Our Dream White Christmas in Rovaniemi, Finnish Lapland | Santa Claus Village

This is the most Christmas-sy vlog I think we will ever make - welcome to our dream White Christmas here in the Finnish Lapland as we stay at Santa Claus Village and meet the big man himself.

After our very quick flight from Helsinki up to the Finnish Lapland in Rovaniemi, the capital of Finland's Lapland and the official home of Santa Claus - this is Jess's ultimate Christmas destination.
We checked into our cute red little cabin at the Santa Claus Holiday village and then went out and visited Santa's post office, which receives over 500,000 letters a year.
We then went and met the big man himself, Santa Claus at his house, moved into our room and did a quick Finnish sauna in the snow.
The next day we went on a Reindeer sleigh ride, bought some presents and said our goodbyes.

Just letting you know 2019 was a bad winter especially in the south so in lapland 2021 february I was told there was well over 1 Meter of snow and -30˚C

In a bad scenario it can get -50C in Lapland. While I was in in Lapland while in the army, I was 3 days in the forest without a tent, building phone cable connections, and it was -42C to -45C. Not a nice weather to be outside a long period. When I got finally into a tent, the boots were frozen around the feet, from sweat: had to wait until the ice melted to get the boots off.

Love Lapland! I went when I was about 12 years old and it is still so memorable. We actually skipped the Santa bit (my parents hate that kind of thing) and went straight to the snow! We also get a Christmas decoration from everywhere we travel!

Ah man, this just makes me want to go back to Scandinavia 😍 We did the Polar Night in Norway a few years ago and it was magical! We also went to a traditional Sami reindeer settlement to meet the reindeers, have a sleigh ride, and sit in a lavvu (tipi) around a warm fire. The best! 🙌❄️

My family and I also collect Christmas ornaments from around the world. Growing up, it’s great decorating the tree and talking about the story of each ornament. It’s a beautiful tradition!!
