My cockatiel passed out today, peacefully in my hand. Right from the moment, I noticed that she refused to eat, being quiet, sat sadly on the floor, not being able to balance herself on the perch, I knew that she was sick. I got her medicine (for common sickness in birds) and kept her warm with a heating bulb - sadly I had to cure her this way because my city is lock-down and no avian vets are opened nor anyone can go out. She got well after a night, she craved food, flew around, chirped loudly, being extremely affectionate, played with her mate, acted completely as normal. 3 days after that - she got sick again, and this time things didn't end well... She couldn't eat, couldn't even walk toward the warmth from the heating bulb... I still cannot figure out the cause of her death. My heart is broken into pieces . . .

I learned about morning poop in birbs when i was caring for a little fledgling robin, about the size of a golf ball and weighed just 40 grams. I went to check on him in the morning, gave him some pats, and he climbed on my finger. Sounds normal, until he took the biggest sh*t to body ratio I’ve ever seen. Out of curiosity I took the paper towel with the poop and weighed it. Fourteen.Point.Five.Grams. This little dude shat roughly half his body weight. I was impressed.

Great video, I can see that you did a lot of research. My budgie Dollie died a few months ago after she lived with us for 12 years. We immediately noticed something was wrong; she was silent, she sat with 'wide' feathers (don't know the english expression for this sorry, but i hope you get what i mean), she was less active than normal and at times she would make gagging movements. I knew something was wrong and called the vet. They told me to wait it out for a night, as birds can also have a cold and she might get better. The next day she was not better at all, she was even sitting on the floor of the cage and couldnt sit upright anymore. It broke my heart. We went to the vet and got some medicine for lung parasites. The meds made her lively again at first, but over the course of a few weeks this cycle repeated itself and we knew we could not save her anymore. I guess I just wanted to say that when you spend a lot of time with your birds, you will notice if something is off. Just make sure to call the vet, you know your bird and you will often be right.
@funkyfreakyandfabulous97433 жыл бұрын
What kind of avian vet would tell you to wait a night?! That's terrible!! I'm so sorry to hear that. Action should have been taken by the vet as soon as you told them. Even if it had not helped I know for a fact that one extra night certainly didn't either. Poor bird and poor owner I'm so sorry you went through that 😥

@@funkyfreakyandfabulous9743 yes I dit not expect that advice either.. she also did not do any tests except feeling the crop and immediately gave medication. The next week I went to another vet further away and he actually did do tests (but it was still unclear what the problem was). I just lost my "little girl", a 24 1/2 year old, beautiful, Female Lutino Cockatiel 3 days ago, just this past Saturday. She lost her cute little voice about 2 weeks ago, and no place I searched online had any answers, and no bird store I called knew what it was or what to do about it, and there are no avian veterinarians that I could find, or that they could recommend, anywhere near me. I had hoped it was perhaps just a case of laryngitis like people sometimes get (I got it once), and her voice would return after a few good night's sleep... but it didn't. Her voice kept getting softer and softer each day over the course of the week, until I could barely hear her at all. She had a pretty good vocabulary, and I depended on her to tell me when she was thirsty so I would know to go get her some water when she needed it, and since she couldn't speak or even chirp hardly at all, we made a lot of unnecessary trips upstairs to her cage only to find she didn't want to drink anything. At the end of that week, I noticed that I was beginning to be able to hear her breathing as she sat on my shoulder and huddled close to me, and knew that I shouldn't be able to, and that she actually had a respiratory infection. I searched and searched for some kind of remedy online that was made specifically for birds, but the only thing I was able to find to help her was “Morning Bird Immune System Booster”, so I ordered it right up, and it arrived on the following Monday, which I began giving to her in her water immediately. Every time she would take a drink of her water, I would think she's getting more of this immune booster into her system, and helping her immune system to get stronger to help fight off the infection, as they claimed it would, but she remained the same day after day, her body managing keeping the infection at bay, but with her still being able to breathe freely… …until sometime on Friday. A day when I had to go somewhere and had leave her alone for about 9 hours. Something that now, looking back, I realize that I never should have done. She depended on me to provide her with the help that she needed, at what was the equivalent of being a 98 year old were she human. I have never left her on her own for more than 1 or 2 hours, as she's gotten older, knowing that she needed me to be there, and that she depended on me to take care of her, and to help her so much. But my judgment was clouded for some reason, and I never should have left her, and yet being oblivious to the position I was putting her in, feeling helpless, feeling abandoned, left alone, worrying, frightened, all of which I should have realized, and yet somehow I didn't, I never should have left her and yet I did… and somehow, unbelievably, expected all to be well, with her being okay and happy to see me and wanting to come out and to be with me as she always did when I got back home… But when I got home, expecting to go upstairs to her room and find her happy to see me and welcoming me home again, and eager to come out of her cage, instead I found her in great respiratory distress, with her beak open, fighting to take every breath, panicking, and yes, relieved and happy to finally see me, but frightened, and incredibly fearful, as she realized that she was doing battle this with death, and that her time on this earth was coming to an end, and that unless I, the one who had always been her protector, who had kept her safe, always took care of her every need, and always saved her from any danger that she ever got into, could find some way of helping her, of rescuing her, of saving her... my adorable, and beautiful, and oh so cherished “little girl”. I was dog tired that night when I got back home, barely able to stand, I was so fatigued from all I had done earlier that day, but suddenly I had an emergency on my hands, and being someone who has been involved in natural healing for over 50 years, I set about to do whatever I could to find a remedy, to find anything I could to help her, to save her, and to allow her to live and to remain with me, so she could perhaps die a natural death in her sleep a year or a year and a half from now, which I have no doubt she would have been able to achieve, as she had always been so healthy and active all of her life, right up until this occurred. I tried a many, many things over the course of the next 18 hours, as we did battle with this thing, and none of them worked but only providing temporary relief for perhaps 5 minutes or so before the congestion came back again in full force… I did find one thing that promised to provide her with the relief she needed, and was made specifically for birds that had not shown up for some reason in all of my searches earlier in the week, it was called VetRx (bird remedy for respiratory relief) and contained camphor, which could be absorbed through her feet, and seemed to hold the greatest promise of all, but there was no "overnight delivery" available, which I needed, and it was not going to arrive for another 48 hours, but I ordered it anyway, being so desperate, but knowing it would never arrive in time to save my "little girl". So, I relied on my background, knowledge, and experience with natural healing, and did my best to come up with every possible remedy that was safe and that might work… ...and some of the things I tried were foreign to her, like trying to use a water dropper to try to get some herbal tea I had brewed and cooled with safe herbs that would have helped clear up the congestion to just help her breathe a bit more freely again, but the dropper frightened her, only adding to her distress, and she wasn't having it at all. I tried everything I knew of, and did additional research a few times, desperately hoping to find something, anything, that might be able to provide her with some kind of relief that I might be able to have overnighted to me to arrive in the morning, when it still might be able to help her... but found there simply wasn't anything else available that I could find. ...and after 18 solid hours of watching her do battle with this severe and advancing respiratory infection, breathing with her beak open, and struggling so hard to breathe with every breath, in the end I found myself standing there, totally helpless, and could only watch as she died right before my very eyes, to my own great distress and felt such terrible, terrible heartbreak, as my "little girl" died. I am still in shock as I sit here tonight. My "little girl" is gone from me now… and it's my fault. I never should have left her alone for so long on this past Friday. I should have known what it would do to her, that she would be stressed, being left alone, and that she would have worried, not knowing when I would come back, and that that stress and worry would have suppressed her immune system, made her not want to eat or to drink without me being with her, and that it would have allowed the infection to gain the upper hand and advance… …and that at her age, such an infection could so easily advance like that if she was put in a position like she was put into, as I put her into… in my stupidity, and my obliviousness that had somehow occurred to leave her alone as I had… …and my negligence, and obliviousness, somehow not realizing what I would be doing to her by staying away for so long, is ultimately what ended up actually causing her death. My "little boy", who I got about 3 years before her, he lived to the human equivalent of 105 years old, and my "little girl" was healthier than he was in their "Super Senior" years (80+ human equivalent), and there was no reason she should not have been able to have exceeded his years with me. They were both my little friends, my little companions, my little buddies, my little partners, and they both had an extensive vocabulary of around 50 words and could not only understand what I was saying when I talked with them, but they could communicate with me, as well. They were my constant companions altogether for a total of 26 1/2 years, and now, the house is silent. The house is so empty here now without them being here with me, as they always had been throughout all of those years. They made this house a home with all of the love that was in their little hearts; they filled this whole house with all of their love… …and now it's just a house, and I find myself sitting here now each day and every night, by myself, and all alone, missing them, missing both of them, so very, very much, and with the images of what I just experienced trying to rescue my little girl, trying so desperately to save my "little girl" for a solid 18 hours, continuing to come back to me, as my mind goes over it all over and over again, searching for anything that I may have missed, anything I could have done that I didn't do, anything that I didn't think of, and I can't help but to find myself being able to do nothing else but to keep breaking down and crying, and sobbing so deeply… I miss her so much, and all I can do is cry... and miss her… my sweet, sweet, adorable, beautiful, “little girl”…

So i got a peach-faced lovebird that's a little over 6 months now and every since he came to us he's been acting a bit strange. He's been getting really frustrated and when he does he starts choking and needs help to puke his food out which also never helps cause he just keeps flapping his wings, running around and choking. We thought that maybe the sunflower seeds were too big for him and he might be choking on those so we stopped giving them to him but it didn't stop. This month we thought that maybe it was getting better but these past days it only got worse and worse so we finally took him to vet. She listened to how he was breathing and said he was fine. I know he's not so we showed her one of the videos where he obviously was choking and getting frustrated over it and all she said was "Oh he's just playing". I don't know what else to do. I know I'm not overreacting and vet was my last option. It will only keep happening but apparently he's "fine". Anyone knows what could be wrong with him and any tips on what to do now?

Im quite worried about one of my lovebirds since i never really heared him making any sounds besides a kind of whispering or hissing. Sometimes he also moves his head and crop weirdly like hes either catching air or trying to swallow something. They are still very young (about 22 weeks now) and i don't know if its due to his young age or a disease😟

I was wondering because my bird was laying on the floor with his belly down and we were worried if he was ok he was also letting us pet him which is unusual for him because he Doesn’t like us petting him. Any suggestions of what to do to make him be more happier and active?

My bird is sleeping throughout most of the day, constantly closes its eyes, stays at its food bowl, and the poop is all wormy and lacks the white stuff when its poop wasn't like that yesterday. What could be wrong?

Flying fids can you make a video how to train your bird to go on you're shoulder no problem. Who wants a video like that

I found out my budgie is vomiting which is CONSIDERED A SIGN OF SICKNESS. I took it to a vet I've known for, and he said: Sometimes males express their affection for other parrots or humans. Sometimes, however, it is due to some inflammation of the neck. If the vomit does not smell sour and unpleasant, it is not a big problem. If there is more smelly porridge, the diet will need to be adjusted. To give scalded, boiled rice chamomile tea. No sharp seeds for a while.

I have a parakeet, and he has dark green poops when he freshly poops, but when it dries or I’m not looking it’s black poop that’s dried with a little bit of white is that normal?

My bird recently passed away, I gave it food, water, and warmth, but it wasn't enough to keep it alive. So when am looking at this video right now, am assuming it died from sickness, rather from the cold.

Hey love ur vids ❤️! I’m getting a puppy soon and it’s going to grow to be a big dog like the one you have I’m scared it won’t like my bird did you do anything to make sure they got along ?
@adrianamidnight87363 жыл бұрын
No, never keep a bird and a dog together. Watch them all the time, as prey animal, bird should never be around dog, cat, or anything that hunt bird.
@funkyfreakyandfabulous97433 жыл бұрын
I agree. Keep them separate.

I have just lost my lovebird.. first he was vomiting the food then had an only creamy white droppings at the beginning then blood came out with it at the last day he had only blood in his droppings with weight loss and tiredness.. the Vet recommend it was a bacterial problem and gave some yellowish powder to mix with water and feed him in the morning for ten days.but my bird only lasted few hours later in that very same day😢

I have an 8 week cockatiel that just came home with me last week. She is still in formula. Her poop has heated and urine. The feces seems not as solid as some of your pictures. Is that normal with baby formula?

Ok this scared me cuz I have a budgie and after my birthday and before my moms birthday we wanted a bird and a beautiful yellow budgie appeared at my room window! We brought her to the shop and the vets said she has et eaten for 4 days! We fed her and she does not show any of these bad signs so few! Tysm I love your birds and you! But can you do how to train your bird?
@ruesneptune Жыл бұрын
My cockatiel just switched to Harrison’s pellets and dr Harvey’s cockatiel seed mix recently and her poo has a bit of an odor when it’s super fresh, I’m concerned because I’ve never experienced this 😥she’s been acting totally normal preening eating and drinking normally, I’m really worried about her 😢 UPDATE: i stopped feeding her the harrisons pellets and dr harveys seeds, i had a big bag of tops pellets laying around and fed her that, im not sure what was going on but the odor in her droppings stopped after i stopped feeding her harrisons and dr harveys seeds, i will be continuing to feed her tops instead of harrisons. im glad i caught that before something really bad could have happend, nonetheless i still plan to schedule a appointment with the vet and get some tests done just to make sure shes actually okay
