FNIGC is the premier source of information about First Nations people living on reserve and in northern communities in Canada.
An incorporated non-profit operating with a special mandate from the Assembly of First Nations’ Chiefs in Assembly, FNIGC has been entrusted by First Nations to undertake important data collection initiatives.
FNIGC recognizes that real change can come through sound policy-making, but only if it’s supported by quality information - information that is collected (and protected) by First Nations people for First Nations people.
To that end FNIGC in collaboration with its Regional Partners conduct unique surveys, such as the First Nations Regional Health Survey, the First Nations Regional Early Childhood, Education and Employment Survey, and the First Nations Community Survey, that focus on the lives of First Nations people.
This work is undertaken using a First Nations-driven process that respects the data sovereignty of the 634 First Nations communities who participate in our surveys and help contribute to the knowledge of First Nations.
This is the story of one of those communities.
