For those that are commenting on him turning his plane on first... That's why you BIND your receiver and transmitter. It doesn't matter what order you turn things on. If that kind of interference was possible, people would be crashing each other's planes all the time. It's no problem unless your receiver is somehow set to autobind on every start up... Which this plane does not. Edit: BTW... Nice vid man.

I’m picking up my old RC plane habits again as well. I’m excellent on the flight simulator. Because it’s been 22 years since I flown. Helicopters about 13 years.... I started FPV, but you can’t have the scale like flying with that.

I have this plane and really enjoy flying it. I'm using Venom FLY 3200 4S batteries and easily get 8 minutes of acrobatic flight time! I took out the goofy looking pilot figure though and replaced it with a piece of thin foam rubber to cover up the hole. Besides, the pilot didn't speak English!

You made a excellent choice on that plane to get back into the hobby👍👍. The extra is one of my favorite planes too, I have a few videos of me flying mine on my channel. I definitely do not regret buying the 300, and strongly recommend it to others👍👍. Great video, and flying 👏👏👍👍. Always makes me happy to meet another RC Pilot, Subscribed, and🔔🔔

Great video and some nice flying, I'll be looking at getting one of these myself in the near future. Currently honing my skills with the E-flite Turbo Timber but will be looking to learn some 3d flying. The Extra 300 looks like a lot of fun.

@@Perry_Wolf i know this is the procedure but never understood why. Do you know why this had to be done?
@Perry_Wolf4 жыл бұрын
@@calvinstevickbrown8171 - Honestly, not sure if it's still necessary with modern radios. When I learned we still used the FM 72mHz radios and I think if you turned the receiver on first things could go wrong quickly. Especially if you were one of the early people into electric motors. Powering the receiver first could result in the motor starting up unpredictably.
@richardmiddleton7770 Жыл бұрын
@@calvinstevickbrown8171 Because without anything to control the receiver the motor could start. Also back before 2.4g you ran the risk of someone else controlling your model! Doesn't really matter these days with 2.4g and ESC's that won't arm till they see a throttle signal.

Never ever ever ever ever install the battery with your wrist and arm right over the prop . I cannot stress this enough. A wooden prop turns your arm into ground meat.

Would you recommend me to buy this plane if i have only flown drones in the past
@nlxz-bn1xy4 жыл бұрын
No, if you want to get into R/C airplanes, I would start with something much smaller and easier to fly. I would recommend the E-Flite Apprentice or the Hobbyzone Sport Cub S 2. I'm not sure if you have a radio but if you don't, the DX6e is a good option because it's not too expensive and you can fly basically any airplane on it
@OhMySack4 жыл бұрын
Get a high wing Cub. The new Horizon Hobby Carbon Cub S2 is an awesome package to get started for $299. Because of your drone experience, you'll be a step ahead on the curve but no way on the Extra 300! It's a twitchy machine with insane control authority that will bite a low time fixed wing pilot. I love mine. It was my 3rd plane starting with the Cub S+, the Trojan T-28, then the Extra 300. I accelerated the curve by flying lots of batteries every day since March but that Extra was STILL a big surprise. I have lots to grow into with this plane. It's cool but the Cub is still a blast, too.

I want to start flying. Do you think the model is suitable for this? Greets from Germany!
@dmithsmith58804 жыл бұрын
No... not if you would like to keep it in one piece lol. Especially If you have never flown a plane before you 100% do not want to start with a precision aerobatic plane. Start with a slower more docile high wing trainer type plane. This is like jumping in the seat of a Lamborghini vs a Powerwheels lol.

@Todd m I like flying fields but I also hate the formality of them. I prefer to do what I want when I want and if I am mindful of people and the flight ceiling then its a free world as far as I am concerned. Its one of the reasons I got into racing quadcopters and FPV. Its very convenient to step outside and just fly.

How would you rate this plane for landing on unprepared surfaces like longer grass or a gravel road? Are the tires too small for this?
@kellysweetman60704 жыл бұрын
It handles well on a well groomed grass field. The tires rubbed on the wheelpants on mine. A little work with a dremel tool and few washers fixed the problem.
@OhMySack4 жыл бұрын
First thing I did out of the box was replace the main gear with Dave Brown lightweight wheels for around $10. They roll quiet and soften the bumps. Gravel might be doable but not so good if it heavy chunky base rock on the surface. Don't be behind it close when taking off! It's powerful and will spray you with rocks!
@Ev0ltion4 жыл бұрын
It might be a dumb question but im just getting into planes how do you determine how long to fly it on a single pack? This plane doesnt have any telemetry with its bnf version. So you just measure time?
@CharlieBriggsUK4 жыл бұрын
Hey man, a good way to do it without complicating everything with telemetry, is to get a rough estimate of the flight time of that battery by Googling forum posts about it (flown in a similar model / power set up), and then set the TX / watch timer to approximately that time. When you get home to put the batts back on storage voltage, note the voltage they are at after flying (and having rested on the journey home). If they are sitting at around 3.7v / cell they are a 'healthy flat' level. Adjust your flight timings accordingly based on the experiments. Start carefully, like Brandon did here (setting 4 mins). You'll find that power-hungry flying of models like this one yield the shortest battery durations, but cruising around on motor gliders like the Bixler, even with a standard 2200 3s, can give half an hour roughly.
@Ev0ltion4 жыл бұрын
@@CharlieBriggsUK well i'm running oversize pack 4300 for clipped wing cub (118cm wingspan) and grom my testing after 12 min i'm at 3,7 per cell (running lihv) btw chęci gens Ace adventure series its made for trial cars but these packs are super light 4300mah 3s lihv 50c are roughly 250grams(mesured by me). Do not much morę than standard 2200 turnigy.
@OhMySack4 жыл бұрын
@@Ev0ltion I run Turnigy 4S 2800 mAh in this plane and with moderate to hard flying, set my timer at 4:30 and come down shortly after it pings. I'm generally always at 3.7V at rest. I also run the little voltage alarms on the balance connector on ALL my plane, set to 3.5V. I seldom activate that unless I'm having too much fun and go well past my time. Even dumping to alarm status, by the time I land and check, the battery is back to 3.6x-3.7V.
