FNAF THEORY: Solving JJ (And How She Proves That The Toy Animatronics Are Possessed)

(Edit: I no longer believe this theory, since I look at SAVETHEM a lot differently nowadays. Still a fun idea.)
I've been a fan of the Five Nights at Freddy's series for a very long time now. Seems like I can't go for a long while without being pulled back into the loop. This time, I put together a theory about JJ from FNAF 2 of all things. I think I might be onto something here.

About the arms thing; Removing the arms likely would have been easier than recoloring them. Would be as simple as just selecting the arms in the model editor and deleting them from the model. They really aren't supposed to be seen in-game anyways, so why go out of your way to recolor them when you can simply get rid of them in a click of a button? But, I do like your more Watsonian way of looking at it. Would make a lot of sense in-universe. Well, as much sense as FNaF can possibly make nowadays.

ive always wondered since the toys are possessed why do we never see their souls being put to rest as we do with the other children who were killed. its basically never expanded upon unlike the others where we see so much about them and even their names and gravestones. its almost like these other children dont exist in the lore from how little is said about them

It's completely possible that the original JJ modle was a recoler of an incomplete BB modle, maybe to test other colours or something, and Scott just reused that modle for UCN. An additional thing is that the evidence you used in the video feels like back up evidence rather than the big piece of evidence you presented it as. Overall its not a bad theory, but as you stated in the video, it does feel more like fanfiction.

Very fair. JJ being a test model reused as an easter egg doesn't seem out of the realm of possibility, though it would be kind of weird for him to change some of the colors between FNAF 2 and UCN but maybe that's just me. I feel like my evidence works in the context that this is a theory about one of the most unimportant characters in the series. I feel like her irrelevance kind of limits the evidence about what she is, cuz if it there was something big, then there would be a lot more discussion about JJ. I feel like I made a lot of assumptions in my theory, but I think the core of the theory as the second MCI having 6 victims and that being reflected in the animatronics still stands. Regardless, you make good points and I definitely understand where you're coming from.

While completely unrelated to FNaF, seeing armless JJ reminded me of a Warhammer 40k meme/joke: Failbaddon The 'armless. Important bits to understand the joke: Abaddon the Despoiler in the story talks a big game but fails at everything he does. 13 attempts to end the Imperium. 13 times being sent home [until the great retcon] Abaddon's original model was made of metal and had heavy arms. so heavy in fact that if you weren't really careful [or didn't take extra steps when assembling him], his arms would fall off, leaving empty shoulder sockets. 40k is British in origin and many British accents do not pronounce "H" when it is at the start of a word, especially single syllable words.

Okay, so the arms missing may just be Scott prematurely optimizing the game for memory. I am pretty sure the arm being there would be less colors to load into memory. I remember him saying when being interviewed that he did techniques and to make UCN more performant like downsizing the jumpscares and then resizing them. Why didn't he do this for BB? Well perhaps because he may have intended for BB's arm to be semi-visible, I think you even said BB's arm is partially visible.

I guess? Does it really work like that? I know he cut down the jumpscare quality, but even if JJ had arms, it'd be essentially the same size as the image used in the actual game. I'm not super knowledgeable in the stuff Scott used to make the games, but it doesn't seem to me that the arms were removed for that reason. Balloon Boy's arm is visible but it's just a little bit of his hand. You have to be looking all the way to the right and focusing hard to actually notice it. If it was a memory thing, Scott could've taken that arm away as well, since it's extremely difficult to see in the actual game.

Yes, I'm very knowledgable about these kinds of useless technical stuff. Am a developer myself for nearly 10+ years. JJ wouldn't save much on memory, no. But if Scott did microoptimize as his strategy then collectively overtime it really adds up and would save on resources. Clickteam isn't the best engine and has its limitations. Scott had to work past those limitations to make UCN, and one way he did that was optimizing it a ton.

I think that the blood stain under the table was more meant to show that save them takes place before fnaf 2 gameplay as in the gameplay we can only see 1 table in the party room. Also I heard an interesting theory that explains not only JJ but also Shadow Freddy, RXQ, paper plate boy and the endo skeleton that all may appear during the gameplay. The theory states that the easter egg characters are possesed by the Go! Go! Go! kids. If you think about it there is no real need to show the mci in the minigames of fnaf 2 next to pirate cove even tho they died in a completely different room. So what if this isn't the mci? The theory states that Shadow Freddy and rxq are just a part of that set of victims. Some people think that Shadow Freddy and RXQ are connected but that doesn't need to be the case because they don't really look like the same kind of animatronics. Sure they both have glowing teeth and eyes but one is completely pitch black and the other is purple. But it works if they are a part of the Go go go victims because JJ is also a recolor of an already existing animatronic just like the shadows and endo 02 is also based on an already existing model (he is Foxy's endo but with blue eyes). The only exception is the paper plate boy but I would explain him as being the special one in the group. What do I mean by this? The mci and dci also have a special character in their groups, mci has Golden Freddy who is the only recolor in the group and the toys have Balloon Boy who's the only one to not be based on an already existing animatronic unlike the rest. The theory also states that the dci and go go go kids get freed in the happiest day minigame because in the minigame there are 3 rooms. The first 2 rooms have 5 baloons and the last has 6 representing the mci and Charlie. After the souls disappear then the baloons go away. That means the balloons represent the dead kids. It's interesting that both of the previous rooms have exactly 5 balloons. Just like 5 go go go kids and 5 kids from save them.

By that logic, a lot of the fundamental lore of this franchise is just kind of lost. Mangle is NOT possessed by Susie's dog. Mangle was made for the 1987 location and it does not make sense for it to be possessed by a dead dog from 1985. Not to mention that the evidence for that theory comes from the SAVETHEM minigame from FNAF 2. What happened to not referencing any game before FNAF 3? I also kind of fail to see how what we know about remnant contradicts this, so please do explain.

Mangle being Chica's dog is an extremely flawed theory so I'm not taking it into account. It makes no sense for a dog that died in 1985 to possess an animatronic created in 1987. It's the five FNAF 2 kids you can see in the minigame and a secret sixth kid under the table for JJ.

The real twist to JJ is that she is a 6th new haunted animatronic, when we only see 5 bodies and 5 spirits. Thats because the 5 new spirits inhabit toy freddy, chica, bonnie, bb, and jj. What about Mangle? Its backstory, being around since pre-1983, means its NOT a new soul like the other 5 toy animatronics. The toys are brand new, so could only be possessed by the mci2 kids. Mangle being around since pre-1983 means it was more likely possessed in mci1. And since only 4 kids went missing in mci1, I'm led to believe Mangle is Susie's dog afterall. Whether I like a theory has no bearing on its canonicity. This is the only way Mangle/JJ make any sense.

If you're talking about the toy in the girl's room in the FNAF 4 minigame house, that's a toy, there is no way the owner of the room would just have Mangle lying around the house. If it's about Funtime Foxy from Sister Location, those are straight up not the same animatronic. And since when did only 4 children go missing in the MCI? It was never really stated that it was only 4 and everything points to Golden Freddy being possessed by an MCI kid. Mangle being possessed by Susie's dog is an extremely flawed theory that I cannot get behind.

Even if you subscribe to the theory that the Toy Animatronics were based off of the merch toys which came first, the backstory of Mangle means it had to be an animatronic before it could be a toy. It only got the name Mangle from the animatronic Funtime Foxy being taken apart over and over and the staff getting tired of putting it back together. So that's where Mangle got its name, and where Fazbear Ent got the idea for the character Mangle. Then they made the toy, which we see in the little girl's room in 1983.

Supposedly we see a 5th body for 1 frame before the G Fred jumpscare, which the puppet never gives a present or a mascot head to, which to me further emphasizes that he is separate from the other four, but that he was already there when they were killed. I don't think scott would show us the same kid being killed in save him and the puppet minigame. The puppet minigame shows charlottes death and save him shows Cassidy's.

There is no canon backstory as to how Fazbear Entertainment came up with Funtime Foxy as a character, and the explanation given by Phone Guy in FNAF 2 would imply it was in the location the game takes place in and not in like 1983. And acting like Save Him represents anything other than Charlie's death is an outrageously bold claim. You mean to tell me that these two different characters both were locked outside the location until William Afton pulled over in his car and killed them, on two completely seperate occasions, but with the exact same details. Not only that, but Save Him ends with a Puppet jumpscare, that minigame is connected to The Puppet. And that's ignoring the fact that when Henry talks to his daughter, who is The Puppet inside Lefty, when he talks about when she was "shut out and left to die", it LITERALLY shows a picture of Save Him. This CONFIRMS Save Him represents Charlie's death. Scott's retconned multiple things over the franchise's history, and Charlie's gender is one of them. You cannot make a case for Save Him being anything other than Charlie's death.

But like I said, either Mangle is a plot hole or a huge clue as to the sequence of events. Id be fine with saying its appearance i 4 is just a plot hole. Somethi g that would would need to be cbanged for canonicity. But if we're saying it IS canon, that means a whole lot. Given the origin provided in 2 and the appearance (even in toy form) in 1983, means the toy's namesake- the actual animatronic Mangle- existed in 1983. There are 5 dead kids in MC2. No one is debating that one. But we see 6 new animatronics following MCI2. Toy Fred, Bon, Chic, BB, JJ, and Mangle. So someone was inhabited before MCI2, and the only one who existed pre-MCI2 was Mangle, as evidenced by the toy in the girls room in 1983. So all the MCI2 souls are accounted for, but Mangle had to be possessed before the 87 location opened. But the MCI1 kids are all acounted for too. So Mangle is either possessed by some soul not murdered in either MCI, which would be fine I guess. Just some other nameless kid. OR, I'm just sayin', it COULD be Susie's doge. The timing fits. I've never been a fan of the Mangle is an actual doge theory, but it does seem to work.

The entire point of the video is to make a connection between a group of victims and the Toy animatronics. The point of the video is in the title, and you are choosing to ignore that, along with how you must be ignoring how these "soulless" animatronics crawl into vents, remove parts of their body and crawl up walls and ceilings. A mere security measure is not gonna make high-tech Chuck E Cheese rejects do that, buddy. The Puppet was around LONG before the Toys. For the Puppet to give life to the Missing Children Incident victims, the Puppet would have to exist and be possessed at LEAST before said incident, which is estimated to take place in 1985, and most definitely does not take place in 1987, the year the Toys are introduced. The Puppet's only a Toy animatronic in the sense it was being used in the 1987 location with the Toy animatronics. Both in the lore and in their internal mechanisms (and design even), they are very VERY different and unrelated.

No, because this is the second missing children's incident, in 1987. Golden Freddy has been theorized to be possessed by two spirits, and those would be the Bite Victim from 1983 and Cassidy from the original Missing Children's Incident from some time before 1987 (heavily implied to be 1985). Golden Freddy can't be the 6th child of the second incident because the options that could have possessed him died before this.

@@veronicamoment Hmm... I always assumed there was only 6 children Afton killed. But maybe there's more? I'm pretty sure the animatronics are programmed to detect a predator which is why they were acting weird. It seemed someone tampered with their detection software which caused them to be aggressive towards ALL adults. I wasn't too keen that he killed more then five because otherwise it would be mentioned. Then again, happiest day includes mangle, bb, toy chica, and we know puppet is possessed. But toy freddy and bonnie are never seen to have signifigance

@@TrifectShow From what I know, and it's what the theory uses as a base, there are essentially 3 big Afton killing moments: Charlie's death, the Missing Children Incident and the Second Missing/Dead Children Incident. Charlie's murder is believed to have ocurred in 1983, or at least some time before the Missing Children Incident, which in itself has to take some time before 1987, as the animatronics from an older location appear there. We know that Charlie has to die before the MCI because she's the one to give them life as The Puppet. The event depicted in SAVETHEM is a different thing from the MCI, as it shows that the Withered animatronics are in their state from the actual game's events. This places the minigame in 1987, either before or during the events of FNAF2. Because the animatronics from the old location are in the 1987 location and the Toy animatronics have already been implemented, we know this can't be the Missing Children's Incident, as that happened before all this. One could even say that the whole point of the Toys was to prevent things like the MCI from happening again (facial recognition and stuff). Due to all the information and clues pointing towards SAVETHEM not depicting the MCI, we can conclude that the dead children in this minigame aren't any of William Afton's previous victims. This is the information that is necessary to really understand this theory, as it focuses heavily on this Second Missing Children incident.

Yeah, that definitely just feels like some fanfiction. I still don't feel like the Toys were ever possessed. I can't tell I know the exact rules of the universe with the remnant and stuff, but the theory never worked out for me. Puppet is already possessed by Charlie, Mangle could possibly have a soul inside of her already, and we don't even have concrete evidence on whether JJ is real or not. So there's literally not enough 'space' for the kids at FNAF 2's restaurant. JJ is overall an overlooked character in the franchise. Scott probably didn't even have the model properly saved for all the major differences JJ has received between 2 and UCN (she used to have pink cheeks in FNAF 2 but in UCN it's blue for whatever reason). So Scott himself probably didn't even give any attention to her, so don't look too deep into it her game sprites (unless they make it out to be a big plot point in the future like it happened with the 'Odor' joke). Still a decent watch, you should continue making these videos.

I personally think it makes sense for the Toys to be possessed, especially due to their behavior during FNAF 2. Even if they have their high-tech security measures, I doubt that non-possessed animatronics would be crawling through vents and do stuff like removing their eyes and beak. It also kind of gives the dead children from SAVETHEM something to do, since they're very much not the same as the MCI kids. To me, connecting JJ and the Toys to SAVETHEM is another piece of evidence as to why they're possessed.

There is no actual proof that she isn't real. It would not be unreasonable to assume she is.

She pops up under your desk on rare occasions and she is barely seen outside of fnaf 2 unlike golden Freddy who has multiple appearances and Easter eggs across the series so no it’s not unreasonable to assume she isn’t real. Not to mention that just because a character appears in UCN doesn’t automatically mean they are cannon (nightmare balloon boy, nightmare mangle etc) there is a difference between something being cannon and something being there just because fnaf is an IRL video game series and the “game” part of every fnaf game is just as important as the story itself, some things may overlap one another I personally believe the withered animatronics are possessed because of the simple reason William Afton stuffs his victims into the animatronic suits and I don't know about you but I don’t think a child and fit inside balloon boy or JJ.

@@djkalla2973 Let's go over these points one by one. 1. Being an easter egg who appears very rarely does not necessarily mean that the character isn't real. Sure, it doesn't confirm she exists, but saying that she can't be a real character because of that is very close-minded. Or do you mean to tell me that Shadow Freddy doesn't exist in FNAF's lore? Or Yenndo, despite the fact he appeared in Help Wanted 2? 2. Ultimate Custom Night is most likely canon to FNAF's lore for a multitude of reasons. JJ is in the game, which makes her canon to some extent. Even if she's not a physical animatronic, she was something that both the FNAF 2 guards and William Afton saw. If UCN is canon, you can't pick and choose what parts of it are canon or not. If the game is canon and later games don't contradict what it presents, then those things are canon. Also, Nightmare Balloon Boy specifically was stated to be canon by Scott Cawthon sometime after FNAF 4's Halloween Update. 3. You can include things for FNAF as a game while also being part of the story. Golden Freddy, the posters of the kids crying, the newspaper, all of these easter eggs in FNAF 1 are there mainly to be easter eggs to give players something interesting to look at or be spooked by while also serving as hints and pieces of the game's hidden story. JJ's inclusion in the games can be both for cosmetic/gameplay and story reasons. They are not mutually exclusive. 4. While it is true that the original group that later became the Withereds had the kids stuffed into them, that is not the only way that souls can possess an animatronic. FNAF 6 shows us how Charlie possessed the Puppet, and it simply layed down beside the body and that was enough for her to possess it. Who's to say that the souls of the kids in SAVETHEM couldn't have possessed the Toys in a similar manner. I know my theory's not the most solid one in the world, but at least try to use arguments that work.

@@veronicamoment I just don't think it makes sense why Afton would leave the victims lying on the floor out in the open and to counter argue your point of possession not having to be caused by stuffing I think the reason he didn't do it with Charlotte is because that was the first person he killed before going off the hook and killed everyone else. My point of her being an easter egg isn't to prove shes non cannon but it sure as hell doesn't help her situation it's also about her lack of appearances only 3 game appearances and 1 of them not even being cannon, pretty much every other easter egg character has appeared more than 1 time after their debut (Shadow Bonnie for example appears in, FNAF 2, FNAF 3, FNAF world, UCN, and FNAF AR). About your point of her not having arms in UCN, we know scott does not like reusing models in his games and your not meant to see her arms anyways and the reason Balloon boy has his arms is because you can actually see one in the vent and i can imagine modeling the entire arm would be easier than just making his hand nub.
