I think you're making a wise decision to rent from an RV park, not a cop out at all. Let the RV Park handle the property managing. Also you still can become a Permanent FL resident while renting, and move your storage to FL to save on gas. It's a very flexible way of living with lots of benefits like moving if you decide u don't like where u are parked or just want a different bit of scenery every couple of years. Plus you can continue taking excursion vacations, like you have been doing, without worrying about grass cutting, utilities, trash removal, grooming trees & spraying the grounds for mosquitoes. Later if u decide to buy Land maybe look at a small home already built, without an HOA so u can park your trailer, & galavant across the globe. You got this!
@Pearl87910 ай бұрын
Remember also that buying property will compromise your free lifestyle. Taxes, insurance, upkeep, and so forth. This is especially true if you decide to put a structure on the property and if you live on the property. Even if you rent your property out, the same responsibilities pertain. Being a landlord can be hell!

Hi Anthony, I’m a licensed real estate agent in SC. Most land is not cleared and that’s another cost you would need to consider. Take your time and I do think you need a buyer’s agent who would be looking out for your best interest. Never call the agent listed on the sign, they are looking out for the seller’s best interest

Hello Mr. Anthony! Good for you! I think it's a good idea to hold on to your funds and build more funds before taking on land ownership and home ownership. There is a great deal of simplicity in renting vs. ownership. You just got your new trailer a mere couple of months back, and that is your new "home" - enjoy it for another 2-3 years. Keep the money in your pocket. You're not raising kids, etc. Its just you. Enjoy keeping your money in your pocket and still living life and enjoying travel, etc. That land / house is going to be so much of headache. You'll be emptying large portions of your savings so much that your head will spin. I think you've made the right decision! 2300 to 3000 for a permanent camping space is rent for one month for many of us in NYC. Enjoy that YEARLY cost of permament space and pocket your money!!! Your bicycle is really in keeping with what you're talking about. Being able to afford the little / leisurely things without worrying about finances. Very happy for you. This is a VERY wise decision.

Sometimes hiring a general contractor to BUILD you a small home is cheaper than you buying a shed and getting electrical, plumbing and finishing out with insulation, trim, paint etc. Remember a shed will be on raised blocks unless you have a concrete foundation for it ... and you would have to know the size of the base of the shed before making that base. We just went through all that. Got a custom shed built for wayyyyyyy cheaper than us purchasing the Lowes or Home Depot shed and finishing it out. Also a shed will need tie straps if you are going to put it in hurricane-prone FL

Good info Anthony! If you decide to buy some land (not on an established campground), put the basic amenities on it water, electric, WIFI and you can rent the land out to campers while you are traveling. If you do that the money you get from renting to fellow RV'ers/tent campers you can put towards the cost of the utilities ... also you should be able to get a tax break once you start renting it out. Also less taxes to pay out if no house is on the land. Consult with an accountant and/or tax attorney to see if thats doable in FL. Take your time and find the right property. We have a large pond on our ranch and its definitely a focal point to the land. A pond or close to water will bring in those RV'ers who like to go fishing!

@dianenaylor210410 ай бұрын
We just retired FROM Florida to Tennessee. Please know the weather is so harsh in Fl. There are severe thunderstorms and blinding rain EVERY day in the summers. There are also many tornados. You need a real house as mobile homes, tiny houses etc do not hold up! There is also hurricanes and tropical storms. These are no joke either. Because of the weather, it’s almost impossible to get homeowners insurance. Once you do, it’ll go up substantially each year. Also, property taxes are outrageous. We love eastern TN as there are 4 seasons but winters here are mild. There are no hurricanes or daily bad weather! Everything is less expensive from homeowners, auto insurance and property taxes. We have beautiful Mountain View’s and are lakeside. I know people dream of retiring to Florida and many people also leave. If you want to retire there, please get a regular home that is safer. Ps. Watch out for sink holes. Most are in central and western Fl.

Its my understanding that Florida is worst than California when it comes to the cost of homeowners insurance. When the time comes to purchase either land or a house, make sure you look into the cost of homeowners insurance and if you can even get a traditional policy in the area you want to live in, there maybe some surprises once you dig around. Thanks for the update and I'm glad you did your due diligence by checking with zoning. 💕

If you noticed, Kathy's property is in the middle of nowhere. Many residents, particularly in the suburbs, consider sheds, trailers, etc... unsightly. If you're opting to live in a residential neighborhood, why not purchase a brick and mortar? For your lifestyle, something rural, an RV park, tiny home village may be more suitable. At 700 square ft., a shed is no longer a shed it's a barn meant to be housed on acres upon acres of farmland. Considering all of the work that has to be done to make it livable, you'll be better suited to buying a model/manufactured home and placing that on the residential land. I seriously doubt if a resident in that county wants to live by a neighbor who purchased their home from Home Depot. Please consider these things before purchasing residential land. In five years, the facts won't change, and a refund would be out of the question. As always, wishing the best for you, Anthony. ❤

If you're in a residential area and have land you're gonna have to upkeep it all the time. You're gonna have to have somebody. Come and cut the grass all overtime or you'll get fined. You should also look at maybe a place that has something on it like a house. It doesn't necessarily have to be that much more than the land itself. And it may be cheaper than building. If you can get something that's not too bad You can fix it. You can renovate it. You can add-on to it.

The city you live in absolutely WILL be paying attention! Residential zoning has ENDLESS requirements .....RESEARCH, RESEARCH and RESEARCH SOME MORE! I would hire a realtor to work with you & walk your they the ENTIRE process - it will be WELL worth the $ unless you know ALOT about purchasing property. Clearing trees, larger shrubbery etc is best left to the professionals. Unless it’s had a previous home on it, many times this type of land needs to also be leveled & sometimes “filled in”. This adds so much into the cost of land - but if it’s intended to be your HOME, it will need to be done properly. Take your time, do your due diligence & be sure to work with LICENSED PROS👍 BEST of luck Anthony❤️

It’s good you are doing your due diligence. Please keep in mind and questions to ask: Florida weather…hurricanes etc. What type of insurance coverage will you have in a shed home, mobile home with NO wheels, manufactured homes. Very important. I’m sure the structure has to be RATED for hurricanes. What type of taxes will you encounter Ground maintenance while you are away traveling? Extra expense. If you get a well & septic tank, You will probably need a generator in case electric goes out. Another expense. I’m glad you reconsidered buying and are taking your to make a big decision. That permanent residency idea at the camp grounds is great for you right now. Best wishes and safe travels!
