This turned out very well, much better than my recently failed attempt to make a collet chuck for my Unimat. I will have to use your method on a redo. 👍

I saw your video ,Jim. Those collets were a good buy but a bit large for the Unimat. Best to keep the overhang small as possible.

@@myfordboy I wouldn't. There were a number of questionable workshop practices- one example, establishing the centre in the mill using a cone held in a Jacobs chuck. Mounting any chuck only using bolts, rather than a turned feature is to be deprecated.
@myfordboy

@@Tensquaremetreworkshop Best to get your facts right before you criticise. Not a Jacobs chuck but a live center with a MT 2 taper direct in the spindle of the mill.

Superb little collet chuck 👍👍👍👍 Your ER11 set looks just like my ER16 set, also came from Banggood. Can't remember how much but I know they were very reasonable. Cheers, Alan.

Would it be safe to say that one of your next projects will be a tray or rack to hold the er-11 collects? I enjoy watching your videos as they are well produced and need few words to explain what you are doing

Is "blackening" the same as "blueing" ?
@myfordboy
@myfordboy 2 жыл бұрын
Not quite the same. I understand blueing is heating the metal and plunging into oil. There are similar products used by gunsmiths.

Ah HA! You've finally revealed yourself Stig! I've captured the fingerprint from your left index finger and will soon know just who is the man behind the protective clothing. Hmmm... slight flaw in my plan. Any chance you know anyone who could give me access to a fingerprint database?

Why are you relying on a solder joint to take cutting pressures...?
@myfordboy

Silver soldered is very strong and perfectly adequate. Maybe you do not understand silver soldering.

A little disappointing- you did not make a collet chuck, you mounted one. As concentricity depends on four bolts, it would be wise to fit dowels- any number of events could cause the bolts to move.

hi David is their a reason why you are selling out to made in China products ? i seem to see more and more your channel is show products from China you beatiful looking lathe myford and which is made in england and your using this crappy looking lathe from China ?
@myfordboy
@myfordboy 2 жыл бұрын
Most tools at hobby level seem to be made in China even if you buy them here. I wanted a small high speed lathe to compliment the Myford and the Axminster one fits the bill. It is well made and accurate. Not crappy at all.

@@myfordboy i understand but for some reason when a youtuber starts getting big like big subs number , they start doing doing BG or ali sponsors and none of that is made in Canada or England or USA its all made in China i thought your content was different , i am pretty sure u dont need the money from this sponsors so why would you even make your channel look like other peoples channel you have a unique content i would it that way instead of selling it out to this people. and if you really want to make money put a web site up with stuff your making i would buy it from you.
