Could you please do a video on how to use the development list? I tried to the whole wonderkid army thing but every loan offer I get through dev list, my loan manager rejects saying it doesn't match his valuation (there should really be a button to ask the loan manager to sort this out himself frankly). Would love if you could show us how to use this feature properly. Cheers.

I think the Youth Recruitment vs Reputation situation would be easier to explain if we consider Youth Recruitment as Youth Scouting, increasing the pool of newgens that can show up in your Academy, but Reputation increasing the chances of actually getting htem. Something that would be nice to explain is how the Youth Level system in England works.

I think the reputation of your HOYD and his knowledge of your club's country have some effect, too. I rember signing a HOYD with great attributes who had very little reputation and no knowledge of my club's nation and my youth intake was extremely bad for years (all players PA < 100). Even the club's original HOYD did a better job. In another save I hired a HOYD with great attributes, a high amount of reputation but didn't speak the language of my club's nation. Then my youth intake was slightly better than with the original HOYD in the first season and got better over time with my new HOYD learning the language an my club getting better. And yet another save I hired a HOYD from my club's nation with a high reputation and he die an amazing job from his first season on. And in this saves my club was always Werder Bremen. I think I did this in FM 19 or FM 20 and since than I'm always hiring the HOYD with the most reputation who is willing to come and most of the time I'll get an at least decent youth intake.

Very nice video! Affiliate clubs is one of my favourite ways to get good youngsters in FM throughout the years and I was positively surprised that it was mentioned! It for sure plays a role and I believe that the better facilities your affiliate club has, the better the chances of good youth players intakes. For example from personal experience in past FM I managed Everton and West Ham. In Everton I had Partizan as the affiliate club and I had one or two great Serbian players come through the youth(one was a future star for me at the right wing) while in West Ham I had the Serbian club Cukariski or something like that and I only had some mediocre players come through. Something that may or may not take affect as well is the youth coaches(U23, U18 e.t.c.) . I often "raid" the Ajax youth teams for youth coaches and after I do so usually see quite the improvement even when nothing else has changed. All of these are mostly "theories" though as I don't have code profs behind them. Luck will always be the biggest part in intakes and in my most recent save I learned it full well in Saint Etiene. First year I had such a good intake that two players became starters and one on the bench when I get promoted(Saint Ettiene starts in second division) vs an extremely bad youth intake two years afterwards after I had improved everything and even fulfilled the new owner's "best youth academies in France" ambition.

Hey Jake, great video, Also Zealand has said in previous videos that nation knowledge of the HOYD is important as well, which I think is true as my first 2 seasons at Atalanta I had an Italian HOYD. I then signed Steve Weaver who is one of the best HOYD in the game but I had 2 very bad intakes and this was after upgrading coaching/facilities and youth recruitment. He also has better personality and stats then the Italian guy but the intakes was worse. Also i had grown my reputation and was winning trophies consistently. Maybe the 3rd season of Steve would have been better as his nation knowledge had increased but was still not 100% I actually sacked him and reemployed the previous Italian HOYD :)

It would be nice to know the relative importance of each of these suggestions assuming they aren't equal. Also attribute weighting for example my Head of YD is a little less on attributes for the position but fitted to the main formation of the team. Making it tricky to decide. Thanks for the videos👍

I was playing with dortmund with all youth maxed out got 2 golden generations in 5 years 195 PA 198 PA + 3 players with 180 PA never got so lucky in 15years of FM

I understand Junior Coaching as increasing the CA of your Youth intake, while Youth Recruitment increases PA. So 20 Junior coaching likely increases the chance of getting a 15 year old already at 100+ CA, while 20 Youth Recruitment increases the chance of a 150+ PA 15 year old.

Yeah great video as usual . But what I don’t get as u do a pre look on jan or feb in England at Liverpool . And it states exnlent youth in take full 5 stars . When actually get them through on the date it was poor intake

In my Le Havre AC save I’ve struggled with Youth Intakes. Years later even though we’ve been doing well in Ligue 1, the club is still broke and declines damn near every request I make so I can’t improve facilities or anything. And every year I have to loan in players because the transfer budget and payroll is low. We just finally made UCL tho, so hopefully that will improve the financial situation.

9:45 Ah, even if I have 4-2-4 wide with CM's rather than DM's, it doesn't bother me as much, unless if my secondary formation in 4-3-3 narrow with 3 forwards crammed in.

I think he's using a skin. There are a lot of skins that provides much better page information than the vanilla.

That's interesting (and very logical!) that you say it has to be a specific youth recruitment reason for asking the board for an affiliate as I find the board tend to only want to say yes if its to boost their profile in another country or maybe to send out on loan. Do you think the youth intake reason only comes when you're so trusted you get to pick your own affiliate? Also, would it be possible to do a video on the actual effects of different board requests for youth intake please?

I usually request for negotiating youth recruitment with an affiliate around the end of a season, particularly after winning a trophy. The board is usually in a good mood and is willing to accept my request. Whenever I request that at any other time, the board usually rejects me even when I threaten them with resignation.

About the personality of your HOYD. It has an effect yes, but i don't think its that likely that you get a prospect with a same personality as your HOYD. For example i'm managing in serbia and my HOYD has model professional personality but still most of the players come out as "Balanced" or Unambitious and its been the case in four of the four intakes i've had. Its realistic to expect maybe one or two players to have that great personality and pray that's one of the better players in the youth intake.

I also feel that good potential defenders are hard to come by. It's always wingers and midfielders for me. Maybe my HOYD needs to be a defensive coach.

The affiliate thing is massive. In Milan saves I start with plenty of lower league affiliation, after one year the board remove all of them and the youth intake is 2 stars at best

What about your head of youth development knowledge of the area he working in? Eg a German hoyd working at Newcastle FC and has no knowledge of England because he never worked there before. My only tip is If your happy with what your hoyd is producing, keep him. Have spend big bucks on hoyd who deliver only crumbs

I read something on the forum about this. It's based on the logic that a robust squad with a nice depth is difficult will be difficult to breakthrough so some youngsters may consider this in their decision when choosing a club. I forgot whether it was proven through experimentation or merely observation.

One thing, or idea. Director Of Youth and Formations. You say he brings in guys that play Positions in his favored Formation. We can use this. 1. We can use that Formation. Duh. But that's not sexy or cool, and any idiot could figure that one out. We're edgy and cool, so we... 2. Think out of the Box in Concepts. For instance. You have Inverted Wingbacks as half of your 4 Man Back (Paired with some standard CD/DEF types). You got 2 Ball Playing Defenders for your DMs. So you're already sitting 6 in the Back half, and you got 4 of them pretty much anchored. So your IWBs aren't REALLY Defenders, I mean you do want them back there but once we get the ball THESE are your Pushers. They need to be able to move, to dribble, to pass. Sounds like some Attacking Midfielders, or Wings. So your Director doesn't bring you IWBs, but he can very well bring you Youth that play Ball Handling Roles, you can find the Best Defenders of those... ta-da, a steady stream of IWBs for your Back 4 that can facilitate some Push, that you can Train to be better Defenders. It's the ideas and concepts of Positions and Roles, and ESPECIALLY when Young we have time to make some fairly drastic changes pretty quickly.

I know it won't work for NZ even if I boosted everything about the country itself. I would have to make all NZ leagues playable. boost the entire 6-tiers and make them all at least semi pros with 100x the budget, then completely scrap salary cap for A-League and Wellington Phoenix.

Weird about marconi stallions being and affiliate. Marconi used to be one of the top tier clubs in australia before the NSL was dropped (to get rid of the "ethnic clubs") in favour of the a-league.

Its kinda of hard to determine to get wonderkids even with the guidelines shown. I have played Arsenal in FM22 for 20yrs but still cant get good youth intakes. My facilities is max out. I have good Head of Youth with good reputation as well. Sometimes it depends on luck. So far i only have like 3 or 4 wonderkids with 5star potential across my 20yrs played. The rest is only 3star or 4star potential..

I just buy most of my wonderkids. Last FM I played was 20. And the last team I managed was Basel, and my team was much more French or German than Swiss lmao. I think I only had like 2-3 Swiss guys, but almost all the ppl were formed at the club.

At fm22 with full upgraded facilities and number 1 european team winning the CL every year i only produced 4 wonderkids over 33 years of career. Every wonderkid spawned at city psg real man und or barca . So broken system.
