FNaF 2 - In-Phase and Out-of-Phase Right Vent Camp Strategies (for Golden Freddy aka 10/20 Mode)

Basically, the 'why it works' and the 'how it works' and several scenarios and some gameplay as an example. Older versions had one more contingency on Toy Chica, but the latest version definitely just has a 5-seconds-til-gone criteria for three of the four side vent animatronics, so this works great on the latest version of FNaF 2! See the Tactical Crew below (I think Dawko called them the Tactic Gang) -- really nice work taking away the left side for like 90% of the night. I remember on Dungeon Defenders when strategies went from 'walls everywhere' to 'wait...we don't really need walls...we have auras and gas traps'. Sometimes strategies improve drastically with just a simple change -- this is one of those.
Updating the FNaF 2 strategy w/ the Right Vent Camp + adding a "Slightly Out-of-Phase" variation that I like since I can pull off my mask immediately with that variation for most of the night. Hopefully you enjoy the video! If you are playing an older version, I have another long strategy guide from years ago, but most people are going to be playing post-patch. Main keys are keeping Foxy's flash exposure up so he won't jump at an inopportune time, and avoiding giving him a chance to jump at the :10 multiples. Check to see that your nights are 7 minutes in length -- your computer also might have a processing multiplier that doesn't seem to be standard across machines for ClickTeam.

Shadow Freddy can only appear in Parts and Services when Freddy, Bonnie, Chica and Foxy all aren’t in there. I feel like he has a 1 in 25 chance of appearing every cam flip (he seems to be rather common). Because the Show Stage and Parts and Service cameras are permanently disabled in custom night, Shadow Freddy can’t appear in custom night (or maybe he can, but he’s just not visible because of the perma-static)

There was a very funny situation in 10/20 mode a few years ago where BB was in my room, Mangle was in my room, it was 2 am, and by simply have desk animatronics pull down my mask I just kept surviving until about 4. I had a group of people with me who knew less about the game, and it surprised all of us when I somehow continued to survive despite everything.

I would say that 50/20 has a steeper skill curve than 10/20 but once you're there you can get wins MUCH more reliably on 50/20 than 10/20

Tip: When you see toy bonnie in the vent wind the music box for 1~2 ticks and then swap for the mask. This will hopefully get a desk animatronic in your office causing toy bonnie to leave. Note: this does not work every time :)

Specifically, when Toy Bonnie arrives in the vent in your office, he can't kill you for 5 seconds. If you're certain you just caught Toy Bonnie as he arrived, then you have a few seconds to sneak some music box action in. But if Toy Bonnie has been in there for a couple seconds already and you go for the music box you're probably dead.

@@TheVladacar works sometimes, but you run the risk of a foxy attack especially if you end up having to wait for a left vent animatronic to leave. I've found a mix of 6 to 7 tics depending on your music box level to be the best approach -- more 7 tick winds if you're recovering from a toy bonnie stall, but stick with 6 if you're able to keep the box full for the moment. I think this keeps you in a better rhythm for most of the night -- granted, I've only been able to get about 30 seconds from a win, so I could be wrong here XD

I found a new bug that is associated with the flip glitch, if you see Toy Bonnie on the right vent, and flip the monitor up and down as fast as you can like you barely see the music box when you flip the monitor up, then put Freddy mask on and any Desk animatronic (for me it was Withered Chica), even if you did fool a Desk animatronic, Toy Bonnie will jumpscare you when it's over.

It is not unfortunately. This is when Foxy is most dangerous, as he can sometimes pull a 3 second timer and kill you before the vent animatronic leaves

Usually not a problem unless it's Toy Bonnie and he decides to stall for way too long. Then in that case, you'd have to flip off the mask, flash some light, flip back on and hope that Toy Bonnie has a change of heart, lol. Frustrating that there's no cap on TB.

I've been testing a possible newish strategy where instead of trying to keep the in and out of cycles just right to match up with foxy's 10 second check instead you use a live split timer, or even just any timer but livesplit being the easiest, to know precisely when foxy's check is. Then you can much more precisely wind up the box and know if everything will will sync up just right with foxy's check, so either you know you have enough time to flash him, or you know for sure if a desk animatronic is going to take you past that check. I'm not good at explaining this stuff so I hope you can see what i'm trying to say. This strategy though would probably be even more beginner friendly.

question concerning foxy + flashlight mechanic!!!! im going to try to explain this in the clearest way possible since i worry it could get messy so when foxy is in the hall, you can see that hes in the hall. you can see him WITH mangle and withered bonnie, or alone. but for example when toy chica, withered freddy, or toy freddy are in the hall, you Cant see foxy there - even if you havent flashed enough to send him back to parts and service my question is, does the presence of these animatronics override his? if im flashing the hallway when the screen shows them but not foxy even though he Should technically be there, does it still count towards his flashlight timer? what about when hes in the hallway but theres other movement and the flashlight is off to the side, does that count towards it too? im trying to beat 10/20 mode for the first time and i really want to understand how this works since the images of the animatronics in the hallway are just. images and dont necessarily have an impact on their ai, or so i think. if i was able to explain my question/s in a non confusing way and somebody has an answer for me id be super grateful!!!!

If you get down to the last 10 seconds or so and you still have a little bit left on the Music Box, it's sometimes better just to sit in the office and flash the hallway. Odds are, though, if you're within 6 seconds of a win, another run should work out just fine.

Sometimes foxy gets me right after a desk attack 2-3 seconds after his check is supposed to happen, and I'm pretty sure my timer is right. He can only get you exactly every 10 seconds right? Edit: I tried only letting desk animatronics pull down my monitor and foxy attacked me right after a pull down! So if foxy gets mad enough he will attack anyway

So Foxy only attacks every ten seconds? And if someone is at your desk he cant’t jumpscare you if it’s at ten seconds? Or does he just jump after the mask goes up? I get really paranoid and scared with Withered Foxy, so I like to just make sure because he’s the main reason I put off playing 10/20, because he actually makes me jump when he jump-scares me, unlike the rest. May relate to the latency between pulling the mask off and events processing vs. the extra delay that disallows the flashlight that could cause the jumpscare at just the wrong split-second.

I'd just hold flash down while going across the hallway with the mouse. On Golden Freddy mode, animatronic attacks are going to take up maybe around 35-40% of the night, so holding down the flashlight while just doing your regular motions shouldn't be too big a problem. I wouldn't spend more than maybe 1-1.5 seconds at any point (even with an empty hallway) in this mode, though. Music Box is a big deal.

On Golden Freddy mode, yeah, charge up the light so there's a better chance of W. Foxy going back to P&S. If you're trying to conserve battery, no.

I would not recommend holding down the flashlight as soon as you lower your monitor; Golden Freddy himself is not visible while any of the desk animatronics are in the office and if you use your flashlight then, it can easily be a game over. It's especially dangerous if you are trying to stop the Puppet from progressing and you hit the 10 second check (which may lower your monitor with force)

Trying to beat 10/20 rn, withered bonnie keeps jumpscaring me without flipping my camera off. I spend a weirdly amount of time on camera (wondering why no animatrics already put it down) and when I put it down I instantly get jumpscared by him, no desk animation no flickering lights, straight jumpscare. Is it a bug?

You definitely don't want to be in the cameras for more than 5 seconds (or even slightly less). Always worth a check to see if the coast is clear since sometimes the animatronics won't force the monitor down.

I keep Springtrap in CAM 6

Keep him around Cam 6 Always close the nearest vent to Springtrap and have your vent camera on the second nearest vent Check Cams 9 and 10 from time to time because Springtrap can be sneaky Don't check Cams 4 and 7 and definitely don't check Cam 8 to avoid encountering Phantom Mangle, Phantom Chica and Phantom Puppet respectively If you hear slight ambience noise, either Springtrap is on Cam 5 or a phantom is on your office or both If you hear loud ambience noise, Springtrap is very close to Cam 2 Reset the audio every time you use it once (whenever you can) so that you always have 2 audio lures avaible for emergencies If you have an audio error and other error at the same time, prioritize audio and keep track of the audio cues However, keep in mind that if you have a ventilation error, you might see more than one Springtrap on the cameras at the same time (there can be a fake one) If you have 2 errors, I think Reset all is still better than fixing each one individually. Use Reset all whenever you have time to spare If you see Springtrap looking at you and you're fast enough, you can lure him to Cam 2 (You gotta move quickly) You can actually avoid Phantom Foxy's jumpscare if you see him standing there and react fast enough, turn around, go to camera and go back And probably a few more tips that I'm missing

No, DJ mentions that all character (except Foxy and Golden Freddy) are capped at 15. Foxy is capped at 17 Golden Freddy is capped at 10
