Just bought one of these a couple weeks ago. As a 365 owner, I was a bit hesitant. However, I have the FN 510 that I absolutely love. So I bit the bullet and put in an order at my local bang bang dealer. I got back from a 5 day canoe trip to a voicemail that said it had arrived! Currently have 400 rounds through it, just like you, lube free. I have had one light primer strike. Other than that, flawless. I am so glad I decided to get one. The wife gets the 365! The reflex is my jam! And it fits in my 365 holster just fine!

I love my other FN pistols, including the 509CT and the 45T. I also never had a problem with the older FNX9. The only problem I ever had with any of them was with anemic ammo inc 45 ammo that led to some stove piping on the 45T -- switching to the other spring fixed that, though. I switched to better ammo, BTW. I may have to scratch the FN itch on the Reflex.... I hate money.

Just came back from running 100 more rounds on my reflex (total to 800 now). The gun is great - I've shot countless micro 9mm and this is just different. I feel this is as less snappy and the sights are more comfortable, compared to other Hellcat and Sig. But as I always tell people, no matter how much someone preaches about a gun, it has to fit you in the end.

Great run down on the new FN!! I’m a P365 diehard fan and would give it up for the FN when they introduced a model with a thumb safety. I’m not carrying a single action hammer fired gun, appendix without a thumb safety. Just my two cents.
@kgoldric
@kgoldric Жыл бұрын
I'm a big fan of thumb safeties. FN has a great amby safety on their FNX45 tactical. Flip it down and the gun + your grip is ready to shoot, flip it up it lets you reset the hammer to double action for some added resistance for the first shot. While that gun is a beast and is an outside the waistband kinda gun I think having that exact safety functionality would be perfect on this little guy. Not sure if the size would prevent all the internals required for an internal hammer DA/SA, safety + reset. Looking at the FNX tac internals, I think they should be able to pull it off in the reflex.

Absolutely concur with you brother. It's interesting how people fall into one of two camps... Those that like thumb safeties... And those that don't. Just like bolt action rifles that don't have a bolt lock... I just can't bring myself to carry a pistol that doesn't have a thumb safety.

@-_-_-_-318
@-_-_-_-318 Жыл бұрын
@michalis75 recoil is pretty soft compared to other micro 9's but that's mainly because the Mako is on the larger size, at 19oz and a little longer and wider, it's better compared against the P365XL or the Glock 26, than the regular P365 or Hellcat for instance.

What I don't get is why Walther hasn't made a microcompact format 9mm yet. If it was basically a slightly reconfigured PPS M2 with 10-12 round mags, that would be a pretty awesome gun. Just strange they haven't entered the fray when they had one of the best single stacks.

@Nitroaereus
@Nitroaereus Жыл бұрын
@@BunkerNinja I could see that, but how is the Hellcat, which is manufactured by HS Product in Croatia, in the US? Is some legal loophole where it's sold under the brand of a US based company and Walther can't pull that off under its own brand as a German based company? And is the Glock 43x just built in the US or do they just have the pull to get through import restrictions?
@Nitroaereus
@Nitroaereus Жыл бұрын
@@benjamin3290 I don't know if that's necessarily indicative of much. Microcompacts are very much CCW geared guns. They're not the best shooting or highest capacity. They're just the best shooting, highest capacity guns that are really easy to conceal carry. As far as I'm aware, there really isn't anything approaching even a fraction of the US concealed carry market in Europe. Who would be legally CC-ing in Germany? Plainclothes police officers, maybe a tiny fraction of civilians with dangerous jobs or political pull to get some sort of permit? There's just not much of a market to produce a new very CCW geared handgun if you can't import it to the US. If there is difficulty with importing small handguns to the US as suggested, and European plainclothes police are largely happy with their 6/7+1 PPSs, I could see that explaining why they haven't produced a Microcompact. The question that would be left open in that case though is how other European manufacturers like Glock, HS Product, FN (or heck, even Taurus in Brazil) have imported Microcompacts?

Reportedly, these are 19,000 backordered, found mine at G4G. Little different experience than yours as far as reliability. 115 gr Winclean turned it into a one or two shot, failing to go into battery too many times. Still qualified, and then ran about 100 more rds. Hollow point, ball and some Flat nose BEB. Only one additional failure to chamber and that was the BEB. Really liking this pistol. Disappointed that the front night sight isn’t one. Waiting on FN for instruction on remedying that. All said. I’m toting it now. Intrigued by the hammer fire.

Other than the Sig P365, it was the ONLY gun I can reach with my short, fat trigger finger. I just bought a FDE MRD today. My wife wants one now. She carries a glock 42 in .380 mainly because slide operation is easier for her. She was playing with the reflex after we got home and she just loved it. She can operate everything easier then the glock and she loves how it fits her hand , again more then the glock. I personally carry a fn 509c tach and a shadow systems cr920. I haven't really been super crazy about the cr920 but love love love my 509. Everything is leaps and bounds a head on the reflex vs cr920. Can't wait to shoot it and sell my cr920 to pay for my fn. Holster wise just going to have one made at my local gun club. As an FN fan who purchased this firearm and has carried this every day for a year, I unfortunately have to add some negative observations… 1.) the PVD finish is garbage. Despite weekly cleaning and oiling my slide has rusted. 2.) the trigger is smooth, but the length of pull and reset is way too long 3.) the shape of the magazines 👎🏻 The rear corners of both magazines are square and sharp and bite into you during appendix carry I hope FN sees this and makes improvements! As is, if I could go back in time, I would have bought a S&W Shield Plus. Better coating, trigger, magazine shape, price. Comes with 11 + 13 round mags but 15 rounders are available.

So no finger on trigger at ALL until you need to fire that shot. That's a good rule for any firearm but especially so with a trigger this light. Remember the Walther CCP I always liked how it felt in hand but like this Reflex that Walther CCP slide had to go all the way back or it would not reset the trigger and I mean all the way back so I never bought one. I really don't know but I can see myself impulse buying this one day if it's in front of me again.

Great review. Not too concerned with no safety on a 365XL, but with a SAO…. I just feel like I need one, especially if the trigger is really that light. I still really want to try this thing out. I have been wanting to try one every since I heard about it. Just seen one today at a store near me, feels great in my hands. Feel like I “need” it. 🤷‍♂️🤦‍♂️

just bought one optic ready, had a first edition 365(dont ever buy 1st edition of anything) but that being said this reflex has turned the sig into a paper weight. I went for a Staccato P so I think I can reconize a good trigger and for a carry gun and living in Chiraqu formerely Chicago it is a solid purchase. When looking for a new pistol if you can ask a 35yr. vetern of a police force for a recommendation.

I have almost every micro compact and the IWI Masada Slim is the best one. It's similar to the P365X but better. Lower recoil, higher capacity when comparing flush mags, better trigger, direct mount optic if you want one. 2,530 rounds thru it from 18 different types of ammo & brands and zero malfunctions.

When you consider the cost of ammo to vet a gun’s reliability, new magazines, and a new holster, it costs a lot more than most people think to switch carry guns. If you’re not going to stick with it for a while, just save for what you really want.

I liked the FN pistols pre-509 series. Even Owned the FNS9 compact back in the day- mostly because of the slide styling (appeared slimmer like a cz). Wish they'd bring it back since now all the pistols look nearly the same. The single action internal hammer is oh so tempting. I love my 365- and it shoots so well just not sure I need anything else.

FNS-9C was my first purchased pistol, and I loved it. Outshot a few local acquaintances that had suped up Glock's and M&P's. They stopped inviting me out after a few trips. Wish FN didn't drop the quality on the internals when they went to the 509. Strikers are much worse than the older ones. Also popping the pins out to do internal work is almost guaranteed to damage your frame. Had to wait 6 months for a replacement 509 frame after the local smiths followed FN's directions to remove the locking block pin. If you don't mess with them, FN guns are awesome. If you do, hope you never have to deal with their shit customer service. Civilians are the lowest priority for them.

It's interesting, but im probably going to wait for the HK simply for the paddle release. If Walther released a micro compact with a paddle i'd be all over it; as it stands i haven't touched a new Walther since they went full button release.
@riflemanm16a2
@riflemanm16a2 Жыл бұрын
Paddle release master race. Paddle release is better for ccw. It’s rare for the mag to eject during carry, but it has happened a couple times to me (edit: with regular button releases). Also heel releases on super small guns are better. It’s annoying to see everyone complain when a gun actually has a unique feature until the company stops making guns with that feature. I have a ton of P99 magazines, and one reason I haven’t bought new Walthers is that I don’t want to buy a bunch more of the same magazine with a slightly different mag release cut.

Waited a year and a half to get one of these as it checked every box I had, but wanted to wait for the bugs to get worked out. Right away I had multiple failure to feed so off it went to FN who replaced the front sight (tritium had died) as well the extractor. After getting it back I still had some FTF but it was less than before. Several hundred more rounds and the recoil spring somehow pushed through the metal retaining washer on the guide rod. Waited another two weeks for the guide rod. Still having the very well documented issue of low left accuracy. FN refuses to acknowledge there is an issue. Never had any issues with the CSX, Max 9, hellcat or the P365. FN dropped the ball on this big time. Let’s hope HK will send us the VP9CC soon.

3000 rounds on my 509c, not one failure. The only issue is the slide not locking back. I suspect reflex will be the same buy only if you have long thumbs and ride the slide, which is what causes it.

Personally I won't carry a gun with such a light trigger, without at least a trigger safety (preferring a thumb safety). I know I might be in the minority of current gun buyers, but I feel like FN should offer this with thumb safety option. There's a sizable market with people like myself which is why sig and s&w both offer that as an option on their micro 9s. I'm wondering if it is very challenging to build in a thumb safety with internal SAO. There is probably very limited space over there since the hammer eats up that same real estate.
@riflemanm16a2
@riflemanm16a2 Жыл бұрын
I feel the same way. I remember 10-15 years ago, every single small carry gun was DAO. Now, absolutely everything is SAO. The Shield EZ is single action internal hammer fired also, but it at least has a grip safety (albeit a poorly designed one).

I have been carrying a Gen 3 26 before Gen 4&5 existed. It has performed perfectly from day one. I have put my trust above all similar formats for gun info. I have handled all of the micro 9s available except the FN. Some feel great others not so much eg. Personal preference. You have stuck with the Sig 365 ? The point to my comment is not answerable but the question of reliability is hard to pin down given proper care would be the only variable. So reliability best guess from best to worse = ?
