This song works in two different ways, for each of the characters it represents. For Cinder's context, it's about actually MAKING all things die. Wiping out life, at least as we know it, and that this will happen one way or another. That was her goal, and Salem's goal, from what we understand. In context for Raven, it's about accepting the futility of everything. Nothing lasts forever, everything ends at some point. So why bother fighting against it? It works for both characters. Though I probably didn't explain it very well.

It seems like a Group of people dislike Raven, I would beg to differ. She is very interesting and exciting to see on the screen, as she is rather unpredictable and fast-paced. Her skills in fighting makes her even cooler as a character. I am very pleased that she defeated Cinder the way she did, Cinder may not be completely dead. However, Cinder being dead or not; I am glad the fight ended the way it did. This song really made the end of the fighting extra cool as well! I cannot wait to see Raven return and kick even more ass. Volume 6 here we come.

She *is* really, really interesting. The contrast between her obsession with strength and the fact that, at the end of the day, despite how strong she was, defeating one of Salem's strongest agents, she left the responsibility of defending something up to her daughter, someone vastly weaker than herself. She is as much a coward as Leo was, but in a very different way and it makes her one of the most interesting characters in the show. Of all people, Raven seems like the one least likely to be *afraid* of Salem. Her constant assertions that "there's no beating Salem!" Sound almost suspicious. Think about it. What if the real reason Raven keeps saying this is because she doesn't *want* Salem to be defeated? And I don't mean that she wants Salem to win, either. So this song is basically a conversation between raven and cinder? I can tell some parts are raven cause of parts like “embers extinguished in effigy” Raven is talking about cinders grim arm. Although it can be strong, it may also be her biggest weakness, seeing that aura doesn’t protect it. Also “Gleefully voicing this eulogy” is cinder. She says that Raven speaks highly of vernal. (eulogy is something that praises someone highly, typically someone who has just died) “Spawn of the tenets of treachery” cinder is following the god of darkness, the one that created the grim.
