Carried the real M249 with the para kit while I was in the 101st. Honestly the short barrel was nice, but the stock blew.

As a Marine that carried m249, I wish we had the s/short version, has to be lighter,. Carry weapon with box of freedom seeds, suck to lug around, I'm sure short version would definitely help in clearing rooms.

The SAW is like two different beasts. One I hated, one I loved. The long barrel with fixed stock was awkward. The short barrel with adjustable stock was the most fun weapon I ever shot and carried. Easier in and out of vehicles than an M4. I was running around with what felt like a sub machine gun except it's got a 100 round nutsack, with magnified optic, spitting out rifle rounds and reaching out to 500 meters easy. I still think they need to go the IAR route with box mags.

Its a great idea, but If you were firing Semi auto I would rather carry something like an ar15 with beta magazine if you wanted a high capacity of rounds. A semi auto m249 just doesn't make much sense.

Carlos Romero An echo trigger fires when pulled and released. So it's twice as fast as normal

MatteV2 Yea but technically it's still one pull, just fires when released as well Whenever they made the law that didn't get included. It's totally legal or the company couldn't produce it and sale it to the public

guns may only fire once per manual action, pulling and releasing the trigger are two different actions.

I really would have liked to see how this semi auto version of the 249 printed on the target. I would assume that since it fires from the closed bolt, unlike a standard issue SAW that it should be more accurate.

The problem with adding a binary or any kind of rate increasing device is the bolt is still a semi auto bolt, just like the AR you have to have the full auto bolt carrier group to run an echo or Franklin Armory trigger. FN designed this rifle to only use the semi auto bolt.

Nope open bolt is illegal even in semi auto. By nature of the design they are super easy to convert to full auto.

Well an Echo trigger would not work in this gun but it could be modified to fire on pull and release fairly easily.

So, why don't we have single/ full auto selector switch on US issued weapons? Seems a waste of ammo when in bipod config, and only a very few rounds actually hit target area(when shooting 300 + range). I spent much trigger time with full length M249 and M60E4 back in the 90's, Isreal (for example) has select fire on their mg's to sustain accurate fire at long range .
