Thanks for this info! Yes a lot of videos with the Land Cruiser but none talks about the metal diff gears. That’s the important part to me. I’ll be changing out the electronics anyway. Only other issue is getting rid of the transmission noise I hear in all the videos.
@donaldsneffe

Most noise is from ESC, but you will never get those LC80s totally silent, the hardbody is a kind of amplifier ;-)

Could the "brass bushings" at 13:24 actually be bronze Oilite [old trade name] plain bearings? If so, they are made of powdered metallurgy bronze alloy and impregnated with oil [self lubricating]. Not a bad thing for a low speed crawler, but they are way more water resistant than the ubiquitous unsealed ball bearings in these crawlers. These are a step above the cheap, bottom barrel white nylon bearings [bushings?] seen in the rtr WPL and MN trucks....
@donaldsneffe
@donaldsneffe 3 жыл бұрын
Sorry, I do not know. I am not really good in this metal material things ;-) I know, those bushings are probably the way to go if you really want to drive in mud and water. However, I exchanged to ball bearings to get a drive train as smooth as possible. I do not run them in water and mud...

The universal joint steering is the purchasing point for me, because I want crawlers like these Land Cruisers to be as maneuverable as possible--thanks for addressing that difference. I didn't really see a steering test of the FMS model so does it have sharp steering angles to rival those of the C24KM and C34KM axles? Those have the most extreme angles [super sharp turns] I have ever seen.
@donaldsneffe
@donaldsneffe 3 жыл бұрын
No, it is ok, but not super good. Those will never be super crawlers, they are scale trail trucks.

Excellent comparison! Does the transmitter of the Patriot work with the Turbo Racing 4ch receiver and does It have the drag breaking function or you would need an external ESC for this? Thank you for your informative videos
@donaldsneffe
@donaldsneffe 3 жыл бұрын
No, it does not work with TurboRacing receivers. Patriot Radio is super cheap and simple, as in all EazyRC models - no drag brake function. Only the very new models (FMS Toyota FJ Cruiser, RocHobby Fire Horse, Chevy1/12 Jimny, Willy) do have this drag brake function by radio (all new electronics).

@@donaldsneffe Hello, Thank you. So there is no way to improve the low speed ability without changing the receiver with the corresponding transmitter then. Just starting into the hobby and the Patriot seems like the most cost efective platform including the body and details
@donaldsneffe
@donaldsneffe 3 жыл бұрын
@@manuelperarnau6833 Yes, in the EazyRC you will have to change electronics. You can use any radio/receiver combo you want, only need a rather small receiver. You can also use a Furitek (Lizard) ESC, which is plug and play (However, battery plugs are different to the plugs in the EazyRC). A big performance upgrade also with brushed motor. However, driving performance in the German ESCs in brushed is is better than in Furitek, but in the Furiteks you can change settings by app. You can buy quite nice radios with receiver for 20 - 30 bucks, was even less than 20 bucks in some, but actually prices have raised. Check for TurboRacing, HobbyPorter, DumboRC and more (sold under different brand names in local shops here for rather cheap, too - but guess you are not from my area ;-) ).

I got a fms lc 80 with a broken esc I am looking to putt furitek in. Do you know a good receiver that will bind with the stock radio? thanks
@donaldsneffe
@donaldsneffe 2 жыл бұрын
My FMS LC80 does have the "normal" TurboRacing radio which binds to the TurboRacing receivers. But someone here told me, that his FMS LC80 does have a different radio (the new one, that also comes with 1/12 Jimny? Or 1/12 Willys Jeep? There are two new radios). This will not bind, there is no receiver for those, you will have to buy/use a new radio. Simple: If you have a small radio where you can take off the handle (for putting batteries in), you do have the "right" one for the small Turboracing receiver, if not, you have to use a new radio. This is the receiver (I bought about 10 of those) for the "old" (handle off) radio, for my FMS LC80 and also for the Katana: www.banggood.com/Turo-Racing-R41-4CH-RC-Car-Receiver-For-91803G-VT-2_4GHz-3CH-Radio-Remote-Control-Transmitter-RC-Car-Boat-Vehicle-Model-p-1613291.html?warehouse=CN&ID=0&p=6S2910081756201209IA&custlinkid=1793938&cur_warehouse=CN

I have stripped a gear inside my main gear case of my Katana. Is there a new gear case for this little rig out there or am I just dead in the water? It is my only RC and do not have much experience to fall back on. I was able to get it apart enough to figure this out though, so I am pretty proud of that. I understand these are not the big crawlers out there so there may not be a fix. I just wanted to know if it could be fixed, or do I just need to chalk this up as experience and go ahead and pony up for another?

@@Treckopc Sogar ganz extrem viel Sinn.

I do not know what "Katana v2" is - is there any v2? I did buy several Katanas, all were the same. LC80 has Toyota logos, front turning lights on correct position, metal gears in axles, universal steering - my Katanas have more scale (Hobby Plus) axles, but dogbones, plastic gears. Electronics are the same. New FMS FJ Cruiser has different electronics, better ESC and better lightcontroller (but only super simple rear lights, elo not splash proof).
