Foamy Cup of Matcha: Watercolor Tutorial

Hi guys! Today I'm painting a glass of matcha green tea, I'm going to be using a similar method to how I painted the cup of coffee in my older video. Well done, as usual, Nia. I love the wooden bowl. You mentioned that Macha tea was used in a ceremony. Since this is something I did not know , would you please tell me a bit about Macha tea...flavour or does it taste similar to something I may have had before, what if anything is added to it, and what is the ceremony, please? Lastly, if you have any idea what type of store would sell it in North America? I like to learn other cultures, traditions, etc. Stay safe, my friend.🤗❤

Thanks Joy! I used a reference photo for the cup and bowl. I was drawn to it also haha I don't know too much about matcha, but I'll just share what I think I know? haha matcha is basically green tea but the dried leaves are ground down into fine powder, that you can lightly whisk and dissolve with water. It makes for a concentrated cup of tea and is very high in antioxidants. They usually have different grades like the culinary, premium and ceremonial grade. So the highest grade is the ceremonial grade and it has a much vibrant and brighter green thn the lower grades. It's quite bitter, and in tea ceremonies in Japan its typically paired with sweets called wagashi. You can make different dishes with the powder too like desserts, and the most popular is probably matcha latte from starbucks (I don't drink starbucks though). You can probably find them in amazon if it's hard to find at an asian grocery store :)
