Shawn -- Grasshoppers seem extinct here in NW Pennsylvania. Are they abundant in the Cambria-Centre-Clinton-Potter County district? Or, are they abundant in some other localities in Pennsylvania?

@Barry Austin -- Thanks for your comment. Yes, I know that pesticides are often blamed for the grasshopper drought, but I don't know if they are the only culprits. The Japanese beetle is another missing food source for trout, as well as panfish. I wonder whether brook trout would be a little bigger if those forage items were thriving again. Of course, I realize that farmers have serious reasons for controlling them.
