My grandmother is Paiute. I’ve seen her celebrate her families heritage and I’ve always loved it and I love football. This is awesome

I find it interesting that the NFL goes all over the world looking for players when there's talent right in our backyard.

What if the natives wanted them to change the name from redskins because they did want to be associated with a bad football team 😂
@MrL1983
@MrL1983 2 жыл бұрын
Natives didn't want the change or really cared about it anyway. It was self-hating white liberals that wanted it changed, and the league caved.

It wasn’t their land, as they have been taking it from nature and from each other for tens of thousands of years.

Now I'm hearing about this I'm a little disappointed in my hometown Chiefs. I've been saying this for quite some time that one of the best things for us to do would be to show our respects and using the name by giving back to those that are struggling on the reservations.

What did native Americans think about the redskins? Would love an opinion from someone

As someone who grew on the Cherokee reservation, and still lives very near it. Most people I grew up with were either indifferent to the name or directly supported it. It was never perceived as racist, and still is not amongst most Indians.

You will find, with alot of research, the vast majority of Native Americans supported the Redskins. The word itself doesnt have an origin based in racism.

@Rowdy Jr No, they aren’t, you moron. Blacks are indigenous to Africa since you see literally no other black people emerge from any other corner of the world. You don’t know what words mean and you get your ignorant and racist talking points from other uneducated morons that don’t even know how to use a dictionary. And I looked up that Dane dude. Isn’t he some gay guy that has been repeatedly debunked by even other black Israelites?

It’s great that the NFL is doing this for these kids, but let’s not forget that until three years ago they had a team named after a slur against Indigenous people.
@bubsterjohnson7438

None of us real indians ever found those team names to be offensive lol it was the woke community who wanted attention getting those changed
@AlejandroSanchez-pl6jw

But it wasn’t a racial slur to the majority of the Indian community. Only a small fraction of them hate the name
