The more I see you use that little lathe the more impressive it seems. I think a larger threaded knob for the rear cover might be good. Also a locking lever for the tailstock so you don't need the allen wrench. Cheers, Alan.

I added the cover knob in place of the cap screw that was fitted. I am thinking magnetic catch now. I have some levers on order to replace the tailstock and saddle locks. We think alike.

@William Tell Do you mean the handwheels? Edit: I think you mean these. www.aliexpress.com/item/1005002058437300.html?spm=a2g0o.order_list.0.0.5cd81802hmDZD3 They should be here any day now as tracking shows they have arrived in the UK. I can update you later to confirm if they are suitable.

The handles arrived and are good. You need different sizes and a spacer is needed for the tailstock spindle clamp and a small mod for the saddle clamp. Can you emial me for the details. myfordboy@gmail.com

Very nice finish, also you did it quick. I can imagine when the winter comes and you don't won't to get out to the workshop, you can have the little lathe on your lap or on kitchen table, basically a mobile lathe :)

I was just about to ask "why have you bought that tiny little lathe, when you've got a big one that's far more capable?" but then it hit me. I'm guessing ou've bought that tiny little lathe to do tiny little lathe bits that could be challenging on your larger lathe. Am I correct by any chance?
@myfordboy
@myfordboy 2 жыл бұрын
You are correct. This little lathe is better at small parts with it's higher speed. I also liked the idea of making accesories as a project.

Is that a run of the mill inexpensive mini lathe or is it a higher quality unit? It certainly is more capable than I figured it to be.

It seems similar looking lathes are all made by Sieg but each supplier has their own specification so this one could be better than others.

I had wondered the same thing. One thing I noticed was the threaded spindle which looks to be an improvement over the faceplate you have to bolt everything to.

Is the lathe designed to be turned on n off by the rheostat? I’m afraid it may ware out.
@dennythomas8887
@dennythomas8887 2 жыл бұрын
Many manufactures of these electronic variable speed machines recommend always starting from "0" spindle RPM to avoid damage to the speed controller on start up.

So it is designed to be operated by the rheostat. Cool
@mark314158
@mark314158 2 жыл бұрын
@@iteerrex8166 It's not a rheostat. The actual potentiometer is a low current device which controls the electronic speed controller.
