Thank you Fredrich! I agree 100 percent. The two biggest lessons I learned from Lou, ALWAYS run a resonant Antenna DO NOT rely on a tuner EVER, and Always make sure your audio is as LOUD and Clear as possible. That way even if your signal strength is not there, they will still hear you and when the signal is there it looks like you are running a KW! The goal of this channel is for me to Elmer those that do not have one, and showcasing all the other operators. Because at the end of the day if it wasn't for everyone else on the air, it would get boring just listening to me LOL... If an idiot like me can figure out satellites, so can everyone else, that grows the community and gets us more grids active. Thanks for watching and commenting, 73!

He helped me build my first power supply, and gave me more advice than anyone else in my early years. I always loved his callsign, and now I am keeping the W0CuteYoungChic going in his memory. When assembling the elevation on top of the AZ in the bracket, how did you know which way to install such that when the base is pointed north, the Elevator and antennas in them will go up versus down when you point the antenna to the north? I always get it backwards and have to reinstall the elevator motor. I must be missing something
@W0CYC-HamRadioEndeavors

Great question!! I put the rotator on a pole in my vise, hooked up the control cable and control box on the work bench. Then ran the rotor fully each way several times. Once I knew I had maximum Travel each way, I marked the housing to face North when the rotor had run fully left and locked at North according to the stop and the rotor Box. Then mounted the Elevation rotor and ran the same test for elevation with it and marked the perfect mid point of travel for 90 degrees and zero lock. Once that was done I test fitted the antenna array and leveled everything off and set the rotor voltage according to compass headings with corrected magnetic declination

Not sure how much power he had going but he was keying over every single operator trying to get in. As you can see the Time I tried making contact with him he still couldn’t hear much of anything.

he is saying KC0ECQ 1D MO. 1D MO is the Field Day exchange. 1D is the station class; MO is the section (Missouri). Of course EM48 is the grid, but grids are not needed for Field Day.
@W0CYC-HamRadioEndeavors
@W0CYC-HamRadioEndeavors 16 күн бұрын
Hey Aaron! As the other commenter stated it is purely the field day exchange. I do not participate in contests, but when I operate during them, I make sure to give the contest station the info they need. Giving the information immediately during my call to them drastically cuts the exchange time down. For instance I would say KF0NKI…KC0ECQ 1D MO QSL. All I would need from you is a QSL exchange and we both move on and open the repeater back up for anyone else. 73!

@W0CYC-HamRadioEndeavors
@W0CYC-HamRadioEndeavors 25 күн бұрын
Hey Mike, It is RS-44. The frequencies you listed in the comment are the correct ones for JO-97 though. In this video I moved around on a couple of them because the other operator wasn't centered where the SAT places you automatically. So, I assume they were not using the SAT. I find that every so often, someone will be really near the center of the transponder. You can roll up to them and find that sweet spot of around 5kc below them to set your receive center and you should be close to decoding then.

Hey Terry! It is an old Cannon EOS 1300D that I set on my tripod and point up. Its a great picture camera, but not a good video camera. It will only record 15 minutes at 1080p by default, so I just run it in 480p. With the FM satellites 15 minutes is plenty to get the pass, I should probably bump the resolution up for the FM passes. I do however have a new camera being delivered today, so that might free up some space for something else.
