I bought a cheap foam cannon from amazon as well. I've used it over 100 times already and it still works perfectly fine. Other than getting the hose connector turned around (watch out for that one), the machine is simple to put together and use kzbin.infoUgkxfQauTxLT0JLSvqkq10rD79TU4k0Vz8zP . And very nice, too. I'm surprised at the power-it's more than we'll ever need, and we've not even used the most powerful setting yet.I've cleaned off a dirty concrete porch to get it ready for sealing, started to clean siding, and I know this pressure washer will be terrific for cleaning tools this fall.The only issue we had is we had turned around the hose connector, and it leaked. Once it was on correctly, though, we had no problems with the connection. Just remember that the end with the green knob goes towards the hose. It's obvious now what we did wrong, but not necessarily obvious at the time.

I guess the question is: is Sookie thicker foam truly better at washing the car? If it just sits it's not actually removing any dirt where is the soap that runs off will continue to pull away and you can just recoat. It seems cool but I'm not convinced it actually does a better job cleaning your car
@BlakesGarage6 жыл бұрын
The foam does run off relatively quick. So I would say it’s better at pulling the dirt away from the paint.
@BigWitter15 жыл бұрын
Thicker foam is better because it does not evaporate as quickly giving you more work time, the car stays wetter for longer with thicker foam, reducing chances of water spots, plus it acts as a lubricant allowing you to scrub the paint and not scratch and swirl the paint as much. you can also add all purpose cleaners inside the foam cannon to help breakdown tar and bugs.
@AB-80X Жыл бұрын
@@BigWitter1 First off, foam is NOT a lubricant. What determines the lubricity is your PIR and the product in question. Secondly, thick heavy foam falls off in clumps, and if it is too dry, it does not do squat. Quality foam is a foam that is light which means it can be wet, but still cling for long enough. Snow foam does not evaporate either. It's tendency to collapse in on itself as some foams do, is either a trait of the foam, and sometimes a simple lack of quality. However, the latter is far from always the case. Especially some prewashes would not be able to do their job if they were too thick and did not create a wet surface. BH Touch-Less is a good example of this. Some add a foam booster to it and quickly find that it does not work nearly as good. If you get water spots because your foam dissipates, wash your car in the shade, or make sure your foam is not too dry. See that's the difference between an MTM and a MJJC. The former creates a lingering, but light and wet foam that does a lot of work, the latter just creates a thick heavy dry foam that looks cool on KZbin, and waste a ton of product in the process.

Hi, I don't have a water filtration system at home. The city water is hard, so it leaves white water marks if I don't dry everything off. Is there a car soap that will help with that? Can I avoid not having to dry my windows and car? Car detailing is not what I do 🙂 Thank you!
@otm777 Жыл бұрын
I don't think there's a way to "avoid" drying your car other than not drying it. If your car was ceramic coated it would be much easier to blow dry it with a leaf blower. But having hard water could be an issue with ceramic coatings. With ceramic coatings, water will intentionally bead up and easily disperse when driving. However, if your car is sitting with beads you wouldn't want that those to dry on your car, especially with hard water as it can etch into the clear coat. If you don't want to towel dry the car, just try using a leaf blower.

Hello I have a question 1. Do you think buying expensive foamlance is necessary? 2. Foamlance from China uses more foamwash than expensive foamlance? 3. If thick foam is required, pressure and gpm are required. How much is the minimum?
@AB-80X Жыл бұрын
If you properly calculate your PIR, every foam lance use the same amount of product. What is different, is what it does with it. Many of the cheap lances and other odd lances like the MJJC, don't do a good job of creating a useful foam. You have to remember that this shaving cream stuff, is absolutely useless for actually cleaning a car. What works is a wet foam that is light enough to cling for a few minutes, but also able to run down the side of the car, dragging the dirt with it. That dry shaving cream just sits there and does nothing. That's what you pay for with an MTM. It can be hard to tell the difference at first, but if you look at the foam that slowly runs off at the bottom of the car, that's what tells you what's really going on.

Yes, and your point being? I would assume that rather than telling people that it does not work in your machine, you would tell them where and how to find the info on what orifice sizes they need and how to find out. I genuinely hope that if you wash cars with that machine, you use something like a 060 nozzle to lower that PSI, unless you're washing busses or vans.

the tube in the bottle should likely be slightly longer than the bottle itself so that full screwed in it bends to the side. That lets u get the last bit out easier. If your talking about hooking up plastic aquarium tubing to move the heavy bottle off your wand it would prolly work but the soap solution would take a while to siphon up the tube before it reaches your tube which is a bit of a hassle imo

@FrancescoRicci765 жыл бұрын
To get a thicker foam you need more air. The orifice that you replace adds additional fluid which uses more product but it doesn’t produce thicker foam, it creates a greater wet surface. I think the key is to get a thicker and dryer foam that will stick onto the surface.
@BlakesGarage5 жыл бұрын
Yeah, but this orifice is smaller. 1.1mm compared to 1.25
@every_thing_wood12512 жыл бұрын
So how do you do that?
@AB-80X Жыл бұрын
Yes and no. One thing to make VERY clear. You do not want a dry sticky foam. It cannot drag the dirt off, nor can it dissolve the dirt/film. The orifice does not change the amount of air, it changes how much water is let through at a specific pressure - it only changes the PIR basically. As long as your pressure is good, no need to block the flow. What determines the air is the overall design. What you need is an airy foam that is not too dry nor too heavy. Shaving cream may look cool, but it is garbage for cleaning cars. A perfect example of a poorly designed cannon is the ever so popular MJJC. Very dry and sticky foam with little to no air in it, and it wastes a ton of product. That's why an MTM is as good as it is. When the PIR is correct, it creates a light foam that won't drop off in clumps or just sit there, but rather one that is wet enough slowly drag dirt off the car while also dissolving film. Are there situations that call for a 1.1 mm nozzle? Yes, but only with these small garbage machines. Even a K4 or K5 which aren't exactly that great, will work fine using a 1.25 mm nozzle. As long as your pressure is decent, your PIR is what matters more than anything.

I presume he just adjusted it. Personally, I think it's best to spray the side panels using in a horizonal orientation if the cannon allows rotation. Spraying vertically (especially if wide) wastes so much product on the ground and shooting over the car. The front, top, and rear of the vehicle is idea for vertical spray.

My canon puts down a thin soap coat and goes through the bottle quickly, but I’m wondering how important the thickness of the foam is, since emulsification of dirt only happens at the paint/foam interface. Why is more better? Anyone?
@henriksjolund81624 жыл бұрын
It is not the thickness that determines but how long it stays and cleans and lifts dirt that is most important if you are serious.
@AB-80X Жыл бұрын
It is a mix of duration, wetness and ability to drag the dirt off. A foam should absolutely not cling too long, and some foams not at all. It really depends what they are designed for. But that "shaving cream" is absolutely useless. When talking about how fast your lance goes though a bottle, you need to look at this in relation to how much water goes though the lance as well. What most people don't do is calculate their PIR. Reality is that systems can be very different and thus mixing ratios will be equally different. Some lances that might seem good like the MJJC, simply creates foam by pulling up a ton of product while letting very little water though. That's not a sign of quality, that's just a way to trick people to think it's a good foam cannon. Here's a suggestion. Using only water, experiment with the adjuster on your foam cannon so that it takes about 13-14 litres to empty it. That means if you fill it with one litre of water and point it down into a bucket, and run it until empty, there should be between 14 and 15 litres in the bucket in total - 13 to 14 litres from the flow though the lance, and one litre from what was in the bottle. This will also allow you to calculate your PIR or Panel Impact Ratio. Most snow foams are designed to have a PIR of 1%-2%. For example Mr. Pink from CG is a good 2% foam. Meguiars Ultimate Snow is fine at about 1.5% or so etc. If you have a total output of say 14000 ml including the 1000 ml from the bottle, getting a 1% PIR simply means using 14 ml of product for every 100 ml of water in the bottle. So for example a 400 ml mix needs 60 ml of product rounded up, and 340 ml of water etc. This is what a lot of people completely miss, and it is pretty important to get the proper performance form both your equipment and your products. Sadly, a lot of manufactures of the soaps aren't exactly honest with what is actually needed. They are more interested in making it look like you get more washing from your purchase than you might actually do. Gotta love a manufacture of a snow foam who with a straight face tells you that you just need 30 ml in a 1000 ml bottle. Must be one hell of a foam cannon they tested that on.

hi does this work for MATCC Foam Cannon Adjustable Snow Foam Lance for SPX Series Pressure Washer?
@Ducknell5 жыл бұрын
Stupid question but what is the purpose of the foam Cannon? Does this mean you no longer have to use a sponge or a brush to actually wash the car? Just foam then rinse?
@BlakesGarage5 жыл бұрын
So the idea is that you first spray the car with water for a quick removal of dust. Then foam cannon to let the soap dwell. Then use a microfiber mitt and two bucket technique. Then final rinse. The main purpose for this is so that the least amount of dirt and grime is smeared around on your paint causing swirls and scratching.

I used my foam cannon and it doesn’t foam as much, and sprays a very runny soapy water. I have an 1100psi electric pressure washer. Will a 1.1mm orifice work better or will a 1.0mm orifice work better with my foam cannon? Not sure which one I should order. Please let me know.
@BlakesGarage3 жыл бұрын
1.1mm should definitely help out
@AB-80X Жыл бұрын
What is your flow rate? That's a fairly low PSI,, if the flow is low as well, a 1.0 might work for you.

I’m no chemist, but the foam thickness doesn’t mean better cleaning power. The soap also has something to do. I did that mod. Yes the foam is thicker, but it doesn’t remove more dirt than before. Thanks for the video. Wash your hat or better yet, throw it out.
@tuninggamer7 ай бұрын
I think the idea is that thicker foam is less runny and liquid and thus stays longer in place to work its magic on the dirt. But I think you’re right in saying that the type of soap used is important too

Should you fill the foam cannon full with snow foam or add water ? Think I’ve been doing it wrong hahaha
@BlakesGarage4 жыл бұрын
You can do a blend of snow foam and warm water is best.
@AB-80X Жыл бұрын
Fill up with about 300 ml of water then add about 100 ml of soap. If too thick, dial it back a bit. If you use more than 400 ml of mix to foam a car, you're wasting product and working too slow.

I ran out of snow foam, so decided to try some household dish soap instead in the snow foam cannon. I was genuinely surprised to discover that it produced the exact same amount of thick foam as the genuine snow foam. At only 30 cents for a bottle of dish soap, guess I'll be using the dish soap in future and save a few bucks as well. Happy Days 👍👍
@BlakesGarage3 жыл бұрын
Do not do this! Dish soap will strip any wax off the vehicle as ruin the clear coat. Yea it makes suds but you need to buy a actual car based soap for actual protection.
@jeffk31923 жыл бұрын
Yeah it works but will strip (aka clean) the wax or sealant off your vehicle in the process. I highly doubt it will directly hurt your clear coat as long as you dont let it dry on ur car. My dad never waxes his ungaraged vehicles and im sure uses dishwasher soap when he does wash them and the clear coat breaks down after a few years to nothing. Vehicle soaps are almost all Ph neutral to avoid messing with ur waxes etc.
