Kevin is spot on with his assessment of the FED and Powell's statements from the recent FED meeting.

Hes not giving transprency a bad name..he basically said if inflation continues down the same path there my be a few rate cuts in 2024..the market instantly prices in 6 rate cuts..hes was transparent, the markets either dont believe him or didnt listen..either way..the markets are the problem in this scenario, not the fed

@@bobbyward2440 Not really. The fed has been wrong more times than the market was. But you are ignorant of history so u need to be reminded of this.

He finally stated the reason for the recent long-term rate change. The Treasury has decided to sell bills instead of bonds in the debt market, which drives down the bond yield due to lower supply. Right now, the percentage of short-term borrowing in the overall government debt portfolio is higher than the recommended range. At some point, long bonds will need to be sold, which is when the market will crash.

Does that mean that the 10 year Treasury will go up over 5%?

I hear his concern but did not hear a prescription. It seems that he said "The sky might still be falling, but I'm not sure". What does he want from the Fed and Treasury? Can anyone elucidate?

Hotter economy? I just don't see it when I go out and work. Not in my state, region, zone, city, or whatever you want to call it. Hours are fewer, payouts decreasing. The higher rates were for an economy that was running hot under stimulus. That's gone while higher prices remain. The risk of straight out deflation is looming large for next year. With deflation, job losses and deep recession accompany it. Something that should naturally occur, but these aren't natural times.

Inflation brings down the debt. The massive spiraling debt is a big problem. They need the inflation. Why else would they do this. Krugmans a fool

"You give interest rate transparency a bad name." -Jon Bon Jovi He compared Wall Street money managers to teenage alcoholics looking to get drunk when the parents are away.🤣🤣🤣 In his mind, parents should give their children a heads up, so they can get bottles of tequilla ready. 🤣🤣

I agree. We won't see 2% inflation next year.

One would argue, falling inflation and real wages climbing should give people support as they long work. And sentiment should rise. Maybe it's the whole ME Gaza thing weighing on sentiment. But people are not/can't spending as much. Can't even get a $6 tip for delivering groceries around here.

This is a waste time conversation. The Fed is going to look at economic indicators and go from there. They haven't lowered rates. Nothing will change next 3 months but we will get more information and see where geo politics are at.
