We differ on the interpretation about some of the traits. If a player has low dribbling but is athletic, knocks ball past opponent can cover for his dribbling weakness as he can knock it past and outrun them in the chase, with great dribbling they don't need to knock it past, they cam beat the guy already. With Marks Tightly, I'd always looked at this as requiring good marking to use, otherwise getting tight to the opponent can backfire if they lose them, because they no longer have space to react and are left flat footed in their wake.
@Leyodemus3 жыл бұрын
Then we differ on that indeed David ...which is totally fine! 🙂
@Londronable3 жыл бұрын
The thing is of course that thinking logically sometimes doesn't apply to a video game. I don't know if dribbling helps with "knocking ball past opponent" but it wouldn't be surprising if it did have influence. Hell, balance and agility might also be involved for all we know. I don't know if I hate or love the lack of ability to look beneeth the hood so to speak, having played world of warcraft years ago we were able to look at every detail and make every calculation until we knew for example that you need 90 defense to be crit immume, you need 291 armor pen on a boss to cap it, etc. I kind of miss that. How many matches does a 18 year old need to play to have max growth? Is a sub appearance as effective as a start? Is a sub as effective as a start with game time requirements? Does it count minutes or does it count the moment they get a score? etc.

@@Londronable I devoted 2005 to last year to WoW. Completely get you. Not sure how to explain it, but I hope you get what I mean 🙂
@daviebananas17352 жыл бұрын
Good dribblers should not be trained to knock the ball past an opponent. If you suggest this for someone with big dribbling, your coach in the game will explicitly tell you that this trait does not suit players with such good dribbling skills. Knocking ball past opponent is for speed merchants who lack technical ability. Same with marking tightly, if you suggest this for someone who is not proficient at marking, the coach will tell you he is not suited for this as he is not good enough at marking.

Well i have never been a football player, but i was a part of professional basketball team and i can see some similar things in fm training. Main thing is, when you select a position/role and look at highlited attributes, they are not exact attributes that your player focus on. This screen just shows you what attribute player NEED to be at least somewhat succesfull at this role on the pitch. If you want a player to train these numbers you have to follow to a team training section of the game, READ description of each training and BUILD your team shedule grid, so during trainings each player will play as a chosen role. Keep in mind that if you want your flanking defender to switch role into attacking wing-back (for ex you are using 532 formation, and this guy have nice numbers as a defender, but need a bunch of attacking stats) you have to change a role in personal training AND also change training group for him, so he will be able to train his attributes in attacking group. Hope you understood what i wanted to say, sorry for my english i'm just learning it.
@Leyodemus2 жыл бұрын
Your English is just fine, no worries! I don't agree with what you say on the highlighted attributes though, but that's okay! Apart from that, team training is indeed also very important of course, that's why I always say that you have to look at "training" as a whole, instead of expecting miracle results from just one part of it 🙂Thanks!

Leyodemus, firstly thank you so much for this awesome tutorial video. I’m not sure if it’s a a question or explanation what i’m following to say but her it goes: So basically in my opinion positioning training either train your player for a new position and a new role or train your player for new role in same position. The most important thing about that, whatever focusing on your player (role or position) you should play him in that position or that role in the matches to see progress. Otherwise your coaches keep reporting you “If you are not planing to … play in that position or that role, our training focus will be not successful at all” so coaches suggests that “remove the instruction”. But here is the tricky part: I’m not sure if a player’s main position and main role already fits for your tactic, don’t know to train player same instructions to make him a better at his finest position and his role. So if u enlightening me about this that will be huge helpful. Thanks already.
@MK-px3re3 жыл бұрын
To my knowledge, the player position training only takes place if the player is weak in that department. If they are naturally a central defender and you keep their individual position training on that, it wont make a difference. However, if you change their position training to left/right back or anywhere else on the pitch, you will see their workload increase at the bottom. They will start new position training or you can improve on a position they are weaker at e.g moving a defensive midfielder into central midfield. Hope that helps.

I’ve played FM since the early 90s and for as long as I can remember in the modern games I’ve focussed on being through young players and getting the best wonderkids. However, I’m finding that in this years game I really struggle to develop players unless I loan them out to a top team to play every single game. Previously they would develop well at U18 level, then you could often get a year or 2 at U23 level with decent development, as long as they played in cup games/the odd league game. After that you had to either play them yourself or loan them out to get the best out of them. However this year, I just cannot get ANY wonderkids stats to increase, even over a few years, by anything more than 1 or 2 technical points, and not many more elsewhere. Some of these players are still 5 STAR rated, but in 2 seasons not one stat has increased by a full point and some have gone down a bit. This happened even with a player who was a model citizen. I also have 3 experienced model citizens/1 model professional mentoring a couple of these guys each. I am the biggest/richest/most renowned club in the world by a mile. I have won 5 CL and 9 EPL in a row, along with most cup competitions. I have the best coaches, facilities, youth facilities (I know they only work for academy players) physios etc EVERYTHING is number 1. The board even now have a demand that I maintain the best training and youth systems in the world, which I do. I do my own training which I have for years and in previous games I would see this lead to players gaining between 15-30 points across the board in ONE season. I’ve yet to see even my MOST improved player in a full five year development cycle including becoming a first team regular, improve by more than 10 overall. Most have only an increase of 1 or 2 in five years, some have zero increases and almost none of these improvements is EVER in the technical stats. The ONLY way I can get SOME young players to actually improve is to loan them to decent clubs as regular staters and then I have about a 1-in-10 chance of seeing moderate improvements. The majority will still stagnate or go backwards. Has anyone else had issues with this in the new game? Has something been fundamentally changed with playwr development?

One other thing on position/role/duty training is that it builds up tactical familiarity, so even if you're not going to change a player's position you might want to select the position, role and duty you'll be playing him in rather than leaving the default, so he gets accustomed to the tactic you're using.

LAst FM someone did a video, and in my experience it seems to work, that said if you leave Playing Position active, the player is trained in attributes for that position in general. So Strikers train in attributes covering all striker roles. It would also explain why the workload was None because it depends on schedules to train those attributes still.
@davidrichards6133 жыл бұрын
Tactical familiarity comes with schedules that target that, or playing in the tactic. In my experience I've seen nothing that suggests otherwise. Role suitability (star rating for a role) is determined by attributes for that role.

Positioning training DEFINITELY makes players more familiar to play a position. When you put a new position on a player for this, after a relatively short while you get a message saying that the player is now average/good/mastered the position in training, and that he should get more match time in the position to help him etc. Also, if you then change him back to another position, you get a new message suing that he is working on the new position and will gradually forget how to play in his previously trained new position.

Ahhh man, I am still figuring my mentoring. As for training, things make a bit more sense. My issues seem to bounce back to hidden factors, so back to mentoring for me. Also I never leave players in training in playing positions, always specify where and what role I want them to play. But it always makes sense to keep playing them in the specific role you train them in and if able to, add their traits to their role perhaps 🤔 Great video again 👍
@Leyodemus3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Lee, much appreciated! Yep, those hidden factors can literally make or break a player's potential growth... Yeah it makes sense, but if you want to train other attributes as well, to get a more "all-round" player for example, that's also an option of course. It's also part personal preference I guess, so no wrong answers here! 🙂
@davidrichards6133 жыл бұрын
I agree. I think if you have a very all round player come through, or you're trying to maintain a level on an older player, then Playing Position is probably better, but if that newgen has clear direction already, sometimes you need to go all in as early as possible. Back in FM20, Cadoni did some training schedules that had ridiculous growth and he advised leaving the Playing Position early on and switching to specific a bit later, I suspect this was to ensure that early physical growth was even. I'm in 2 minds over which school of thought I side with now.

As for criticism, first set yourself a standard (I'm a madman, so anything below 8 is unacceptable) and second criticize players who drop below their own standards (for example a player accustomed to 9+ rating dropping to 8.5 for one week or two in a row, no need to repeat that I am a madman)

@@Leyodemus Hi, you probably don't know the team, im training Botafogo from Brazil, atm all trainings is 4 stars and medium. The players are in general balanced personality, i only hire determined players to mentory the kids, the facilities are good, not the best or european stats, they are good tho... Kind stoped to play cuz to develop youngster is one of the most fun things to do in the game. if you know how to help me, i would be grateful asf

Their advice on ending training on certain is too early. They consider stats of 10-12 is "good enough to stop training", but it really isn't. This is the main reason I ignore them.

Hi Noah! The problem is that I don't like leaving out information that I think is useful, but feel free to use the chapters to skip certain parts! 👌
