Many years ago i was living in medellin for a few months. I had a football manager game going and decided to check the local team, Envigado. A 15 year old winger called James Rodriquez was in the squad, and his stats were amazing, signed him in every save. I thought he wasn't a real player .

Small tip that makes finding young players easier: filter your scouted players. I always set determination at 12. After a few years when I can choose to be very selective, I set determination and work rate at 12, and natural fitness, stamina, and teamwork at 10. It tends to filter out all the time wasters.

On one of my favorite runs : Joined VFB Stuttgart. I remember that after 2 ok seasons, 3 days before the transfer window closes, the forward I was counting on (N. Gonzalez or something similar) decided that he needed a new challenge. With 2 days remaining to find my n.9, I panic-bought an Italian striker from serie B, Cosimo Marco Da Graca. He was, stat-wise, average, for my humble team. And I was expecting him to score as much as Gonzalez (14-17 goals). Until, 2 months after he joined, I decided to make him acquire a new aptitude 'playing the offline'. And he became a fricking monster! The following season, we lost the Europa league final and the year after we won it AND the Bundesliga! Tl,dr: I panic-buy an average striker, make him learn how to fool defences and he made me win titles.

Partly inspired y finding your channel a while back I'm doing a Coventry City save -- great facilities, shouldn't be down in league one (plus Coventry is the home of Jaguar), and it's a save where for the first time I'm going all-in on youth. From day 1 in a save, I consciously only sign professional players. Resolute is also good because that checks for professionalism too. Any trait that has high professionalism. And I look for professional staff. After a few seasons when the club vibe is so professional, it can have a positive impact on a player. The database is so large, and there are so many newgens, that it's really possible (and good) to be very picky about what players you sign. "Fairly Determined" isn't good enough for Coventry. So far I've moulded one youth-intake player into a Model Citizen. He's no superstar, maybe a squad player at his peak, but he'll stay forever. Former model professionals who know the club and know the system are signed as coaching staff and sent on courses. Next transfer window we get a temperamental 18yo Scottish kid, Andrew Cummings, who isn't developing but has 5-star potential. 5'8" AM. First touch: 15. Technique: 15. Teamwork: 18. Natural fitness: 16. Acceleration: 15. So when you appraise the wonderkids, what's really important is the club they're joining. His pros include "works well in a team", and "fairly consistent", and he's extremely interested to come. His cons include "fairly volatile temperament" and not fitting into the highly professional squad. He might be a bad signing for many clubs if they can't turn his attitude around fast, but I think Coventry has reached a place where we can sign him and make him into Ronaldo. Hey, I don't sign players for innuendo. Never.
@BaiDobchan4 жыл бұрын
What Zealand said about low potential/fast development is very true. A good example is Kian Yari in a lower league team in England. I had him develop upwards to 47 points in just one year in the conference. That is crazy amounts of development for one who's already got okay skills for that level.

Man I just found your channel, I really like your style! The first video I watched from you was about the star ratings, I've been thinking the exact same about them but got confused after I saw a content creator almost completely ignoring them. I have played FM from the 2008 version I think and I hadn't been looking for any hints or KZbin videos of the game to learn about it. There are some things I should learn more about so I've been looking for that special someone (I'm a married guy, don't get too excited!!!) to watch and learn some of those little things from that I haven't really picked up yet. I disagree just a little bit on what you said about loans, I have some very good instant results of loaning players right away after their arrival but at the same time, I have seen that it can also hurt their development and also their settling to the team in the means of social groups for example. I'm losing my train of thought here a bit but my main point was that I really like your style, you seem like you are on the same wavelength regarding the game, also you seem to have a similar sense of humor and you just seem like a guy that I would get along with in real life as well. If I were to create some kind of FM content (maybe next year I will, who knows) I could see myself doing it somewhat similar to your style, at least more like you than the other content creators I've seen. I could talk more but I've rambled on enough, keep up the good work man, best greetings from Finland!

Appreciate you making this video! I suggested this a couple times so I was excited to see it pop up in my sub box. I asked because, despite playing FM/CM for over 15 years now, there's still so much I'm learning about the game. In my FM19 MK Dons save I prioritised signing the best u18 players from all over the world to become home grown at club. I've got an immense bunch of players in my youth team who have five star potential while I'm in the Championship and I've sold a few 'illusionists' for £10m+ to keep my bank balance high. I'd post screenshots but I'm lazy soooo. I have some who have bad personalities yet amazing stats/potentials and some who have great potential but aren't developing as I like. So it was good to get some insight into how others handle wonderkids. Personally I always say have a player stay with your club for at least a year when you sign them because you can mould them into whatever you want. I have great coaches and decent facilities as well as a thriving youth team with plenty of mentors around (although I'm still trying to figure out how to make them more impactful on a player's personality) so I feel confident that they can develop with a year in the youth team. By 18-19 I look to loan them out if they can't get into my first team but only if they're playing regularly at a high enough level. The amount they develop is a bit of a lottery - I've got one 5* 16 year old who looks incredible but hasn't developed at all in my youth team so I'm thinking to loan him out next season even though he'll still be fairly young. Equally I've had players who just don't stop showing green arrows and I feel like 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it'. So I keep them around and give them cup games etc. It's just about doing regular assessments and not wasting their crucial developmental years. And then cashing in on the ones who you know deep down won't make it. It's my favourite part of the game so thanks for making a good video on it!

Ooh the hidden surprises! Signed a regen striker for Levski Sofia in season 3, had a potential of 3/4 and a half stars (not that amazing for a player playing in the Bulgarian league). He was 4th/5th choice striker for me, but his attributes were improving like crazy every single month. Gave his debut in a cup game, scored a brace. Scored in his first game of the bench for a game in the 1st division. Gave him a couple more games of the bench and he always made an impact. After that, he earned some starts and was still performing very well. After half a season or so, he became my second best striker when it comes to the star rating. Decided to make him a regular starter for next season, scored something like 30 goals in 28 games. Two seasons later he was already world class!

Still holds true in FM21. I've had a player who was for want of a better way to say it a late bloomer. Came through the youth intake I think he was a 2 star current and 4 or 4.5 potential. He started out quite well in the 1st season developed ok. An injury at 18 meant he was out of action for 8 months, I almost cut him but when he turned 19 he was back, went on loan for 2 seasons at the same club who got promoted his 1st season. He was a squad player for me after that for 3 years, stats always rising. In the second to last 2 seasons of the save he was in the league team of the year and a regular in the national team. One of the most consistent players I've ever had on any FM. He was 24/25 when he became a regular player for me, I ended the save when he was 29. Had I carried on I think he would have been great for 6/7 years to come.

I had a star CAM playing as a shadow striker but had a younger CAM waiting to burst through, he never played well off the bench and in the cup starts. Eventually my right winger got injured and I introduced my CAM as an advanced playmaker on the right wing. I think it’s been 1.5 seasons now, he’s fully natural in the role and averages over one goal involvement per 90. Sometimes a position / role change can help a player kick on, especially if there are others blocking the path to the first team

I did a save in Croatia with Hajduk Split (this team used to be a top 2 team in the HNL alongside Dinamo Zagreb, but have fallen off hard and are maybe a 3rd-5th spot team right now). I got a regen, 6 foot 4 younster Petar Matijevic. Trained him from a right winger to a striker because I already had enough wingers. At 18 he was already a 4 star player on my team, was my 100% starter. At 19, he had 50 goals in 32 games and starred in a Champions League Round of 16 Squad. I desperately held on to him for one more year and he had a bit of an injury plagued season yet still managed to put up 30 goals in 17 games. At this point in time he was almost 21 and was my starting striker for the Croatian NT (that I was also managing) as a 3.5 star player and 5 star locked in potential. He demanded to leave so I shipped him off to Liverpool for 55 million :)). Now he's like 25, worth 110 mil and one of the best strikers in the world (35 goals in 28 games for Liverpool last season). Only downside is he is quite injury prone.

I think two things would help mentioning here which might get overlooked. Your league structure is important here, this has three parts too it. Firstly if you are playing a lot of games you can keep more youngsters at your club as there is a good chance that third choice left back might get some game time as you rotate /injuries etc, think Championship as compared to Eredivisie. Secondly if you have a B team instead of an u23 team. A B team can play at quite a high level allowing your players develop while keeping more control over their development, think Barcelona. Third part is work permits/registration some nationalities you will have to loan out so make sure it is to the right clubs, classic example is south american players that you buy for English teams, loan these out to Spain or Portugal so that they get the nationality in three years and make sure they have a good training set up and that they get game time, preferably at a good level. Second thing which might get overlooked is don't be afraid to play your youngsters, as mentioned past age 18 the main development comes from game time, 6.7 rating for 70 minutes minimum if that is still true, quite often in my experience your youngsters will play to their potential and not their ability. Also take into account point 1 with this. Say you are in the Eredivisie and you have a 3 star current ability backup and a 2 star current 4 star potential youngster who is 19 and you don't have a B team. Think about selling that backup and instead using that youngster. This has an added benefit that it can help with finances as youngsters are often on lower wages.

Juventus didn't renew him so he was a free signing(his value was around 450k). My scouts gave him a solid 2.5-3 stars and I needed a backup striker and wanted to try playing a Pressing Forward. I sent him to a specialist for the injury and he's scoring scoring often for whatever time he's getting and his value is to the north of 40mil now. Extra small tip. If a player has a very specific weakness you want to improve. Do not give them a specific role training or preferably also no PPM. Just have them doing the specific skill focus. That will put all training intensity into that and make it go up faster. They will still develop other skills for the position so don't worry about that, just less and less specific for the role you want them to do.

Would like to see something on facilities, especially for lower league managers, including some of the related board requests like increase junior coaching funding. e.g. increasing youth facilities without increasing junior coaching means what? I bought a teenage Romanian striker as a prospect. His first season in the U23 team he scored at a rate of over a goal per game. I moved him to the first team squad, but he didn't perform so I sent him back down to the U23s. There he stayed until he was too old, so I gave him another chance for the senior team. This time he played well, until he was our no. 1 striker his 2nd full season in the first team. A couple of years later he won the award for being the best player in the world. Sometimes you just have to be patient when players don't develop as quickly as you expected them to.

I had a nigerian RB who had 3 star potential, but I bought him anyway because he only cost me 250k. He became a god in a few seasons. After I finished with that save I checked and he had 186 PA. So scouts can mislead you in both ways. They really undervalued this player's potential
@Brightt244 жыл бұрын
Nándor Marsai how did you check the 186 PA? Thanks

@@WizoIstGott the real time editor is the one from fm scout web. In game works 100% better and i think in game is a good purchase. For example in real time editor if you want to move a player from another team the game will behave really weirdly. Even duplicate the player

My lesson from fm12 is always try a youth player before selling him. I had a 2 star-rated attacker who was utter garbage despite signing him 4 years earlier as a solid 4-star, but since he joined i just loaned him out for four years straight because all trainer reports stated he's shite. Then his contract was expiring next year and i just wanted to sell him, but wanted to see how he would do in a league match. And he did well, scored like 2 goals or so. So next league match he was starting again with a hope he will fail so i can get rid of this pitiful, one legged antitechnician. But instead, he scored again. And after few more tries to see him fail, he won over a place in my team. He was scored 35 goals in 35 league matches.

Developing wonder kids? Nah. Go to Argentina and just sign the kid under 21 with the most goals and the kid with the most assist. At the very least they’ll triple in value if not repeat the form they’ve just had

Never ever buy a wonderkid since cm 00/01. At FM 20, Played VNS in england, promoted, brought 16 years old german defender with 15% cut for next sale for £3k. He got "relaxed" character. I improved my staff and training fascilities, turned him into "wonder kid" with "honest" character. I don't buy "wonder kid", I Made them😎

So i have a Turkish Regen striker called Doğan Yılmaz who isnt a wonderkid by any means, i found him in my Under23's when i took over Burnley in my save, at 19, he was a Striker naturally and AMC, but he has 9 finishing, 8 heading, and 9 long shots. So i've been training him as a AP on Attack which is going extremely well with him Fairly Ambitious personality, stuck him in the First team and have used him as my sole CM for the last 10 games, he's already accomplished in CM from nothing 10 games ago and it works cos he's got 12 dribbling, 15 first touch, 18 passing and 15 technique, which is all i really need in the AP from his technicals. Don't disregard players who dont look like they have potential, this 2 star with only 3 star potential is better than my 4 stars in this role.

I'm playing in Denmark's second division (division 1), and I found a 15 year old striker with some really good mentals and some okayish technique but has low determination personality. My most influential players do not have that great personalities (fairly sporting the best) and are mostly defenders. How could I change his personality, the kid can certainly play in the division (not every game) and has crazy potential.

Maybe look for a striker with a good personality on a free who is looking to retire next year sometimes they sign for peanuts. In my save I was lacking team leaders and I found a Peruvian cb (41) who had over 150 caps for his country signed him on £220p/w for six months it helped me to stabilise the team. I’m guessing like me you have a limited scouting budget so i recommend checking South, Central and NorthAmerican national teams, also if you’re lucky you might be able to sign them as a youth coach or as some other sort of staff to increase your world knowledge
