On C2 it looked like J flew towards the lake, and then Shadow comes to the nest from that general direction so she might’ve flown right to whichever tree he was roosting on. I also believe they likely know where one another is more often than not with their super-powered eyesight 😉

It’s so crazy that these eagles lay their eggs in the winter season. It’s a miracle the eggs survive the elements up in Big Bear - they’ve had harsh weather this season so far. Hope these little eggs are a successful clutch this year 🙏💜🙏

I checked in on the nest a couple of times earlier and just prayed for Jackie as she looked so cold but I know from watching past winters that they can get through this together. 28 hours nonstop on the nest; no food and a 2nd delivery!! And all that through a windy snow/ice storm! Whew!Jackie, you are a very impressive Momma. Mom Jackie put in some Tough Nest duty during snow storm , protecting her young Eaglets to be. I'm up good parts of each Nite(never sleep 8 hrs )and the parts between " shake offs" were "Ghostly"--as Jackie was viewed within snow prisons , not moving a feather. Thanks Cali . Today is the first day of (hoping) two (eventual)Eaglets long, healthy, offspring productive Lives. We could not ask for better "young Eagle " Stewardship than Jackie and Shadow will provide.

I know they're fine. It's still hard to watch, esp Jackie in the fierce wind and cold. I avoid the live cam sometimes bc of that so I missed the second egg laying! :-( Thank you for the videos Cali! So good to see the updates on how they're doing.

In my rational mind, I know Jackie is warm with all her feathers and down, and her eggs/babies are toasty, but it breaks my heart to see her covered in snow and whipped by the wind. I remember last year, and the year before. It seems always to storm right after she lays her eggs.

It is hard. We all wish she had a little more freedom with warmer temps. But they do this in Alaska and beyond and it is much colder there! We just have to hope the weather doesn't compromise their nest. TTE, as they 🤗

Even though I’ve seen Jackie incubate in worse, where sometimes all you could see was her head, one still worries! When she stood to shake off, you could see how dry the nest bowl was. Jackie does love to do these challenging shifts! Shadow is one proud Papa ❤️🦅🦅🥚🥚🇦🇺

Seeing that there was a snowstorm, how on Earth can Jackie deal with snow and incubate too? Isn’t it not good for eggs to be in very cold snow? Can’t they freeze? I know that Eagles have a lot of warmth cause or their feathers but, don’t they get quite cold too? My prayers are with Jackie, Shadow and both eggs too.
