First time seeing a bird lay an egg. She sure fluffed up and when she made those crying sounds I wanted to cry too. I felt myself pushing when she did too! Such a precious moment. Back to watching the nest off and on all day again!

I started watching last year, so I haven't got to see them become parents yet. I was so disappointed and heart broken last year when we finally realized the eggs weren't viable. And poor Shadow didn't want to give up. He kept coming back and laying on the eggs until finally Jackie got him away from the nest.

Shadow is going to be so happy to incubate again because I think that is one of is favorite things to do other than nest maintenance. I think that might have been the reason why Jackie ate the eggs last year when she realized it wasn’t going to hatch. She deserved those eggs to she put in all that time and effort in she didn’t want the Ravens getting a free meal.

Isn't the nest supposed to be much fluffier and softer than this ? The other eagles before laying eggs make their nests so compact with tons of feathers grasses and leaves really super fluffy and very warm and cozy. Is this perhaps why the eggs haven't been kept warm enough?
