This is definitely one of the coolest RC Helicopters I've seen, almost looks like an Airwolf. I feel the same way about having realism looks, this one is above that and I'm thinking about buying it just because it looks so cool. Much props to Blade for the design, and thanks to you Nate for making it look like flying it is very user friendly.

The sound is probably what I like the most about this one. Twin blades and constant RPM are what gives it that realism. Very, very nice heli. 🚁

It's a sharp looking aircraft! It looks like a cross between Airwolf and the tail rotor of a Dauphin helicopter! Just sitting on the ground it looks fast. And judging from the maiden flight..it *is* fast. WIth cold air...you lose due to the effects of the cold on the battery, but you gain because of the density of the air increases the lift from the main rotor.

19:25, when in the flight modes, your throttle is at a constant speed, mode 1, generally calmer, mode 2 higher head speed, and altitude controlled by left stick in the middle for "zero pitch", then you have full negative and positive pitch control. I do not fly in this mode, as I'm not good enough yet.

Biggggg difference between now and when I learned to fly helis... back in the gy401 tail gyro and flybar days lol.... back when we put big carbon rods across the landing skids in a X pattern with foam balls in the end. I'm glad that I learned back in the day of no electronic aids to get us out of trouble. It tought us how to rebuild and do setups and just learn helis inside and out more so than just building them did. We also learned to not try to advance quicker than our skills allowed or else it got real expensive real quick. Lots of time in real fight g3 to learn in-between flights. I learned to fly on an original trex 600N and by the time Flybarless/DFC brushless helis was hitting the market and tech was advancing quick I was already a fairly skilled female 3d heli pilot. Now days the 700s fly so amazing and locked in its not even anything like it used to be back in the nitro flybared helis. Now days the flybarless systems are so good, the servos so good/accurate and fast, the frame/head geometry so good and the power systems just supplying balls to the wall power its nothing like it used to be. I miss the days of old school flybar nitro helis and still fly my old 600n and 700n to this day when I want to get retro and remind my self of just how good the systems are now days.

Check Multiplex Funcopter from a ways back. I like this, wish it were about $100 less in price, but I may have to be one anyway. I got ahold of an old funcopter a few years back and it flew pretty terribly...fixed pitch, etc. This one looks very good. I kind of like it due to added visibility and a bit of possible protection during a light crash.

Nate, its nice to see that you have taken some time to improve your helicopter skills. This review was pretty good and was enjoyable to watch you fly in a more professional way. I hope you will continue to fly this helicopter to continue to improve your flying skills, for that Nice Job !!! This blade heli is interesting I'm not sure if I like it or hate it. This future look is happening with a lot of manufactures but I wonder how durable that foam is especially when in a crash. My big worry is that tail boom snapping and ripping the wires out !! Not super crazy about the tail rotor, I guess they were going for a duct look, in the very beginning I thought that had a fenestron tail rotor. Hmm the price is a little steep at $450.00 . Maybe blade would be nice enough to send you another Eclipse 360 just so we can see the durability in a crash.
@modernart869 ай бұрын
Seems like out of safe mode is basically a 3D flight mode that switches throttle to 60-80% throttle speed? Then it swaps the throttle stick to pitch mode instead? Throttle stick up iirc is pitch up for upward thrust and down throttle stick is pitch down for downward thrust for inverter flights. Only dabbled in it for a bit with my little 3D heli. Was too scared to do too much myself since I’m only used to scale flying. If I’m wrong please correct me anyone, and thanks ☺️👍🏻 Great video as always you guys! Keep ‘em coming! This heli looks cool for sure and I appreciate the full body fuselage/tail boom and futuristic looks of it. Also love that the tail rotor is enclosed for protection of those accidental ground taps upon take off and landing. 👍🏻

$450usd for a small piece of foam with around $50 worth of parts??? This industry is killing the goose. "Real" 3-D pilots probably get a chuckle out of your quick rolls then right back to safe mode. I on the other hand, admire your bravery cuz that's more than I would try! lol I'm on the fence on that one and it's foam body. Almost looks a tiny bit cheesy, and not crazy about the whole tail area. Looks like a lot of junk in the trunk. Kinda fat, ya know? Looks like it flies okay though. I just got a Fusion 360, and am working with that.
@mssippijim8 ай бұрын
I've read a lot of the comments here and they are pretty disparaging for the most part. Please keep a few things in mind. 1. Not everyone wants a monster 3D machine. Scale helicopters don't flip over and have convulsions in the air, at least not by design. 2. It's NOT really a foam helicopter. It is a helicopter frame like a lot of others, albeit not the most modern design, with a foam body. 3. $449 is a nice chunk of money, but to say it should sell for $100 - $300? The flight controller alone is $199. 4. Not everyone has 20/20 vision and reflexes like a cat, for some folks who want to fly casual, scale style with something big enough that they can see it at a distance, it might be just the ticket. I don't expect it will be a huge seller, but I applaud Horizon for offering something different. And finally, Nate doesn't claim to be an expert helicopter pilot. For this product I think his review might be more relevant than someone with massive helicopter skills flying it would be.

ur review of the voltronica corsair mini 4 ch plane was great and more impressive than this thing priced correctly at 100-120 no negativity here im only commenting to say to the manufacturers should bring the price way waay down if they expect to sell a reasonable amount of them. The comments pretty much prove it's value here. Maybe they need some alibaba flight comtrollers instead - the 6axis gyros in alot of budget planes are great so, the increase of 400% simply cannot be justified by a flight controller - Especially when you realize what you can get instead at that price bracket. Great flite footage. Love your vids keep up the good work and Love how supportive and pleasant your wife is. You all make a great team.

I have this heli and I like it. For all of you mentioning the foam, the helicopter is not foam, it has a traditional heli frame under the foam. I will however say I would never recommend this to a beginner heli pilot. I bought it for a scale build and will rarely do any 3D flying with it, if ever. It is very stable and if you have some heli flying experience it is a nice heil to fly. I am not a great pilot but I have been flying helis for 15 years and have about 14 of them between nano to 700 size.

Looks like the frame underneath the main body is from the blade 400 and I see some of it's parts are compatible. I do like the fuselage giving more body, there's not enough helis with bodies. just a never ending flow of pod and stick with very few canopies that even look good. There are some from the F3P competition types that do full body but even those seem few. I like hard 3d helis but it can be hard with all the crashing and sometimes you just want to chill with a nice heli that has a full but slim body to it so it's not so skimpy but with some sporty performance as well. Though I do agree the tail is a bit pudgy for my taste, it doesn't need to be that thick to simulate fenestron.

Looks nice and for a beginner it might be fascination to fly a heli which looks a bit more like a "real" full size heli but it seems to be a bit expensive. The technology inside this foam body does not seem to be the most up to date. But if it brings in new people to heli flying it does a good job. Be careful with this changing from safe to 3D and back to safe.... it might once not work in the way you think. You will as well slower develop as a pilot because you are switching from "really" controlling the heli manually and getting help from the electronincs.

Love the look. Nice flight time too. Don't care about the 3D capabilities. I would probably just keep it in safe or normal mode and fly it around all scale-like. Unfortunately, I kept an AMA membership for almost 10 years and it does not work like you describe. I'm not sure it even has a use outside of airfields that require it to fly. I've seen it used more to gatekeep the "old man's club" than anything else. I refuse to have it anymore and simply don't fly at fields that require it.
@TheRcSaylors10 ай бұрын
Was there a particular reason that you decided not to renew your AMA membership?
@StormdriverOne9 ай бұрын
@@TheRcSaylors More than anything else, it was the gatekeeping. Seeing people turned away because they didn't have their papers in order on club day. AMA Membership, Nashville (Davidson County) Park Permit for model aircraft and even local club fees if you want to fly at "their" field. Or... we can just go one county over and fly without any of that.
@TheRcSaylors9 ай бұрын
I completely understand and would have probably done exactly what you did! Definitely sounds more like a club decision though, right? Like maybe more about the club and less about AMA? When I started flying, club dues plus AMA (plus cost of entry into the hobby) kept me from really enjoying it for a few years. Slowly but surely, any extra money I earned went toward the hobby and I slowly upgraded and joined the club. For me it was worth it. They had running water, plumbing, electricity, and of course a great flying space! Sorry to hear you’ve had such a bad experience. People tend to ruin things for others, too often in almost everything in life. Even RC at times. 💯⚓️

It’s definitely not a cheap helicopter. What is the perfect helicopter in your opinion? 🤔⚓️

Looks like an old blade 450x mainframe,wrapped in Styrofoam!

I actually think this foam body thing could catch on. It really opens up a lot of potential designs, and doesn’t add much weight! 👍💯😎⚓️

It's worse than that! The 450X was already an older Blade 400-3D plastic body with a flybarless head slapped on it. This is the very same 15year-old Blade 400 body - even still using a bellcrank on one of the cyclic servos - as you say, wrapped in a foam body. Blade really are milking that old plastic Blade 400 frame for all its worth!

@tomatwalden still fly my blade 400 and 450x,just have to b careful because you can't get parts for them anymore.still fly my trex 250 flybared also.that old stuff is what I learned to fly on so it's kind of sentimental to me.

@@darrinwoodward14 Maybe you'll get parts now as this new model is, as you say, just a Blade 400/450-3D/450X/330S with a foam body around it!

Are you using negative pitch on the rolls? It's dropping a lot of altitude. I know helicopters aren't your thing so I'm curious.
@TheRcSaylors10 ай бұрын
No, but I’ve been talking to someone about that and plan to practice that negative pitch on my rolls with another helicopter in the very near future! 👍💯😎⚓️

I'm sure you're very busy guy with family and at work. 10 minutes on a simulator a few times a week helps incredibly with helicopters. Practicing "borientations" for two minutes each can make a difference in comfort quickly. Nose facing to the right hovering, nose facing to the left, nose facing away, nose in. Then you can practice inverted hovering on the simulator and the world opens up. Take care love the content.

Best looking R C Helicopter I have seen . Beautiful. Can I use my Futaba t 14 SG Transmitter ? I sur hope so . Thanks

You would have to change the receiver and add a flybarless gyro.
