You should! It's one of the best things I've gotten into. Super interesting and pretty rewarding being able to fine tune everything.

Did you quit on this build? I am learning a lot from these videos. I think you do a decent job explaining what you're doing. Way better than other channels. Please keep it up!!! I am also turning an 88 NA to Turbo and these have been very helpful. I have an idea what I need to buy thanks to you.

Thanks man! Yes definitely, I tried to tuck the cold side up as high as possible. I think everything should be ok now, it was tight though.

Looking at a fmic for my fc, after 4 years have you had any issues with clearance, looks like you have ran your pipes in a way where you don’t have to cut big holes into the car, would be interested in the width of the intercooler if you have managed to keep running it

@supercarmio
@supercarmio 2 жыл бұрын
@@pilotohernandez1569 For sure! Sorry for the late reply. TBH I haven't messed too much with it, I am going with what Haltech recommends, 270deg during cruise with a linear progression to 330deg at redline. This will be hard to optimize without a dyno.

That is a good and obtainable power goal IMO. Should be able to hit that with a conservative amount of boost.

At what ignition timing should the car idle at?
@supercarmio
@supercarmio 2 жыл бұрын
It depends on your setup -- i.e do you have an idle air control valve, porting, etc. In general, 5-15 degrees btdc though. I'm using timing to help keep my idle rpm in check, which means I'm reserving some timing advance for when my rpm dips. Less advance = less torque = lower / more stable rpm for the most part. Typically you'll just try and find a point at which the car is happy. GL!
@Hygoog
@Hygoog 2 жыл бұрын
@@supercarmio ok. Mine is around 10-14 degrees. It’s a stock port. I have my bypass air control valve hooked up but it’s been really difficult to keep the car running with it activated.
@supercarmio
@supercarmio 2 жыл бұрын
@@Hygoog That sounds like a good amount. I would take the valve out of the equation for now and just get it idling without it. You might have to open up the throttle body a bit to get enough airflow. Once you have a stable idle you can add the valve back and use it to make more fine adjustments. Keep in mind if you are starting from cold you'll need additional cranking fuel AND post-start enrichment.
@Hygoog
@Hygoog 2 жыл бұрын
@@supercarmio yes I noticed that my cold start kinda sucks. This is a freshly rebuilt engine. It takes about two cranks with a little gas pedal for it to start however it has no problems starting once the car is fully warmed up.
@supercarmio
@supercarmio 2 жыл бұрын
@@Hygoog Sounds like you need some more air on startup and possibly post-start enrichment. Once you iron that out it should be easier to nail your idle speed.
