None of my friends likes to watch these types of movies with me because I'm ex-military and I scream at the screen and then point out the flaws, so I've learned over the years is to bite my tongue, but my expressions are pretty much like yours and that gives my friends a barometer of the BS if my face gets twisted or not 😁

I worked in radiology in the 1980's, Inglewood California, and work on three (3) patients (aka criminals vs. criminal), two (2) shot in the forehead (between the eyes, so to speak) and one who was shot in the mouth. One patient shot in the forehead with shot with a 22 caliber handgun round. The bullet fractured the frontal sinus, and traveled under the skin from the forehead, under the scalp, exiting proximal to the occipital parietal angle/lambda. The second patient was shot in the mid-forehead with a 9mm handgun round. The bullet fragmented, and entered into the frontal sinus, but went no further. The third and last patient was shot in the mouth with a 45 ACP, point blank range. The bullet shattered the incisors, and all the read molars, lacerating the tongue and pallet. All patients survived. So, it is possible, but 99% a bullet to the head is fatal, from my experience. These patients were lucky, and not their time to go anywhere but prison.

I had a stepdad that used a M1 to shoot himself in the head. Unfortunately for him, it went In under his chin and exited with his sinuses. Somehow he managed to dial 911, but couldn’t talk since most of his jaw was in the ceiling, the cops ended up finding him bleeding out on the bedroom floor. They had to do a graft to replace his jaw bone with parts from his hip. His nose is completely collapsed and he’s still an asshole.

How did ENT deal with the massive infections from the fractured sinus not to mention the 9mm that smashed its way into the frontal sinus? I can't see any scenario where overwhelming sepsis was not on the mind of every surgeon, resident, and PA student that saw these stooges in the OR and later in the ICU. And people wonder why medicine costs so much. But I did a physical on an inmate that had been stabbed in the right ventricle two blocks from the hospital in McAllen Texas. I sent for the operative report so I could read this miracle.
@fuswatenetke82952 жыл бұрын
@@1dirkmanchest When I met the gentleman it was 3 years post the incident. He had a 4 inch divot in his forehead, between his eyebrows. The doctors managed it, as he was alive. Now I can say he had many medical problems beside his head/facial injury, CHF, kidney disease, COPD, to name a few.
@1dirkmanchest2 жыл бұрын
@@fuswatenetke8295 wow humans can be ver resilient yet very delicate at the same time. On errant heart beat can start a run of VFib or other V Tach under the “right “ circumstances. And this was before ENT had all the scopes they have now. They were probably using Vancomycin Chloramphenicol and other abx with some harsh side effects. Bet you have seen some things!
@fuswatenetke82952 жыл бұрын
@@1dirkmanchest One thing I learned working in a hospital for 10 years, it is difficult to kill a health adult male, unless you target the correct vital areas. Humans, as you say, are very resilient, and fight off most infection pretty well, until antibiotics was over prescribed.

Able is right. A side to side is almost always a kill. Some do survive, but a front to back is even more survivable. If the round slides through the Phineas gap which is the gap between the left and right hemisphere of the brain, many have survived. Phineas Guage was a man in the 19th century working on the railroad. He was tamping black powder in a hole with a steel tamping rod. Kicked a spark, created an impromptu mortar and it went up through his mouth under the chin, took out teeth and an eye, but split that gap as the 6ft rod went all through his brain carrier group and landed 30 ft away.

Great video as always. Also, just want to say there is a good point in checking the pulse even if it looks like a fatal head shot. There is a book on neurosurgery that talks about how combat has advanced the field of neuroscience and brain surgery because those wounds can surprisingly be survivable even since the Civil War. Also, a friend of mine that worked as a nurse in ICU would talk about two types of failed suicide she would see a lot of and one is gunshot to the head. The other is to overdose on Tylenol which will kill you, but not the way they thought. I am not going to be able to unhear syrupdelicious. So, thanks for that too.

IMHO, Lone Survivor highlights that not everything is black and white. The little shepherd boy ran his ass off to dime them out to the Taliban. Luttrel was later given shelter by a random dude willing to stand against the Taliban. Pretty sure Luttrel and the random dude are still friends to this day. Mile 22, yes, is fiction. Probably the compromise both Berg and Wahlberg had to make to continue doing big budget Hollywood movies. Because Hollywood now cares about world wide box office numbers, Red Dawn remake changed the enemy from China to North Korea, and nobody knows who the Fck Top Gun, Maverick was fighting. The point is, even Superman can't represent "truth, justice, and the American way" anymore. Mile 22 was a win for enemies of the American way. It is intended to highlight that America (at the very least) is morally gray in motivation, and as stated in the video, despite having high priced Gucci tech and overwatch, a solo dude with skills and a plan can wreak havoc. Basically same theme of Vietnam War, if you believe the communist propaganda. It is intended to show flaws in US and demoralize the weak minded. Notice how there was critical pushback about Lone Survivor and American Sniper that shows Americans as heroes, but no pushback on this film that casts Americans as the Keystone Cops.

About US SF units operating in US soil, there's this thing named Posse Comitatus Act which forbids any US law enforcement and military force to operate in US soil. I realized that when I read The Terminal List because SPOILER, in the book, SecDef gets an executive order that bans that act in order to hunt James Reece and with that, they send the SEALS to go after him, unlike the TV adaption which was more realistic because they send the FBI's HRT instead of the SEALs.

Ok so for the first scene I'm thinking as a non operational tactician, the idea of that breach protocol is to not arouse suspicion apon approach, and to hit the objective with speed surprise and violence of action without having the neighbors call 911. With that said, I would not have thrown in a banger false foot in the door suppress the door sentry with a suppressed pistol in a duffle bag or brief case. Simultaneously as you are making entry, have two other team A personnel casually approach the front door to guard the entry way/ long corner or corridor and the other guard the stairway/short corner and corridor. Then have team B make forced entry in the rear out of site of the public. Once the first body hits the floor, you loose the element of surprise.
