Thanks for posting again Dick. What are Pots?
@RWRPilotTraining5 жыл бұрын
Hi Lawrence, I’m not sure which video you are referring to, but “pot” is a shorthand name in the electronics world for potentiometer. Pots are used in many designs in many applications. They are a way of varying voltage in a circuit such as dimmers for example.

What's the purpose of using the speed brakes on the ground ? I thought they were not certified for landing on this aircraft...
@RWRPilotTraining5 жыл бұрын
Hi Carl, The PA46 speed brakes are a show stopper on a missed approach so it is imperative to use them only after the decision to land is made. In this aircraft that is more or less in the flare or shortly thereafter. Once deployed in this fashion the right hand must ensure the power lever is at flight idle and then removed from the power lever and placed on the yoke. This reminds the brain that the committment to the landing is finalized. Piper is correct of course in prohibiting speed brakes for landing, so that a go-around is not unduly complicated. It is also true they work quite well for the roll-out to minimize the distance. Back-pressure with brakes completes the procedure. Fly Safely - Train Often .. DR

Pretty place to fly but I'd be scared to fly such a low approach over that water. But I'm not that good of a pilot!

Remember as pilots we are risk mitigators .. not risk takers. Remember that engine stoppage accidents are primarily fuel starvation and other types of pilot error. They represent less than 1.5% of all general aviation accidents. Fly Safely - Train Often .. DR
