Ronnie Cook on Guitar, Scotty Vaughn on drums, Joe Stephenson on fiddle, Vern Thompson of guitar, and Wes English on doghouse bass(the yodeler in the group!)...great bunch of entertainers!

Thank you so much for putting this on here. I miss these guys!! It is so hard to find such a superior group that can play like this and produce such a rich harmonious sound like they did.

This was the "A Team" of Flying W. I was very privileged to be invited to do some studio work on their "Prairie Serenade" CD (c. 2000). I added some western accordion fills to The Gift, Along the Cimarron, Pecos Bill, Five Brothers, Lula Belle. They are such excellent musicians and so supportive. I still see Vern and Joe and Ronnie and Scotty on occasion.

The first time I heard them in 1982. The last time I heard was when they came to our church, sponsored by WMBI. I was running sound that night. Just when they started, their hard drive crashed that had their back ground fill with bass and some other rhythm instruments. So on the fly, they changed their show performance. After about the first 40 minutes they were able to get the backup drive online and do their normal show. In many ways, the first part of the concert was better, as they had to do more fill in with live instrumentation. Brought out a higher level of talent.

I got to go to the Flying W Ranch in 1981-82. I remember buying the album On The Trail and the Flying W Wranglers signed the album. I got to talk to Vern Thompson on the telephone to order a cassette. I am glad you still keep in contact. I remember back then when I was 16-17 years old I got my first taste of Western Music and I Loved It! :-)

I couldn't agree more. I went and saw the new Flying W Wranglers and it just wasn't the same. These guys with their decades of working together created such a beautiful harmony. I loved their deep baritone gruff sound. The new group just sound like they are trying too hard to look good, add too much flare, and they play these cowboy classics way too fast. They are meant to be slower to enjoy and meditate everything beautiful around you.

Saw the Flying W Wranglers in 1993. Learned to yodel from listening to their cassette... for years! Great to see them performing again after such a big loss in 2012. Thanks for posting this one.

I can listen to them all day long. They are the best combination of musicians. Their songs are easy to the ears. I cannot help but fall in love with their songs.

We 1st heard each and everyone of these guys in 1999. Every time we came back to Co-Springs, we made it a point to go the Flying W Ranch. As a matter of fact, we were in the area 2 days after the Waldo Canyon Fire destroyed the Flying W. We had reservations, but for obvious reasons it was cancelled. Hope someday they rise up from the ashes.
