I just love checking in with these two lovebirds ❤. Last year was heartbreaking, especially after that long winter. Yes, they move pant at times on arrival. Perfectly normal.

She had to take off from the ground and get all the way up to that incredibly tall tree, instead of from tree to tree. I can imagine that takes a lot of work, especially with her legs down and feet clasping the fluff. She is OK though. Shadow pants much the same with some more larger sticks/fish.

I think last year she laid 2 in late January and one the very beginning of February? None viable and Shadow wouldn’t leave the eggs. God I hope for a different outcome this year

For those expecting a big, fluffy nest, don't. For whatever reason, personal preference or environmental factors, this nest remains the "stickiest" of any eagle nest on KZbin. Other nests have lots of padding from grasses and mosses, but the Stickman and his lady love prefer the minimalist look.

I think about this every year. All the other eagles nests I've watched have spacious areas of fluff where at least 2 grown eagles can sit side by side. This duo it's barely the cup and a smidgen. Not much more. If this is personal choice I wonder whose? 🤔Jackie? Or them both? It's interesting.

I live in the valley below this nest, so local for me, though regrettably, I have never seen a live bald eagle outside a zoo or bird show. I have a great fondness for the Netherlands having had my 16th birthday there during a six-week stint as a foreign exchange student. I lived in Dalfsen. I made it back to your country twice more. I now follow the A Chick Called Albert channel from there as well.

Yes panting is normal. Birds to do not have sweat glands, so they thermoregulate via panting. Bald Eagles are built for cold climates, it is not uncommon for them to pant after flying up the hill, even in sub freezing temperatures.
