Michael deserved the fnaf 6 speech, and if Henry and Charlie were removed and the crying child was the puppet, that would have been the entire afton family burning, and Michael could have apologized to his brother one last time. The scared and bullied kid was the one who protected and wanted to free the souls of the mci.

I find this really interesting because I always viewed Michael to be special; different from the others. I mean baby tells him he "can't die yet" so the animatronics must know he's different from other people, including his own father. Yeah the funtimes mistook him for William, but at the same time, they knew he wasn't their killer, as I mentioned with baby's voice lines. It wouldn't be too far off the line for Scott to make Michael the "chosen one" as in the Bible, the name Michael is associated with the archangel of the same name, who's main job is to battle evil and is a spiritual being. Michael the archangel is a "champion of justice" who can heal the sick and has been shown to vanquish Satan as a dragon, which can tie into Michael fighting his dad and burning him alive as a symbolism for hell and the devil. Another interesting parallel is how Michael the archangel is the ONLY archangel to have directly fought Satan, very interesting coincidence, as only Michael could defeat his father, the embodiment of evil in FNAF. The name Michael means "who is like God", so I absolutely believe Scott intended all of these religious parallels. If you REALLY wanna dig deeper, archangels are meant to be messengers of God, meaning Michael could have been chosen for a spiritual purpose involving the dead kids, along with his siblings. He was tasked to put his sister Elizabeth "back together" which can definitely tie into the fact that Michael was chosen to be the one to set the kids free, along with himself for the trauma he went through. Putting Michael's character from FNAF into a religious perspective can really help solidify the idea that he's special and was chosen to be the one to make things whole again. It's fitting: his father caused everything, so why not have his oldest son put the pieces back together and have everyone rest in peace? That's a huge reason why I love FNAF lore, it makes sense when you put the main ideas together; it's all very fitting and makes the story memorable. Michael isn't the only religious name Scott uses either, as he uses Elizabeth (who was the mother of John the baptist in the bible), Gabriel, the kid who possesses Freddy and is another archangel and Jeremy, which can be argued is the shortened name for Jeremiah (depends though). So there's some elements here and there based on religion, but overall I 100% agree that Michael Afton ain't like the other bois. I believe in a spiritual sense, he was connected to the children because of how he accidentally killed his brother and wanted to atone for it, along with his father being the sole reason the kids died in the first place. Dude didn't have a choice lmfao One last detail I find really compelling: Michael the archangel is also known to be a leader, which makes sense given how Michael is the main protagonist and leads the souls to rest. Michael Afton is the GOAT I love him so much. I really think the crying child being named Dave (shortened name of David) fits this idea AMAZINGLY. It makes a ton of sense for Scott to name the main Afton kids after biblical figures, at it fits the theme. It also makes the role David has as the crying child more meaningful, since it's what caused Michael to have his "enlightenment" as one could say. It all ties together really nicely and I hope we get some confirmation about c.c's name from Scott sometime.

That’s a fascinating read. I definitely agree that Scott was inspired by his religious beliefs when writing a lot of the FNAF lore, including Michael. A lot of theorists haven’t really looked at FNAF this way but ever since the Dave Afton thing, calling back to David and Goliath, I think people are finally starting to view the series through this lens. When we get a character named Lucy we can probably connect her to Lucifer.

@@lordmarmalade YES EXACTLY!!! I really think looking at the lore through different perspectives can help us figure out the missing pieces and put them back together (haha good way to put in that pun)

Pretty sure the "You won't die" thing is because remnant canonically can bring the dead back as shown in Frailty.

This makes a lot of sense of Michael being sort of “immune” in a way to the animatronics mentally except for golden freddy (who is thought to be his brother)
