fresh paint job and all. One of those round, black, hard carbon style. Nice clean puncture, clear all the way though. That was a tough one to explain to the boss. Hangar rash. Funny side story to that. We had to get a loaner radome so we could fly and when we were unpacking it what came walking out, a scorpion. The radome came from Texas so it came along for the ride.

That's scary. I was in a maintenance facility in Texas and had to go. When I lifted the seat, the was a scorpion sitting on it.

Great cloud shots! You guys see some pretty amazing scenery as pilots. Learned some more things in the beginning, too - never knew about the landing gear & brake air pressure, nor that there was an anti-skid fault display outside of the cockpit, nor that static wicks will impale you, either. 😁 Honestly I didn't know what they even were - your comment prompted a quick Google search. I would suggest you go into EFD in Houston and stay away from Hobby. EFD has Signature, rental cars and not much traffic. Just be aware it is a military tower so overhead approaches, and military jets are based there. "check wheels down" on every clearance to land.

Another good one Jim. This year so far seems to have been very heavy on thunder storms across many areas. Your views of thunder heads from the air are as always most fascinating. It's rated to 30,000' We cruise at 40,000. It doesn't say in the book but, if you went high enough, it would eventually flame out or since it's air cooled shut down due to a high temp indication.
