FMS 1700mm Corsair Maiden Went REAL BAD

I will contact MRC and see if they will have FMS look at this video to see that this was apparently a defective motor mount that caused the motor to break loose and caused this plane to come down, I never could find the motor and prop assembly, I will expect either a replacement plane or my money back, I spent a week of my time making sure that everything was perfect on this plane, I always make sure everything is secured and the way it should be before making my maiden flight, and for a motor mount to break is unacceptable and no fault of mine.

I remember watching this video a few years back when I was considering buying this plane. After all the reviews, and this video I decided not to get it. There are way too many problems with this particular model from FMS. Motion RC is an awesome company, I have the Freewing 70mm F-16 v2, and it crashed on my first take off attempt due to faulty landing gear. They are looking at the faulty gear assembly and I hope for the same results you got from them. It really is disappointing to crash an expensive bird on the first maiden and not get to enjoy the plane.

Always go through an ark,kit,rtf and make sure everything is tight. thread lock all metal on metal and even ca screw that could come loose. I have this plane, when I got it I opened up everything I could and tightened everything down. I am glad I added lead because when the cowl was off I could see 2 of the motor mount screws were actually backed out. probably same with yours. Motionrc is the best there is online.

you can also check the center of gravity on the plane before you ever fly it. to say that you are not sure if it is nose heavy or not and fly it anyway is just askin to crash. :) basically if you hold the plane up with one finger on each side of the the fuselage under the wings in the center of the wings , if it balances there it is balanced if it tips forward it is nose heavy if it tips back it is tail heavy add or remove weight accordingly ! :-)

I recently purchased a FMS Corsair 1700 mm V2 PNP, after 3 flights I ran her straight into the ground, pilot error. I purchased a kit as a replacement to save a few bucks and swapped in all of my electronics. While building, I noticed the new kit came with a re-designed motor mount. Seems much stronger in my opinion.

Been reading that the motor mounts on these were junk to begin with.I am glad they made it right with you. Did you get to keep the crashed plane? I always recycle whatever I can.With a foam cutter and some patients you can make pretty much most of the parts yourself.

Thank you, at the time when MRC seen the video they had FMS watch it then FMS approved replacing it or refunding me, I hate to say this but MRC service isn't what it used to be like, it's hard just to get a reply from them, much less tech support.

Just a guess here but it looks to me like your rudder servo went hard over to the left. The plane started to do snap rolls and then spiraled to the left into the ground. On the ground after the crash the rudder still was hard over to the left.

That was after the motor mount broke and the motor and cowl flew off before it went down. Since then they corrected the motor mount issue.

Glad to hear motion solved issue. 8000mah is a rather large Lipo, I fly mine with with 5000mah 25c 6s n no weight needed.

Yeh there great guys, I plan on using the 8000mah, rather than the 5000 because it's why to tail heavy after flying it with a 5000mah.

I am building this same plane now and I watched the build tips I agree Motion RC IS THE BEST!! I am a loyal customer . I also notice the 10 ounces they added to the nose using the 4000 pack. I plan to use the 5000 6 cell I wonder why you went with a 8000 wow big battery

It took the 8000mah to get the cg correct, I never add lead, I add mAh.

It was a PNP, and after they saw the video they just said to keep it and gave me a full refund, sense then the problem has been corrected.

+william jason They really didn't have much of a choice after watching the maiden flight, they gave me a choice between a refund or a replacement, but I didn't feel good about getting another one before that issue was resolved so I took the refund, the manufacture refunded them so it was no loss for them.

Honestly it looks like your letting it stall and flop to the ground. Big warbirds like this and any other have to be flown with power to the ground. They can't be flown and landed like the park zone warbirds or even the smaller FMS 1400 size. I have the same plane and I have to fly and land it just like my bigger top flite 55cc warbirds.

Only thing I saw mid screen at 1:32 was a bug flying from right to left. I can see where you might think it was the motor, but when I did the ole "play-pause-play-pause", I saw a bug and it was too big to be the motor.

My freewing me-262 cratered on its maiden take off with an experienced pilot flying it. Maiden flights are always a trick. I have used motion RC and I agree there are good people to work with. If you want to see my accident just click on my icon. I posted some videos

sorry you broke it. but it sounded like you were just guessing at your cg and adding a big battery just to add it. did you balance the prop blades and hub seperately?? vibration from a prop that big will kill any motor mount. the small two blade props you can get away with not balancing but that HUGE 17" prop you really to need to be balanced. if you do the same things your going to rip up the new one too. just my noob two pennies.

Hi It wasn't to nose heavy, I like my planes a little nose heavy, and yes i aways balance my props, before this fly I did a run up to full throttle with no vibration at all, it had to have a bad motor mount the way the motor flew off in flight.

im building mine out atm. been reading as much as i can to avoid these type things. ive seen where folks have taken out the mount and made reinforcing backers of thin plywood gluing to the back of the mounts and screwing them in.

That's a good idea to reinforce the main motor mount to be on the cautious side.

The prop hub is garbage. I have seen 4 fms corsairs crash in the same way. The hub fails and entire front end brakes off.

Always check the CG at home and ensure that it is where they say it should be. Never go by what they say online because one foamy Corsair may not have the same CG as another identical foamy Corsair by the same manufacturer.

I bought a Tower Hobby FlyZone Corsair, Select Scale, I've never had successful flight with it yet. Total piece of crap. Landing gear is so weak it rips off on take off! Talked to them about a refund, showed them everything about it, and they said tuf shit buddy. Never buy from Tower Hobby...ever. IMHO

Tower hobbies is ok but flyzone is just one of the worst RC plane brands I have ever seen just poor quality contructin I had a extra 300 from them and I just could not believe the poor quality the thing had weak landing gear seems to be a common thing with flyzone the horizontal stabilizer is held in with stupidly weak magnets they call it a 3d plane cant even knife edge the magnetic wheel pants and landing gear covers are just gonna get destroyed once again due to weak magnets a whole lot more negatives then pluses the only thing good about it is the power system is pretty efficient. Anyway that is my rant against flyzone.

+yetterben There been getting a bad rep, apparently many others are having service and or product issues and there not doing anything about it, one good example is the FreeWing 80mm sabre, they have been knowing that the retracts on that awesome jet are way to light duty and nothing has been done to fix that issue, I even contacted them way back and asked them to have FreeWing put the Stinger 90 retracts on the Sabre but they replied back to me with a goofy response, so it's apparent they don't care about the quality of the product or the consumer.
