just a quick note - for those hearing a slight "glitch" or pop or scratch sound when he's changing Scenes/Tones, i have to assume he is connected to FM3-Edit, which is an editor for the computer via USB cable. It's not necessarily meant to be running during a "performance" or any time you want a pure sound when changing tones. the noises you hear are the communication and synchronizing of parameters between computer and FM3. the FM3 on its own will not make these sorts of noises as you wouldn't have FM3-Edit open during the gig. great video, but just wanted to mention this for those new to Fractal Audio gear.
@DroneCorpse4 жыл бұрын
Do the glitches take place when switching on the FM3-Edit? Sounds like a bug that needs to be fixed ASAP.
@r.llynch41244 жыл бұрын
Any delay in switching from preset to preset or scene ? My AX3 has no delay doing that.
@AxeFxTutorials4 жыл бұрын
Sid R. Sid R. As I mentioned, it’s an editor and not meant for live performance. It takes time to send communication over USB. It is not a bug but how it has always worked. Just pause Edit or disconnect at the gig. Like I said, you shouldn’t have an editor connected during a gig in most situations so this isn’t an issue when performing.

R.L Lynch FW 12.xx recently sped up preset and scene switching. Cliff mentioned it’s not on the FM3 yet, but is possibly going to be added. Regardless they’ll speed it up as much as possible.

Thank you for that informative and thoughtful video. I have been on the FM3 waitlist since last April and am likely to purchase one. I play many gigs in the US and love the idea of portability as well as quality. I'm a big fan of the Dumble amp models on the AX8 and I'm hoping I can recreate and/or surpass the sounds I've achieved with my current unit. I'm also hoping there is a headphone jack on the FM3. Anyway, thanks again for your efforts... they're appreciated from Maryland, US. Home of PRS Guitars!

Great demoing video,for which really appreciated. Two questions : As with Axe3, amp block is designed to incorporate four respective amp models respectively per channel? That is, channel 1=Fender, 2=Vox, 3=Soldano, 4=5150... Further, if three switches on FM3 be designed as such like you demonstrated,then it will work seamlessly in changing scenes in a real world gigs,you see?...thanks!

@gatgod774 жыл бұрын
Hi mate,Im in Melbourne,I didnt notice in the vid but I've been following on the Fractal forum, They said rather than delay the release more and scrap the stock they had the first batch would be without the Jack,theres plenty of people who don't need/want that feature but if they do they would have to wait till the next batch in April. Hoping we get some Aussie units in the April run

Thanks for the video Bernd - I’m a huge fan of Axe FX products and am in the market for one of your floorboards. Originally I had ruled the FM3 out because I was worried that three switches would not be enough but you have really turned my head on this. I would love to see some more videos on this subject of how I can get my three main gig sounds (clean, crunch and kick ass lead) with options for adding drive, chorus, delay & boost etc for each. I’m looking to do this with the minimum amount of tap dancing. Maybe boost could be kicked in via an expression pedal?

Hi, must say that I'm impressed with the quality of the FM3 at that cost and your presentation of the product. Have you ever thought of making a video combining a FM3 with an AXE III or an AXE II or all together :) like someone at the Fractal forum did for a year ago I think.

Thanks for that very insightful video ! You make it look so easy ;-) I'm preparing a duo with my wife and was supposed to buy two AX8 when in the process, it was canceled and replaced by the FM3. My workshop with the AX8 reveal that, yes it has amazing potential (especially with the 8 scene mode), but I find that the clean sounds are not very dynamic ! Volume vs attack variation is not very refined. My question is.. Is the FM3 dynamic better than the AX8 for the clean sounds.. (A la Dire Straits).. ?

@Lidocain7774 жыл бұрын
Great video ! Not really convinced that 3 switches can replace the 11 of the AX8 though. If, like me, you need an immediate access to 5 scenes + 1 FX toggle + 1 volume boost, well, I'm not sure those 3 switches will do the job. In a live context, it's not really convenient. Sure, there is external footswitches, but it's ... additional cost. Not a really viable option to anyone.
@G66eu4 жыл бұрын
Maybe. but if you add an FC6 you have a mucher better control than with the ax8. AND better sound.

I hope this isn’t a stupid question, but I presume you are recording what you are playing direct from the FM3, so what is the sound playing through for you to hear and monitor it? Is it something like a powered speaker or something else? As a sort of beginner this stuff is confusing me.

The Hold function,does it activate after a certain time frame or after holding it long enough,does it only become active after you release the switch? So for example you could hold a button for example 10 seconds plus but the effect will only activate after you remove your foot? I hope that makes sense lol cheers

I wondered the same thing, tried with other, utter and landed with "otther custom design" ;-) www.ottercustomdesign.com/ Thought about picking it up but if you place it next to FM3 you'll block the air vent hole... so... they should've designed it with that in mind.

3 footswiches are restrictive in live settings. What if I have 5 scenes in a song and want to go to scene 1 to scene 5? Show me that in an easy way without having to do a tap dancing or being a sucker and buying a $500 FC-6. Think I may keep my Ax8 despite the brilliant FM3 sounds.
