The lyrics are structured in a very clever way, I think. There's two very obvious double-meanings in the first few lines that are intended to arouse suspicion (the very first line, before he continues, is "I only need you to run," and then sings "Or be afraid! It's your choice.") But then the lyric section mostly stops in being such explicitly ominous. There's definitely ways to interpret the rest of the lyrics as creepy, but there's very few obvious double-meanings in them. It's just general inspirational stuff that Sonic would probably actually say. This whiplash creates (to simplify things) two different reactions. People who see entire lyric section as ominous will be kept on guard as the Faker throws out very generic sugary "inspirational" things, with the creepiness deriving from somebody who obviously doesn't have your best intentions pretending they do. So when he finally drops off the mask after pretending for so long that he was a good guy, it feels good to finally be proven right. I, however, had noticed the creepiness of the first few lines, but then got absolutely suckered in by the actor's voice and Sonic's attempt at inspiration. I knew that there was something off, and I saw the thumbnail of another video so I knew this was an EXE song, but I still fell for it. So the reveal that he's just a Faker gives off a- "wait, I was tricked!" feeling, but also creates a lot of replayability factor for the video where you can relisten to the lyric section and realize that it was all just a ploy. Or be like me, and get suckered in every time. And I think that's just really good songwriting! Hats off to y'all!

Something I’m not seeing many people notice; The name of the mod can be read as “Roden Trap”. Roden is described as many things, but often referred to as a Red Valley. Looking at Phase 2, it’s clear that Green Hill is very much of a Valley that has become distorted. Blood stains the land, statues and the water. In a way, it is a Red Valley. And, for the trap part? It’s obvious; the mod is a trap. Honestly, intentional or not, it’s a clever mod either way. I like it!!

Another Churney Gurney masterpiece for me to gush about? By all means!! 0:00-1:36 I love this entire segment. Sonic.exe played his role perfectly as the deceiver. His song sounds "upbeat" and "uplifting" and has deceived many people thinking "this is Sonic giving BF/the player encouragement!" No. That's wrong. And if you pay attention to the lyrics you'd see it. "I only need you to run" That right there is already a subtle hint on his true intensions. "You can stand up and fight or be afraid, it's your choice" Exactly how his games usually go. You can either stand up and fight against him by playing the game. Or be scared and cower in his world. The end result is the same. It's simply your choice on how you die by his hands. "So stay within that box, or set yourself free, *for me* " That right there. Either cower in fear or open yourself up to his game. That emphasis on "for me" makes the entire intension clear for anyone that knows how Sonic.exe works. And this entire intro song is absolutely perfect in how it embodies this demon. Sonic was never in this mod. He's just the bait to get you into exe's game and you fell right into it. 1:36-2:44 Okay, where the fuck do I even start with this? The first time I played this mod I had no idea it was a .exe mod and only came to my realizations after playing the mod again for the 7th time. And seeing exe pervert Green Hill Zone to this level is something we don't see often with exe mods. Sure we see dark and creepy versions of the zone in other mods (such as the Lord X Cycles Encore mod) but not to this extent. The dismembered Flicky in the background with its frantic pained churps being heard is the pinnacle of flipping a concept on its head. In Green Hill Zone you hear birds because it's a zone teeming with life and is peaceful. But here in this dark hellish abyss the birds aren't chirping because it's peaceful. They're cheering because they're in immeasurable agony and cannot die. No one can in Sonic.exe's sick twisted world. Also just as a good side note I love that Sonic.exe just kicks a flicky at you and laughs. It's so cartoony that I couldn't help but laugh. 2:44-4:45 And there it is. The famous "Game Over" screen from the OG creepypasta that's both famous and infamous. Knuckles got FUCKED up. And Eggman has seen better days. It's hard to believe they aren't even dead. Just constantly living in those impossible conditions as souls. 3:20 "Soul Black as the Night, Heart Cold as Ice, Your Pain and Torment, My favorite Vice" (not really any gushing or observations just cool lyrics I figured fit that part) Overall this mod is peak. 10/10 Sonic.exe fans are keeping FnF alive. Since literally nobody is modding for this game because of the community. Appreciate you Churney.

1:24 This transition is so unbelievably good. Amazing cutscene, amazing conversion from Sonic's voice to Sonic.EXE's voice, and amazing laugh for Sonic.EXE. Song only gets better after this part as well. All of it combined give me chills, AKA it's awesome. On top of the transition, the mod's UI /HUD also changes after Sonic.EXE reveals himself, main example being the new fonts used for the UI. The Accuracy also gets X'd off which is cool, guessing that has some meaning in-game (though I haven't played so idk). Timer also gets reset, which only makes the fake out Obituary pulls off even better thanks to all the other items in play. The main menu also changes as the RodentRap veil is off. Really cool how well-made the fake out was; game copied the old FNF menu and all that when playing for the first time. So much effort was put into just this one song, and it blows me away. Team did an amazing job. Guessing this build is only the beginning taking the freeplay menu into account, of which has many, many, many empty slots waiting to be filled. It's nice having a new mod to eat up and wait in anticipation for; I was worried Mario's Madness would be it for FNF, but the community just keeps on giving. Love it bruv. Bw3na, Landy, and yourself popped off very hard with Obituary. Wish the best to the development team moving forward!

This is what Ive been waiting for! A mod that perfectly fakes out the player like how the original story protrays it, giving you the promise of a time with Sonic to turn into q horrifiying experience. They even hid the exe assests inside of their source code so no one can spoil it for themselves! Your work on this brings it to another level as well, I love the double meaning of Sonic's lyrics, both sounding like his character very well while having menacing undertones to it if thought of from a certain perspective, foreshadowing the reveal right around the corner.

This actually tricked me wtf. But anyways lemme tell details I found interesting about free-4-me. First, I like how well X manages to act like the real Sonic, it’s really well done! Second, I don’t think anyone really cared but pay attention to the lyrics: you can see that meanwhile some of the stuff that "Sonic" says fits with him there’s something’s that make it obvious he isn’t who he wants us to believe. Words like: "I only need you to run" and "You can stand up and fight or be afraid" alongside "Set yourself free for me" are definitely a red flag. and the way they interpreted green hill during the phase after 1:36 is absolutely terrifying. Just seeing all of the animals being either dead or being hung by their own flesh is just… wow. Gotta say, this is the perfect revival for me.

My favorite detail is how bf kinda acts how the player is thinking. From the very start, the suspicion is full on sight. Those lyrics do sound something out of Sonic's philosophies, they can easily be applied to 2011 X. I cite the following lyrics as examples - "I only need you to run" seems pretty obvious. - "You can stand up and fight, or be afraid! It's your choice!" is more or less the dichotomy of how the pre-2018 Sonic.exe fandom, and characters within .exe games, see the titular X. - "So stay within that box or set yourself free" refers to X's desire to "free" humanity by trapping them in his game, ironically putting them in a greater box than reality. - "We're here to stay, We'll never go away!" is similar to that of many lines referring to X's immortality.

Absolutely the intent, to my knowledge. Hinted at by the logo having the T capitalized and the fact that there’s an unused sprite of 2011x being puppeted higher in the sky “upwards” Also, a common trap is some sort of contraption that lifts you up in the air by the foot or by encasing you in a net. Take the Ewok traps from Star Wars for example. So a “Roden Trap” is something that’s existed for centuries and likely what the title is referring to.
