We Explored Transylvania in Romania | Most Scenic Train + Corvins Castle

The time has arrived we are finally heading into Transylvania and wow do we have a fun episode today including going on Romania's most scenic train ride, staying in some Transylvania log cabins and heading to our first Romanian castle.
After waking up at our little village hotel we had an incredible breakfast before making our way out to Oravita train station to catch an incredibly beautiful train ride from Oravita to Anina which takes 2 hours on one of the oldest trains in the country.
There we carried onto our accommodation - the Transylvania Log Cabins:

1. Iancu de Hunedoara (John Hunyad)'s father was a Vlach (Romanian) nobleman called Vajk/Voicu. His son, Matthias Corvinus, was a King of Hungary. 2. Vlad the Impaler was a prisoner in Visegrad castle, north of Budapest, not in Hunyad castle. Nevertheless, Vlad the Impaler spent some time here as a child with his cousin, Stephen the Great of Moldavia. (Vlad was born in Transylvania, while his father was exiled and Stephen was exiled following his father's assassination) Trivia: Vlad the Impaler's wife was a cousin of Mathias Corvinus, son of John Hunyad. Also, Vlad the Impaler was not the first ruler who used impaling, just that he used it more than other means of execution. The first ruler who used it in the Romanian lands was none other than Saint Stephen the Great of Moldavia, Vlad's cousin. Actually, it was a pretty common method of execution back then, and it originates in the Byzantine Empire. Vlad's notoriety comes from the fact that he impaled noblemen who committed crimes. Noblemen were usually beheaded, impaling being used mostly for common folk.

@@sidharthsharma2637 we spent 8 nights in Brasov (used it as a base). We used Airbnb and stayed in a 70 square metre apartment in the heart of the old town. Cost $540 AUD for the accommodation. We have good friends who live there so they drove us around during our stay. We ate out each night and it cost about $50 AUD for the two of us including tips (could probably do it cheaper than that).

@@flyingthenest we based ourselves in Brasov and did day trips with our friends to Sighisoara, Rupea, Sinaia, Peles Castle, Bran Castle, Rasnov, Poiana and a few other little places. We only scratched the surface so we can't wait to go back and explore a lot more of the country. That Ravens Nest looked stunning guys! We didn't travel very far from Brasov because our friends have children that they had to get back to each day. : ) I fell in love with the Langos and the Kurtos Kalacs!!

guys travel to Romania in the summer,in the winter is depressing ,cold and black,in the summer you should definitely include on your list Delta Dunarii or Danube Delta ,Portile de fier ale Dunarii or Iron gates of the Danube ,the place these guys went,Apuseni mountains where is also the eagle nest but they arr spectacular and so few people visit them,Turda Salt mine,Turda gorges ,Rimetea a Unesco little village ,there is also an old ruined castle nearby,Gradina zmeilor which translate into The dragons garden a beautiful place in Transylvania in Salaj county ,Peles castle spectacular and ofcourse the 2 epic roads Transfagarasan and Transalpina

It's a great spot for beautiful views, and back in the time before Romans occupied my country, Deva was the capital of Dacia, ancient name of Romania. There is a statue of president of Dacia, named Decebal in the centre of city Deva! Deva is also the city where Nadia Comaneci was born and went to the Sports School and became the great Olympic gold champion in gymnastics back in 70's the school is near Cetatea Devei also! 13:29 There are no different food cultures in the 3 regions of Romania. Those from Moldova, Wallachia or Transylvania eat the same and we all talk the same. There are some Hungarian dishes such as Gulas that all Romanians eat and those in Moldova because it is good food: D

Romania has to be the best country in europe when it comes to views and cities. Beside the fact that everything is so cheap, people there are more likely to be so generous and polite only because they want to show off their beautiful country and because there are not that many tourists so they haven't had enough with them like the Westic countries people do
