Shadow Mantra Steve Can you tell me in detail about the settings on your amp sim? I've been trying to achieve a similar tone.

Can't find the exact setting I had for this one, but it would have been the LePou 456 amp sim. The signal chain would have been the TSE 808 plugin which acts as a tube screamer to tighten the tone. Drive set very low, tone set to taste. It is more just to keep the low end in check. Then the Le456 on the Hi Gain channel. On a similar project I've got the bass at 10 o'clock, mids at 11 o'clock, treble at 2 o'clock, and contour at 2 o'clock. This then feeds into the LeCab impulse response loader. I have two impulses loaded, the God's Cab 57 TS grill edge press 3 impulse and a Diezel impulse - though I can't remember where I found that one. The blend is about 40% God's cab, 60% Diezel. After I've recorded the clean DI I bounce it out through the above signal chain. I then tend to do a bit more processing. I run logic so use the tape delay with the delay set to 0ms to act as tape saturation and warm the sound up a bit. Then will be eq. Rolling off below around 160hz to give the bass room to breath and rolling off anything above around 15/16khz. There's normally some small subtractive cuts around 500/700hz, 2.5khz, 4khz, depends on how it's sounding. Next would be a compressor, around 4:1 ratio with 2-3db reduction, attack 20ms / release 50ms or so. That's the general idea. Also I run Logic if you were curious. Good luck \m/
