1992 Hurricane Andrew was my 1st memory of a Hurricane we lived in Baton Rouge, I was about 5 years old and I can remember it tearing down our fence as I watched through the window. One of my earliest memories.

Hurricane Juan was my first memory. Lived in Marrero, LA in Jefferson Parish It rain seemed like forever Bayou Segnette flooded and the pumping system failed. I was 8 and I remember every storm mentioned since then hence my infatuation. 2 of them I walked in flood water to evacuate to higher ground. Katrina was worst ever and the 2nd time I lost everything I owned. Now I live in Waveland, Ms much closer to the Gulf. Love the series

Hurricane Florence was my first hurricane memory. However, there are five hurricanes ill never forget: Andrew, Katrina, Gustav, Zeta, and Ida. My parents experienced firsthand the devastation on Hurricane Betsy and Camille. Also, my great grandmother told me stories about her experiences surviving the 1915 hurricane.

Edith was my first hurricane memory. I was really worried when my mom said the eye was going to pass right through Lafayette. I was worried about the arrival of a giant eyeball!!!

I was born and raised in the lower 9th ward (ctc) My great grandmother always worn us about hurricanes. She said never stay home when hurricane is coming to New Orleans. Once they close the flood gates we will be stuck in the 9th ward. She also told us how to survive if we get stuck in the 9th ward. My oldest sister still lives in the lower 9th ward in the same neighborhood . I moved to the Northshore life is great.

I remember one from the 60's and a few during the 70's but the first real one that I can say I really remember was when Rita came to Texas looking for her sister Katrina and trust when we heard Rita was on her way we got out of Beaumont. We had people in our city that were displaced from New Orleans they stopped here in Beaumont, you didn't have to tell them twice to get out of dodge we all hurdled up out of here, in the blink of an eye we were gone.

Judging from this video hurricane Edith has to be what I am remembering at Baton Rouge in 1971. Vivid memories of my dad and his friends outside on the street leaning into the wind and not falling on their face. Went to another window and could see huge pine trees snapping and falling over. The following day or two their were workers cutting limbs from broken trees and someone left a chain saw by a bridge on my street. My mom (told me later in life) that she called city parish to tell them and they came and got it. I am 55 now and at that time I was 5 years old.

My mom was pregnant for my sister for Andrew. Their neighborhood was hit by the tornado in LaPlace. Thankfully, their house was spared!
