FM Ham Radio Satellite SO-50

Welcome back!
Join me for a beautiful pass of Satellite SO-50. This was a nice clean pass with lots of great operators joining the fun. N8RO was just slamming out the contacts on this pass! Great job Ronald!!
SO-50 has weakened considerably the last year and a half. It has gotten incredibly hard for the portable stations to hear at a low angle. Even with the Mini 70 preamp lit up best I could muster was around 7 degrees to get in.
Ah the joys of 70’ oak trees🤦🏻‍♂️

Another good pass. Yes Ron N8RO always has a very good signal. I have to say Rob your mannerism on the air is a real testament of how this hobby should be.

I appreciate that Terry! Yeah I could be like a lot of others and just crank the power and bulldoze my way through. That is what I fight against though. I want to promote proper operation and help the community grow, not make more bad operators. If everyone had a style like several Of us including you, it would allow SO many more to get on a pass. I try to show how to listen and attack.

Hey Bob, on SO-50 is there a setting on the radio I need to do on the 9700 for my tone . CSN turns off tone even though it shows 67. I tried to set manual and turn tone on but then CSN turns it off. Any advise would be super great man. thanks

Click on the receive frequency when you have SO50 selected. That pops up a small menu. You should be able to save the tone in that and it will stay active.
