thanks for keeping my love for all things aviation alive. Big up from jamaica; I'm mostly a BMS player but DCS looks awesome

Yeah really good video, ty for that especially explaining the true experience of FFB which is hard to do on video. I’d love to line up the Beast/Rhino/AB9 one day for a comparison
@CommandT2 күн бұрын
Thanks. I’m not sure there’s much of a comparison. They would all be a million times better than a regular joystick but I believe FFBeast gives out far more force than the others. And it’s also solid metal. So I think if you were to really simulate real life forces on things than can generate up to 40lbs… you’d need the Beast!

This looks awesome, I love the F-5. Can FFBeast profiles be shared/downloaded? Or are there default configs for each aircraft baked into the software? You’re a great ambassador for the product but for how insanely expensive/complicated it is, it feels like a big ask to pay so much, wait so long and then have to *also* spend hours researching and tweaking as you’ve done. No doubt it’s worth it, but the process as I understand it is majorly off putting.
@CommandT2 күн бұрын
Some very valid points. So the good thing is, yes, all profiles can be shared, and the developer will start to make various profiles available on the site, including those shared by me and others. Also the software is getting better and better so that profiles can be calibrated easier for each individual since everyone will have slightly different power and max force limits and different length extensions for their sticks. But yes, you’re totally right - atm, it’s not quite a case of plug and play, but it will be at some point in the not too distant future, especially as folk will be able to share profiles between themselves or use ones provided by FFbeast. Oh, and once you feel what it’s like to fly these jets with real forces I think any whiff of a feeling that this is too expensive will disappear in a heartbeat. It really is very hard to describe the difference between this and a regular joystick. It’s just totally transformational and the more I spend time with FFBeast the more I realise this is piece of kit is just absolutely insane. Btw, I was actually wanting to get in touch with you. I’ve seen a couple of your videos. You seem very competent. Do you fancy being involved in one of my videos flying the F-5? I’m looking for one or two extra folk to do a 1v2 and 2v2 BFM scenarios with one of the guys I did some dogfight videos with already. If you’re up for it, let me know! You can film it for your channel too 👌👍

@ I did think that the cost would probably melt away because of how awesome it feels 😂 I’m going to have to take the plunge at some point for sure but trying to navigate a house move in the near future. As for an F-5 related collab, I’m game 👌🏼

I’ve been making one, the components alone are pretty expensive. In Aussie dollars I think I spent 100 for encoders 200 to cut metal 120 for a couple of hoverboard motors 150 for a power supply 100 for an o drive 100 for bearings and bolts belts 80 for pulleys

can you please do a test on the Mi8 module? I'm thinking about grabbing the FFB for that, but I would like to know if it mimics force trim functionality correctly. So in the real thing it works like pressing the force trim button sets the new cyclic position you want, while keeping the button pressed completely unloads the stick for almost no resistance. While not pressed, the stick is very hard to move beyond like 2 deg of deflection. If this behavior can be reproduced by FFB in DCS, I'm down for it. Also, I'm wondering if the guy who makes these would be down with just creating a kit and sell it that way (me thinks he has no time to assemble, hence the loooong waiting list). I'd be willing to pay full price for just the parts and do the assembly myself just to jump the queue lol. Nice video as always.

Regarding helicopters FFBs trim - yes. This is exactly how it works. I don’t have the Mi-8 but this is exactly the same as any other helicopter, and I’m sure Max from Just Fly It will send his Mi-8 profile to FFBeast too, so that will hopefully be available for you as well. And apparently the Mi-8 works extremely well with FFBeast, and has a very realistic force feedback profile compared to the real thing. Regarding sending a kit to you to build - just get in touch with FFBeast and I assume Roman, the guy who runs it will let you know. EDIT, I see Max from Just Fly It has just made a new video with FFBeast and helos: kzbin.info/www/bejne/ranMopVrr9CkjLc

@@CommandT Thanks, that's exactly what I need. Looking to set up an Mi8 sim control as close as possible to the real thing.

Do those thrustmaster pedals you have provide enough resistance to feel somewhat close to realistic?
@CommandTКүн бұрын
Depends - for flying aircraft, meh, so-so. For helicopters - not too bad. I'm used to them so I can switch between helis and planes easily, but most aircraft in real life have much stiffer pedals.

But how can you fly the new F-5E this way, without having big fps lags ? (many of us have fps problems with the new Tiger)
@Hyena_912 күн бұрын
The fps with the F-5E is like a dice roll for me. Most of the time, I get consistent 60fps (vsync on). But after installing Dicord or updating the Nvidia app and running DCS again , I only got 8-10 FPS. Sometimes, a DCS repair helped. Sometimes I neded to delet the Shader folder from de main DCS installation and than running the repair (to freshly download the files). Sometimes uninstalling (with DDU and reinstalling nvidia driver but without the nvidia app fixed it. But when there is only one program on my PC that runs an automatic update i am back on 8-10 fps.

FFB being too strong can be a big downside in my experience. Very cool, but also dangerous and can lead to worse control when you get tired out.
@CommandTКүн бұрын
It's not about worse or not worse, it's about simulating the real thing.
