FlySky FRM302 and OpenTX Setup Guide

OpenTX 2.3.10 finally supports the Long-Range 2.4GHz radio system from FlySky, the FRM302. Here is a tutorial on how to:
- flash the FlySky FRM302 OpenTX compatible firmware
- Configure the AFHDS3 transmitter module
- Bind to FTR16S

hi pawel... last night I updated my nirvana & frm302 fw. then my frm302 could not be used ... they said status : not ready power source : unknown..?(iam used 2s external power)

hello pawel I accidentally updated the frm302 firmware to open tx and maybe that's why I can't bind my ftr16s with my paladin pl18. I wanted to ask you if you can go back to the frm302 firmware version that works with the pl18. Thank you

AFHDS3 uses Semtech 1280 RF chip. Is it possible to flash FRM302 to ELRS which uses the same chip? I hope this would also apply to the new Flysky Elysium = Nirvana NV14 which would make them awesome radios.

Not sure if the MCU that drives the SX1280 is compatible with ELRS. I mean, ELRS is ESP32/ESP

Can I fly together with my friends who also use the 2.4 GHz system with the frm302 module, or does that lead to signal interference

It will depend on your power levels and how close you are. If everyone else is using short range 2.4 I would recommend keeping your power level around 100mw so that you don't inadvertently bleed over and jam their signal... These are fcc part 15 devices meaning they have to accept any interference on the frequency and could create interference as well, more power can sometimes mean more noise.

Pawel, you are quite a guy with these videos. By the way, being a flyer who comes from Futaba into Open Tx and Radio Master TX16S, what would be your recommendation to buy new receivers and flight controllers (best cost-benefit), to be used in planes and helis? Regards

What's the current consumption at 2W? Would a 21700 battery be able to provide enough current?

The battery will be able to supply enough power just the radio won't be able to I think

@@H.J.B But.. pin 3 of the JR bay is literally Vbat. I measured R9M current on pin 3 at 1W of power and it's ~230mA with a 7.7V battery. When I connect an external 3S to the XT30 the current is 150mA with a 11.6V pack so it's pretty much the same power.

As far as i know ibus is a serial protocol like sbus. It is uninverted and slightly lower latency compared to sbus. But maybe the latency was not ibus/sbus based but D16 vs. ADHFS2A.
