Your videos regarding this matter are much more educational to me than you ever could have imagined, and not in the ways I would have expected. Key takeaways for me were 1) Remember that when people are jerks, acting like they've told you a hundred times already, they are conflating you with 'the mob', whom they have indeed told a hundred times already; 2) When I've told 'the mob' a hundred times already, the individuals haven't been notified, and truly don't know, no matter how obvious it may seem; 3) Other people, (e.g., you) manage to demonstrate grace and forgiveness when dealing with that situation, from either end. I should do better with my own patience. Lastly, maybe karma is real. Your (and the scammer's) actions in this case did not have appropriate *direct* effects. But, while we will never know all the cascading indirect consequences that befall the scammer, you got a ton of exposure & goodwill, and hopefully video monetization far exceeding production costs plus your $500 'educational expense'. I think this may help me set aside desires for vengeance. Thanks for posting and thanks for being a thoughtful and reasonable person.

All the strangers calling in saying “hey give me his phn number…” Keep in mind some could actually be attorneys or litigation pros hoping you fall for it so they can help him sue you big time for giving out private info. One lesson from this situation is that if you ever do a scam exposure video you need to clarify that you do not want anyone to harass him or try to get revenge on him for you, but that the only intention was to warn people so they can both avoid that person as well as learn from the situation to gain more awareness on how these scams are done. That way you can deny liability if someone tries to act on your behalf and try to go after whoever is being exposed since you can claim that you made it clear that was not something you wanted and even clarified that such action should not be taken.
@peves-8 ай бұрын
Yeah exposing a scammer pretty much unleashes him to every type of person on the other end of this screen. And some of them have dark thoughts like the guy who wanted to do a drive by. People don't like scammers so putting them out here you give him to the drive by guy, the hackers, the researchers, the trolls, police, every type of person you can imagine and a lot of people on the internet are bored and looking for some way to get back at a person like Melvin, if that's his real name. The bottom line is that now he is fucked whether the intent was good or not. He will get into trouble with people he doesn't want trouble from because they have already seen these videos and now it's open season on Melvin.

Dude, I give you a lot of credit and can tell you're a very honest and nice person. I disagree about you "owing" Melvin an apology though. This entire situation came about due to his willful and purposeful act of scamming you, and he tried to scam you out of a whole lot more than five hundred dollars. All you did was try to warn other potential victims of Melvin Johnson, and if inadvertently his phone number got out, so be it. I can find someone from anywhere, especially if I know their name and what state they live in, including phone number and address too, within a few minutes online. You owe this loser NO apology.
