Flywheel removial on a stihl 028 wood boss

You should never hit a flywheel with a hammer/always use a flywheel puller.....and don't be fooled [piston stop tools] only damage the tops of pistons as well as spark plug thread ports on a cylinder[use a piece of string its safer]

Best to insert the rope near top dead centre to avoid getting the rope caught up in the exhaust or inlet port.

Couldn't you just hold the center of the tool with a wrench?

I wouldn't recommend it .....But would it work ? {Yes} just use caution as you could break the flywheel .

You would if a viewer was unsure of what tool or where to get it was a issue . And the proper tool can make all the difference between a job well done as to a job that some one went after with a hammer .
