Foam Core Painting - Use What You Have - Improvised Painting by David K. Austin

Using these foam core boards to paint on recently has been a fascinating experience. The boards don't absorb anything and the paint dries incredibly quickly as a result. The surface is also delicate and the boards crack. I decided to accept these limitations and even add to the "defects" by pre creasing the board. The paint, ink, and marker settle into the crevices and the line quality is something unique to this surface. As many of you know I ordinarily press the paint into the surface but on these boards I have to float the paint on. Because they dry so very quickly too the matte and reflective surfaces play well together.
